Apart from LT, Banks, Armstead and Pepper over the last 30 years and there has been a terrible waste of picks by all GMs especially in 2nd and 4th rounds and awful free agents apart from Brooks and Boley.

I disagree. I feel like Michael Barrow and Antonio Pierce were some of the best free agent acquisitions we've made.

Just wait....between Greg Jones Jacquain Williams Spencer Paysinger and Mark Herzlich we may have 1 or more great linebackers

The Coughlin years have been very lean at LB by Giants standards.

When fans on this site get all lathered up over guys like Sintim and Goff, you know it's been a loooooooong time since we've had a truly great one.

Williams and Herzlich have shown great promise so far. did you kno williams had 78 tackles last season as a 6th round rookie. wow.

The position is just not as important as it used to be. I wouldn't be surprised if we never have a LB group as good as the one we had in the 80's ever again.

If we ever go back to a 3-4, we'll need impact players at LB again.

We did draft Carson , round 4 if memory serves correct. The OP stated it was a 30 year review thats why Harry wouldnt be on the list:

I disagree. I feel like Michael Barrow and Antonio Pierce were some of the best free agent acquisitions we've made.agreed. They just happened to be playing about a year longer then they really should have been. Even Mitchell did a good solid job for us for that 1 year.

It hurts to see any list of Giant LB's without including Harry, AND Brad Van Pelt, 2nd rnd 1973

It saddens me that we haven't held up the legacy of Giants LBs, but my oh my look at our DEs.

+2. Not sexy, but very solid pick-ups. And I believe that Barrow came from the 'skins like Pierce did.

Yeah, the legacy has just been moved to the DE position.

Pierce lived off 1 decent LB play in the years he was here, namely stuffing the screen in the 2007 NGCCG.

He was garbage in coverage, especially man on man vs RBs and TEs....

All the signal calling was a bluff for poor speed and fundamenals..i.e. the reason he was not drafted.

Barrow was a good complement to Jesse but nothing special

Wrong dude!! Pierce was very good in his first few years here. He did slow down significantly at the end though.

I assume you are giving Deossie a 1 strictly based on LB play? There is no way Greg Jones and several others on your list have done more for the Giants.

It really goes to show how much the league has changed in style of play. Before you could have dedicated run stoppers at the line, and have your LBs blitzing; where as nowadays, you want to minimize the number of LB that rush the passer, and depend on the line as much as possible. Blitzing no more than 5 is the ideal today, while everyone else covers and contains.

Van Pelt is still one of my most cherished autographs. Just a great guy. Left us too early.

I was seven or eight when he left the Giants so I actually don't remember specifics, but I remember collecting their cards, and I credit the Crunch Bunch for making me a Giants fan. They were too awesome. They were always my first cards displayed.

it's something for all Giants fans to be proud of ... we have a great history at that position ...but it's very different now b/c we are 4-3 instead of 3-4 and the league is such a passing league their are times where only 1 or 2 LBs are even on the field

and you have packages ... J. Williams was not technically a starting LB for us, but he certainly was in the top 3 for snaps at LB

our star defenders are now DEs and not LBs for the most part
