They think the Giants will sign Carlson to a 1 year deal.

What do you think of guys like Dreesen or Bennet?

I would definitely like to see Carlson play for us. However, if he is a weak blocker I'm not sure how much interest we would have. Our system calls for block-first, catch second type TEs.

Still I think he would be worth offering a 1 year deal

I'd love Joel Dreeson

I think Kory Sperry would be a cheap signing with some upside. He is a restricted FA but we could probably offer about 2 yrs $4million and get him. He has a lot of athletic ability and reminds me a lot of Dustin Keller. Him, Carlson, Bennett and Dreessen would be main targets in FA.

Joel Dreessen is my favorite of the bunch.

Bennett just frustrates me. He can be better than Jimmy Graham or Rob Gronkowski but he's just so god damn lazy.

I would take Dressen or Bennett over Carlson. But we have to watch the cap number right now.

I thought Shiancoe might be an option as well, but it sounds like since his good season a couple years back, he is on the decline.

I see the Packers are going to keep Finley

I like how they say he is an ideal fit for the Giants but is the worst blocker. He is clearly not a good fit if he cant block.

Meh, I think Id rather us bring up someone in the draft. Eli made damned good players out of Boss and Ballard who werent 'bursting' with athletic talent. If we find someone in the draft that we can mold, and have for a long time, that would be ideal IMO

I agree. But I'd rather wait and not waste an early pick on a TE in the draft.

Christian Hopkins....

Bennett is the sexy pickup bc of the potential and might have motivation staying the division vs 'Boys but guys like this who are great on paper who haven't progressed usually continue to stay average.

Carlson doesn't block and was injured so not sure how great a fit he is. I know nothing about Dressen but like his productivity at least.

I'd probably opt for Hopkins and a draft pick .

Christian Hopkins....

Most of the people on these boards hate to hear that but I'm starting to think that might be the guy. At the very least he knows the system, having been in it for an entire year. A rookie has to learn the speed of the game on top of the system and that is typically why rookies don't see a lot of playing time in their first season.

Go Christian Hopkins!

He would have to block. That is #1 for our TE's. Dreesen might be a better fit.

I definitely think the Giants are going to sign a vet tight end to a small one year deal and probably draft a tight end too. Then with Beckum and Hopkins, they'll have 4 guys and then depending on who's number 4 they can either cut him lose or sign him to the practice squad.

I don't know which vet TE they'll sign, but I'd actually like to see Shiancoe come back. He knows the system and is familiar with Eli so he has that going for him. Also, when he was here he was overshadowed by Shockey, but then played pretty well in Minnesota when he was the starter.
