Dwayne Allen ran a slow 4.78 in the 40 yard dash, 32 inches in vertical jump and 9'2" in broad jump which puts him near the bottom ranked in those categories out of the group.... He did well in bench press with 27 (tied with fleener for 2nd). I am little concerned with his speed as the top NFL TEs have like 4.55 speed.

Coby Fleener is even slower than Allen and he didn't run. He runs about a 4.80.

Mayock said "Orson Charles is #1 TE and better than both Allen and Fleener.".... Orson Charles refused to run the 40 yard dash but he is about a 4.60. He did bench 35 times which was the most.

I am not impressed with Allen, Fleener and Orson Charles. I comparing them with the top NFL TE's combine where Gronk, Graham

And some people thought Mike Adams (OT) is a candidate for the Giants but he could only bench 19 times which was the worst for offensive lineman. The highest was 41 by an offensive lineman. Maybe Gordy Glenn is the best pick for the Giants if he drops that far.

Even better, now we can spend a 2nd-4th on a TE.

I think the Giants will wait and see if no TEs are taken in the 1st round, they will draft an offensive lineman for 1st round.... And then hope either Allen, Fleener or Orson Charles are available in the 2nd round. I don't think there is a big difference in talent between these 3. Hopefully one of those (most likely Charles will be left for them) be available for them in the 2nd round.

Gordy Glenn in the 1st.... Orson Charles in the 2nd....

Hopefully this will put all the "GIANTS MUST GO TE IN TJE FIRST!!!!111" to rest.

This is clearly a pathetic a TE class.

Egnew is pretty fast (4.62 40yard dash), tall 6'5", best vertical jumper 36" and best broad jumper. I wonder about his blocking though.

I don't think TE is a high priority position for the Giants. We just need to improve the O-line in both run blocking and pass protection. Eli can make any receiver look good if he has time to throw. I'd still take a TE somewhere in the draft just for depth (considering the injuries to Ballard and Beckum), but not at the expense of improving the O-line.

We are NOT taking a tight end in the first round. JR does not sound high on that at all, and this lends credence to the idea as well.

I'd gladly take a big tough blocking TE in the 4th or 5th round and develop his hands over time.

Noway is Fleener slower then Allen. He averaged close to 20 yards a catch last season and claims he can run in the 4.4 range.

I've been saying for a while now that I think the Giants will not draft a TE in the first round but will instead sign a vet FA to a one year deal and get someone in the middle of the draft. I don't know how much stock Reese puts in the combine, but this seems to confirm this.

CBS sportsline reports Fleener as running 4.77 in 40 yard dash. There is no way that he has 4.4 speed which is near Vernon Davis speed. And 4.4 speed is faster than Jimmy Graham and Gronk.

Jerry Reese said we would address the TE position in the off season. ( Of course that's like saying " I'll order dinner after I've seen the Menu " )
