With tackle Stacy Andrews lost for the season with blood clots in both his lungs, the Giants got some veteran help on Wednesday when they signed veteran tackle Tony Ugoh.

The 6-5, 304-pound Ugoh was originally a second-round pick of the Indianapolis Colts out of Arkansas in 2007. He started 11 games at left tackle as a rookie and 12 games the following season, too. He was cut by the Colts in mid-September of last season and signed with the Lions two months later.

The Lions cut him in training camp this year.

Ugoh will almost certainly be a depth player along the Giants' offensive line, even with all their injuries which has forced a major reshuffling. The line they sent out on Sunday against the Packers -- with Kevin Boothe at center and Mitch Petrus at left guard -- will likely be their line again this Sunday night in Dallas, too.

That's because C David Baas is still undergoing tests for what the Giants are calling "intense headaches" -- though Tom Coughlin said today his condition is "much more serious than a headache." Coughlin declined to say much more about Baas' status, but his availability for this week definitely seems to be in doubt.

He will likely be used as an extra eligible tackle nothing moreas long as Diehl and KMac remain healthy. If he stinks at that job, they may just use Cordle more for that role.

Early second round pick. Started for Indy for a while. Was ok is pass pro but not in the running game. Similar build and movement to Beatty but never developed as well.

True but like I said if he cannot handle the extra eligible tackle job whichthey use a lot to bring in extra guys to help run block, Cordle will have to take it on. I'd actually like to see them pass out of that look with play action a bit more. In fact bring in a completely power oriented look and play action out of it. So you canhave 6 linemen, a TE or FB or 2 TE's, one running back and one WR (2 if you go w/ one TE or no TEbut a FB) and play action out of it. The defense would be totally fooled as the Giants never or rarely do it.

It could look like this and you can split TE's, RB's, FB's out too or motion them in and out/left and right:

X X X X X X TE WR (or reverse this to the other side or one on eaach side of the line)

QB

FB

RB

or

WR X X X X X X WR (or bunch)

QB

FB or TE

RB

I am drooling over running play action out of either of these sets. Come on Gilbride you imgrate! Lol![;)]

True, but we had a good running game going on last weekend against Green Bay. Agree to disagree if you'd like, but I'd like to see the same o-line this weekend.

2nd rounder with that size and started that many games and then got cut....

sounds to me like he has gotten lazy. Maybe Flaherty (sp) can get his big fat *** in gear.....

Ugoh is a cool name for an offensive lineman.

That's all I've got on this.

I was hoping they would have gotten Gaither while he was floating around out there. He looked good for the chargers on Monday night

If he was he wouldn't be available. Hopefully he can fill in a pinch and not get Eli killed.

Well yeah I don't know much about him, so maybe someone had a reason for why he was unavailable other than he sucks

Is Shawn Andrews injured or did he just not feel like playing football this year. I know he had back issues last year. If he is health I am surprised they didn't try and give him a shot.

True. And he needs to stay away from Candygrams.
