DAVID CARR SIGNING: BACK UP QB BACK WITH GIANTS (http://www.bigblueview.com/2012/3/22/2894243/david-carr-signing-backup-qb-back-with-giants)

"The New York Giants (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/new-york-giants)
today officially announced that backup quarterback David Carr (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2711/david-carr) has
re-signed with the team. Carr was a free agent, but had been expected to
return.<div class="entry-body">

Carr didn't throw a regular season pass during the team's 2011 championship
season. But he is a former overall No. 1 draft choice who has thrown 2,264 NFL
passes. In 2011, Carr re-joined the Giants after spending a season with the <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/san-francisco-49ers">San Francisco
49ers</a>. He and incumbent <a class="sbn-auto-link" href="http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2752/sage-rosenfels">Sage
Rosenfels</a> were competing for the backup job until Rosenfels was forced to go
on injured reserve because of back problems. In the preseason, Carr completed 27
of 44 passes (61.4 percent) for 236 yards, two touchdowns and one
interception.

Carr was Manning's backup quarterback in 2008 and 09. He
played in three games the first season and in six games in 2009 and in those two
seasons completed 33 of 42 passes (78.6 percent) for 340 yards, three touchdowns
and no interceptions.</p>

"I feel really comfortable here. I know that if given the opportunity and put
in the position to play on this team, I would do well," Carr said. "That's also
a comforting feeling knowing that if you get into the game, you're in there,
first of all, with the world champions, so how can you go wrong? And secondly,
to know that you're going to go out there and succeed is also a
positive."</p></div>

Haha, no argument there.

I feel sorry for Carr. Thanks to Houston's non-existent O-line, his talent has been wasted.
I'm thankful to have him as a backup though.

I hope he can get a couple snaps this year... just not at the expense of Eli's health.

nice, not that i expect him to have to play, but obviously the continuity for Eli to have the same backup, the same guy to bounce things off ... all good</P>

How time has changed opinions on this board. I remember when there were many on the board screaming for Eli to be benched in favor or J-Load. Speaking of..... wonder what he is doing these days?

Lorenzen was still playing up until last year. He's in the UIFL and was voted last season's MVP. Bizarrely, he's now that league's commissioner.

He is a class act. It's great to have him on our team. To bad he got pounded into the ground at Houston. I also think he is better than Alex Smith and the 49'ers missed the boat.

They had the boat but Mike Singletary never let him start. He opted for their #3 instead.
