View Full Version : New York Football GIANTS Message Board Code of Conduct

12-16-2007, 04:32 PM
These are the terms of use that every
member using interactive areas of this site agrees to adhere to. This
would include chat rooms, message boards and other interactive areas
such as multimedia and contests.

Communicating in a chat room or on
message boards is different from face-to-face communication. Only the
words are seen, not your facial expressions or tone of voice. Please
pay careful attention to how you use your words.

Remember that the words you enter in a
burst of passion or indignant anger will be there for you and everyone
else to see, sometimes long after those intense feelings have passed.
That's not meant to discourage spontaneity, but just a friendly
reminder of the long-term existence and effects of what you post.

You may, from time to time, find
yourself in disagreement with someone else's opinion. At times like
these, please keep in mind it's safer and more polite to take issue
with the comments rather than the person.

By using the New York Giants' and
Sportvision's service, you agree that you will not post any of the
following material in chat rooms, bulletin boards, or other forums:

· Any communication that is intended
to harass, belittle, humiliate, threaten or cause embarrassment to a
fellow member. Personal attacks will not be tolerated anywhere on these
forums at any time. Keep any squabbles with another member to Private
Messages. If you are found to be making threats of violence of any kind
in a PM or on the boards, your account will be permanently banned
without warning. No one will be immune to this, as we have far too many
nonsense posts where people insist on cluttering the board with their
personal problems with others. In other words, do not make your
problems with another poster the problem of everyone else who uses the
board.

· Material that contains vulgar,
obscene or indecent language or images. There is a language filter in
place to prevent any type of vulgar or obscene language. Deliberately
misspelling words or adding additional letters or symbols to any words
with the intent of getting around the filter, no matter how innocent
you may think it is, will result in a 10 day suspension from the forum.
Doing so more than once will result in a lifetime ban. There are no loopholes and absolutely no exceptions to this rule.
The only way to avoid it is to type the words as you normally would and
allow the filter to do its job. This is a fair warning to everyone.
Posting pictures that contain vulgar or indecent language or posting
links to audio/video clips that contain inappropriate language or
images is also strictly prohibited and will result in a lengthy
suspension or an outright ban, depending on the severity.

· Any communication that contains spam
(multiple copies in one area or the same communication in multiple
areas). Posting links to other forums with the intent to draw more
traffic to that forum is prohibited and will result in a lifetime ban.

· Material that defames, abuses or threatens others(see above regarding personal attacks)

· Statements that are bigoted, hateful or racially offensive. This will result in an immediate lifetime ban

· Imitating a Moderator via username
or using an avatar to depict yourself as a Moderator will result in a
lifetime ban. Also, attacking Moderators publicly anywhere on the
forums will result in your removal. If you have an issue with our
performance, take it up with us directly via PM or email.

· The only valid email to contact the moderators is: giantsboards@gmail.com

· Moderators can only provide support if a user account is in some way corrupted or password has been lost.
We cannot help you use your web browser or if you have any computer issues, as that is out of the scope of our support.

· Material that advocates illegal activity or discusses illegal activities with the intent to commit them.

· Unauthorized copyrighted material. This includes
any articles that are copied and pasted from any sources. Articles
written and published by other entities are copyrighted and are not
permitted to be posted on these forums at any time. A short summary and
a link to an article is acceptable. This rule also covers any type of
article from a paid subscription site such as ESPN Insider and any
other outlet that charges a fee to read the material. You will be
suspended immediately for violating this rule. A permanent ban will be
administered to repeat offenders.

· Advertising or any form of commercial solicitation.
Posting links with the sole intention of getting more traffic to
another site will not be tolerated. Members are permitted to post a
link in their signature area, but this is the only acceptable place for
such a thing. It is considered spam.

· Continuously posting off-topic material in the
incorrect forum(s) is not permitted and will result in a suspension of
the users’ account. Talk About Giants Football is for just that: Giants
Football discussion. This does NOT include posts about FA players that
have signed elsewhere. We have several other forums to cover just about
any type of sports related discussion. Post in the correct forums at
all times. We will hand out suspensions for repeat offenders if our
warnings go unheeded. Also, BEFORE YOU POST, READ THE FORUMS. If
another thread exists, please use it rather than starting a new one on
the same topic.

- Politics and/or Religion based topics are not
permitted here at any time. This is absolutely not the place for such
discussions. Anyone bringing any topics related to either Politics or
Religion will be removed from the boards without warning. Not open to

"Trolling" or making statements that are obviously designed to irritate
or enrage other posters is not permitted at any time. This behavior,
regardless of post count or length of time on the boards, will NOT be
tolerated. Punishment for such behavior may range from suspensions with
post count removal to a total banning of an account and/or IP address.
Further warning will not be given from this point on.

× Fans of teams other than the New York GIANTS are welcome on these boards to discuss football or other sports topics. If opposing fans want to “Talk Smack” there is a section to do this. It is the Rival Central forum. Any opposing fans engaging in “Smack Talk” outside of that location will have their accounts permanently suspended. Opposing
fans will have a much shorter leash than GIANTS fans. Those that do
come onto this site looking to cause trouble will have their accounts
permanently suspended very quickly. It may not seem fair,
but this is necessary to maintain an environment for NY GIANTS fans to
discuss their team without being subject to harassment.

×Statements or postings
that violate the above terms will be deleted from postings upon
discovery. While we may attempt to notify you if we move or delete a
post, we are under no obligation to do so. Depending on the nature of
the violation, the New York Giants and/or Sportvision at their sole
discretion may terminate a customer's account. If a post is moved or
deleted, you will receive an email at the address you registered with
automatically from the forum software, notifying you of the action
taken. It is suggested that you check this email account if you notice
that something you posted is not where it once was, as you will get the
information from the email that is sent.
