move to bring on a big-time cornerback, signing Nnamdi Asomugha to a five-year,
$60 million deal. Widely considered one of the top two CBs in the league,
Asomugha struggled mightily against Cruz, who hauled in nine receptions, 238
yards and three touchdowns in two meetings with the Iggles.</div></blockquote></div></div>

Needless to say, big time CBs haven't exactly had their way with Big Blue
WRs.</p>

Back in 2009, Carr's second year in the NFL (http://www.giants101.com/tag/nfl/), he and the Kansas City Chiefs defense were picked
apart by Eli Manning &amp; Co., giving up 292 yards and three touchdowns through
the air. Nicks and former WR Steve Smith accounted for 188 of those yards and
all three of the touchdowns. And while Carr did defend three passes, it was far
from a career day for him.</p>

While Carr has undoubtedly improved since then, so has Nicks. And as talented
as Cruz already is, he's only going to get better. In other words: good call,
Mr. Ballard.</p>

I like the trash talk in the offseason. Keeps things interesting. Plus he's just showing some confidence in his fellow teammates.

On the other hand, I don't think anyone is expecting Carr to stop or shutdown WRs. He's a significant upgrade over Newman though, and is a top 10 CB who I think matches up well with Nicks.

The article mentions that he's gotten better since 2009, which is true. But I think it's understated how much better he's gotten since 2009. In 2009, QB's had a 99 rating when passing at him. That number has dropped 20 points every season since. And that's playing opposite one of the better corners in the league and without much of a pass rush.

Trash talk isn't the Giants way? Jesus, this isn't 1950 anymore. Do you realize the Giants basically trash talked their way to a Super Bowl win? Rolle and JPP were two of the ****iest athletes I've ever witnessed during that run, and you know what, they backed it up with their play. Did it inspire their teammates? Who knows. But to say its not the "Giants way" is ridiculous. This team has changed, and trash talking seems to be a big part of it at this point.

This is one of those quotes that will never hurt us. The same way we boldly announced we were going after Revis and we weren't scared. It didn't matter what we said Revis is for real and all the pre-game talk did nothing to affect his game. In the same line of thought you can say anything you want about Nicks and Cruz eventually one or the other will burn you.

FYI Giants 2012 were trash talkers, led by Rolle, Boley, and Jacobs.

The Chiefs have a very good pass rush, most of the time.

No Cornerback in the NFL can shut down Nicks consistently. However this is why I do think the Giants should bring in another weapon in the passing game. Whether it be a Seam Stretching TE like Coby Fleener or another quality WR like Rueben Randle or Brian Quick. I think some of U are sleeping on how big of a loss Manningham is to the Giants offense as a whole

Pac Man Jones 2.0?

And shouldn't Ballard be waiting to see if his ACL heals and he makes the team next season?

People keep saying how we should stop talking trash, we're not the Jets and its not the Giants way.

But I think this group of guys we have like to trash talk and convey a boatload of confidence.

Beginning to think trash talking actually IS the Giants way, nowadays

The TRUTH according to who????

according to the way the league is moving on offense

there was the era of the running back where a premier every down running back lead to championships, back when faulk was posting back to back 1000yd seasons

thene there was the era of the TE's when davis was killing defenses where he was the premier threat for the broncos taking on double coverages freeing up the wide outs on the outside

this is the era of the QB/WR where 3000 was looked at as godly 5-6 years ago its common now the new godly number is 5000+ and what do receivers need? WR's.

Copy cat league buddy, 2 good receiver's might not cut it anymore like it used too. your going to need 3 good receivers or 2 and a good TE. i can get into X's and O's for you as to why you need this but im too lazy and i feel like i shouldn't have to explain this

i agree a little trash talk is healthy and a good confidence boost. first off carr said he was going to shut down nicks and ballard responded i hardly call that trash talk that's a response to trash talk.

i think giants fans want to maintain this were classy ideal at all cost and i just don't see the reason why to come off as pacifist when everyone around us is taking shots. **** that lash back way i see it then back it up on the field.

Eli said he felt he was elite then proved it
Rolle felt we were going to go deep in the playoffs and they proved it

whats so wrong with this ?
