CRUZ MEMOIR FOLLOWS IN THE FOOTSTEPS OF OTHER GIANTS (http://www.northjersey.com/sports/pro_sports/football/140466093_Memoir_follows_in_the_footsteps_of_other _Giants.html)

"Victor Cruz, author, could rival the drawing power of some legendary Giants
scribes, says Walter Boyer, co-owner of Bookends, the independent bookseller in
Ridgewood (/ridgewood).<div id="storybody">

The wide receiver will be writing a memoir his agent describes as an
inspirational tale of the challenges he overcame en route to sudden NFL stardom.
The publisher is Celebra, a Hispanic celebrity imprint of Penguin Group.
Interviews with potential co-authors are under way. The New York Post reported
last week that the memoir should reach bookstores before NFL training camps open
this summer.</p>

"We would love to be a launch" for the promotion tour, said Boyer, whose East
Ridgewood (/ridgewood) Avenue shop has hosted a slew of Giants book
signings Phil Simms, David Tyree, Harry Carson, Justin Tuck and Michael
Strahan among them.</p>

The biggest draw was Lawrence Taylor. More than 1,000 people turned out in
2004 when the Hall of Fame linebacker signed copies of "LT: Over the Edge."</p>

Boyer said Cruz could attract that many because he is coming off a breakout
year and grew up just a few miles from the store.</p>

The shopkeeper is expecting a "positive" book appealing to both men and women
and possibly a national audience.</p>

"He's young, he seems to be a nice guy and approachable, and I'm sure there's
a spiritual side to him that will come out in the book," Boyer said."</p>
