Don't know what Rolle's contract is but I'd let him go and divert the bucks to Osi U.

I like Rolle. He takes so much heat but he really stepped it up for us this year.

I think he should be our deep safety next year to allow KP in the box, something KP probably would have done this year had we not been so depleted in the secondary.

thats a case of the bad idea bears. Osi still has a year left. Let's see how next year evolves before we decide on Osi's future.

Rolle's a victim of his salary. Being the highest paid safety creates an expectation he will never live up to.

Rolle's never taken a paycut. In the restructure he did last year all they did was switch whatever money it was from base salary to guarnateed bonus money. But, restructuring him like that again only makes his cap numbers worst going forward.</P>

I am sorry to say that I don't agree with calling a whole bunch of those players 'overrated'. I believe that Rolle has been a solid player, who does not only play safety, but also corner.

I would only agree that Rolle is a very highly paid player, but I am not so sure that he is not worth the investment. His leadership is something that would be difficult to replace.

Not for nothing, the guy who wrote this list has been huffing on lysol!

Exactly. Thats why his cap number is so large this year, because his cap hit last season was only like 1-2 million.

I think a better idea would be for Canty to redo his deal (he makes way to much) and help resign Osi. Also Eli should give back some of his millions to help resign some key FAs to keep this team mostly intact

With the exception of Jacobs, nobody on this team is going to be taking paycuts. They just got to and won a superbowl.

And Jacobs is taking a paycut because it was either that or be released.

Are they going to threaten Eli, Canty, or Rolle with being released? No

Err... KP finished one of the top rated safeties in the league this year and didn't allow a single touchdown. Let them switch if you want but KP dominated all season this year and to move him from where he was a top league player is silly to me

We are stacked at DE whereas our secondary got decimated, and on top of that we have played a lot of formations heavy on safeties and Rolle was in essence playing linebacker a lot of the time. Plus Rolle finally bought in to the coaching philosophy and became a leader on the field midway through the last season, and now we're going to get rid of him?

Call me a heretic, but Rolle is more important than Osi.

Rolle did a very nice job for us this year. He does talk alot but he got everybody to listen and look what happened.

Rolle is fine. He found himself this year and finally settled down. He will be fine alone with getting our CB position built back up

^^ THIS! Color me heretic as well. The 'Osi situation' in the media is already getting old in the face of far more serious needs.

how do incentives work against the cap?

If it wouldn't gp against the cap I'd just pay Osi whats hes due this year and throw in a bonus for sacks and forced fumbles.

Rolle is fine. He's taken a leadership role and has done everything asked of him. I'm sure the Giants didn't tell him that intended to play him at linebacker when he signed the initial deal. He could have easily pulled a Haynesworth but he didn't.

Diehl makes too much
Jacobs makes too much
Canty makes too much.

if we sort those three contracts out we should be ok.

+1. Right on. If we drafted a SS in the 1st who could start off the bat, I'd cut Rolle but I think we'd take a huge hit against the cap so we can't do it right now.

Nothing against Rolle, but it's just life with the latest cap.

I can't say that Canty makes too much because I think he's making $6mil per year and he had a very good year this year, but I prefer Osi over Canty. Can't cut Canty either, I believe, because of the hit against the cap.

That being said, I'm not paying Osi top 5 DE money either, though.

They tried offering him incentives last year. He refused to take them.
