Why were the commentators talking about that play being a catch?

Why did Coughlin challenge it?

I felt like I was taking crazy pills last night.

If his knee hit the ground, he is down by contact. It WAS a TD

If I understand right, having one knee down is as good as having both feet/toes in.

I actually like Gruden, he really does add to the announcers job, and I like Phil simms and his partner, nearly all else fail. Actually Banks is pretty good from what I can recall.

We can only wish bro . But I will be happy if the Giants can file a formal complain just to keep them on their toes. Ironically that bad call is just the way all season has transpired in a lot of way for Big Blue . If you look at the spot in front of his knee, you can see the blue pellets on the white marking. That could only happen if his knee was down.

I don't know if this was pointed out about the Ballard play: When the view from behind Ballard was replayed, a telltale cloud of black dust comes up from the blue endzone turf clearly 4-6 inches into the endzone.

There is no way this cloud of field turf pellets could have occurred unless the knee touched that spot. If anyone has video of this I would love to see it. I think that is as telling as any of the evidence.

I dont know which photo the article is about. But ESPN has a story about it. Photo indicates refs missed call. (http://espn.go.com/new-york/nfl/story/_/id/7320704/photo-indicates-refs-missed-call-new-york-giants-loss) Here is the money part of the article "Coughlin later saw a photo produced by FOX TV that appeared to show Ballard's right knee touching down inside the end zone."I
just saw a picture which made me sick to my stomach, which FOX produced
and showed that he's in," the coach said during his Monday press
conference.NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said officials don't look at still photos when they review a play.".

Sorry Greg. But if the picture was done by Fox TV, it means the video camera's got it. Which means the ref should have looked at the film (aren't all video feeds available to him). So either A) he didn't or B) It wasn't made available to him. Either way Triplett should be fired immediately.

So instead of 7 the Giants had to settle for 3. That's 4 points the refs took from the Giants. Then, on that one Green Bay TD they blew that call and gave him the TD. So that was on 3rd down and had it been incomplete they would have settled for a field goal. So the refs gave Green Bay 4 points. So give the Giants 4 more and take away 4 from Green Bay. That's 8 points from the refs.

If Green Bay does go undefeated they should put an * next to it.

More to the point, the refs very well could have cost the Giants a playoff spot (possibly division title), and Coughlin his job.

The game can't be overturned nor replayed, but I think some sort of compensation is in order.
