AMANI TOOMER: THERE IS A CHANCE MARIO MANNINGHAM RETURNS TO GIANTS (http://www.giants101.com/2012/03/16/amani-toomer-there-is-a-chance-mario-manningham-returns-to-new-york-giants/)

"Free agent wide receiver <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with Mario Manningham" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/mario-manningham/" rel="tag nofollow">Mario
Manningham</a> spent his Thursday visiting with the San Francisco 49ers and
then, like <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with Steve Smith" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/steve-smith/" rel="tag nofollow">Steve
Smith</a>, visiting with the St. Louis Rams. And although the latter seems to be
a likely destination, former New York (http://www.giants101.com/tag/new-york/) Giants wide receiver <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with Amani Toomer" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/amani-toomer/" rel="tag nofollow">Amani
Toomer</a> believes there's still a chance (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/03/16/toomer-talks-shockey-giants/related/) he returns to Big Blue.<blockquote>

"I think there is a chance," Toomer said. "There's such a deep pool of
receivers this year in free agency, and a deep pool of draftable receivers that
he might find it may be his best bet to have another year to prove himself, and
make some big plays with the Giants."</p></blockquote>

In addition to addressing the Manningham situation, Toomer touched on the
pickle Big Blue finds themselves in when it comes to <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with Victor Cruz" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/victor-cruz/" rel="tag nofollow">Victor
Cruz</a>. Should they pay him now? Should they pay him later? And what are the
risks of both? Needless to say, it's a tough situation to be in for the Giants
and it could go either way.</p>

Finally, Toomer touched on the Twitter war (http://www.giants101.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=32482&amp;action=trash&amp;_wpnonce=4d369d64 d2) he had with Jeremy Shockey on Thursday morning,
standing by his comments that Shockey is a bad teammate and worse person. He
referred back to several instances during Shockey's tenure with the Giants, and
even mentioned the tight end getting out of line with Eli Manning in the
huddle."</p>

would love to have him back, but the Rams will offer him more money and more playing time ... his stats would probably be the same with either the Rams or Giants, but like everyone he does have to think of his family</P>

unless Eli is going ... hey ... i really want him back ... then it probably doesn't happen</P>

This is reminding me of the Bradshaw situation last year. I doubt it'll be the same result but having MM back would be huge if they get him for an AB type deal.

Would love to see MM back and will be thrilled if it happens. The "three amigos" did have something special. We'll just have to wait and see how this plays out.

I'm fine with MM leaving, he did a good job for us and wish him all the best.

Mario's best interest he should sign with a team who has a stud WR and quality QB for a one yr deal and look to increase his price with a good productive yr.

Carolina, Detroit, NO

I'm more concerned with putting money into the OL and a RB who can catch and do something with it. If JR has the money and MM sticks that would be fine by me however.

I think the Rams make a good fit for Mario and is probably where he would make his money. Carolina/Cam Newton would be a decent combo since Mario has a tendancey to screw up his route and Newton can buy time with his legs so Mario can get space. Plus he has a gun and I think Manningham would have fun in that offense.

just to add to my above comment...I would not mind Mario coming back for another year, but if healthy, I prefe Steve Smith. I think we could lock him up for a few years too.

I don't believe there's a chance .. he is dead set on getting PAID .. we aren't gonna reward a 2nd tier player a huge contract...

Because you are talking about his great success in 2009, not in 2012 or even 2011.

Because you are talking about a WR who's gone on IR the last 2 consecutive seasons--with damaged knee each time.

And, as you say, this is a business. Would you buy a used truck for your business that has had well documented recurring engine problems and cannot be relied upon the last 2 years?

That's why.

I don't want to see SS again.

I think the 49ers are nuts not to make him an offer.

I don't think there's a chance that he comes back to us. Someone will pay him more than we can afford.
