You will be a GIANT for life.. one of my favorite players on the team.. had to make my own separate topic for this man... sad day [:'(]

One of the most physically imposing RB's the NFL has seen... no one wanted to tackle him up high

Will be switching to this signature for awhile... don't worry C-Web will be back soon [:)]

After releasing Brandon Jacobs (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2224/brandon-jacobs) on Friday afternoon New York Giants (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/new-york-giants) general manager Jerry Reese issued a statement calling the running back "a great Giant."</p>

"Brandon has truly been a great Giant," general manager Reese said.
"These times are always very hard for me. We had a very good
conversation today. We don't know what the future holds for Brandon, but
we wish only the very best for him and his family."</p>

Head coach Tom Coughlin also complemented Jacobs.</p>

"Brandon helped us win two world championships," Coughlin said. "He
always did what was in the best interest of team. No matter what you
asked him to do, he performed and played in whatever role we asked him
to perform. He really was a team player.</p>

"I have always felt like Brandon could be counted on. He's a guy that
is very, very good in meetings for me. He pays attention. He picks up
on the message. He loves the excitement of the game. He loves everything
about it - the pregame routine, the talking to his teammates, trying to
motivate his teammates. He loves every part of it."</p>

Jacobs has, at times, spoken rashly over the years. Friday, he had nothing but good things to say.</p>

"I might be leaving, but my name will stay. The fans have been great
for me. Everything has been good. A standup organization. I was very
close with a lot of people in the organization. They're all a bunch of
great people. The Mara family, the Tisch family, everybody's great. I
just want to thank them for the opportunity that they've given me.

"But
it's time to move on. We tried, couldn't reach an agreement. It's been
great, though. I can't say anything negative about anybody in the
organization. (Running backs coach) Jerald Ingram, hands down, probably
the best coach I've ever experienced as an athlete. He knows so much
about the game and I learned a lot from him as well."</p>

Big Jake, will be missed, like when he use to carry 3 guys with him on a run , or when the defense tacklers bounced off him........He helped us win 2 Super Bowls , I wish him well...... Good Luck to you !

Sad Jacobs had to go over a measly 500,000 a year. That's what the two sides couldn't agree on in case you are wondering. Jacobs wanted 2 million a year, the Giants would only offer 1.5.

The Giants better find a back that can block. Good luck Brandon. Beast.

Loved the way he bowled people over and delivered hits instead of just taking them. He hasn't been doing it for a few years, though... Will always remember Chris Berman with the "boom boom boom crash boom" sound effects when BJ plowed through people.

In my heart #27 will always belong to Rodney but Jacobs is 1A.

It is times like these that make you realize how much of a business the NFL is.

Up to this point, everyone has handled this admirably with their comments. I hope they leave it that way.

It is simply the business side of the NFL and the slight decline of the aging RB. Jacobs will be missed as he was one of the greatest Giant players even if it was just 7 seasons. He has been a great clubhouse guy, has great career stats, won 2 championships and broke Giant rushing TD record. I will continue to root for Jacobs if he joins another team.
