He wont hold out, to his agents disappointment, but will be expecting that payday next off season. Giants better be ready.

Nah, more like lighning in a skillet.

After seeing him in that Jets preseason game in 2010, I knew this kid was the real deal. Too much athletisism and talent. Too good getting to the ball and attacking. Too quick for defenders to grab. Too smart to shoot himself in the leg.

As long as his egostays grounded, which I really thinkit will, he could be a great player for another 6-7-8 years.

And how can anyone not like his personality?

No real surprise there. He has always said he's going to play football and let his agent handle the contract. It's good to see it repeated now and then.

Anthony Mix was a flash in the pan. Victor Cruz is a tough-as-nails winner.

I'm always skeptical. Let's see him do it one more year before giving him a fat contract. I am not the deciding factor here.....if the FO thinks he's got the goods.....then lock him up now, or whenever you have the cap room. I just recall giving Jacobs money after one good year........just sayin

Jacobs---one "good year"?

He signed his new contract after 2008 season.

After TWO 1000 yard rushing seasons, not one.

After scoring 35 TDs in 4 seasons.

Why are you even bringing Jacobs up in a Cruz discussion?

Just sayin

Just sayinAlso, flashes in the pans don't typically set franchise rushing TD records, either.

Thanks for letting us know youre not the deciding factor on whether or not Cruz gets a contract, I was real worried for a second.

It's about not giving out long term contracts unless you can receive value for most of the term. Nothing more nothing less. If you make future long term commitments based on a short sampling of work, you're asking for trouble.

He's not up for a new contract this year and has said at least twice publicly now that he's going to play football.

If Cruz hadn't set the NFL on fire in his rookie pre-season and broke the single season franchise record in his second (virtually first) regular season I'd agree with you. What he's been able to do on the field is a matter of his skill sets which should get better with time and more reps with Eli.

My take is that they are looking ahead at both Nicks and Cruz and making financial moves now to help free up money to keep them both.

Brandon Lloyd
What about him? Their situations aren't comparable. Lloyd was decent in St Louis last year as well - no small feat.

Victor's a Jersey boy, there's nowhere he'd rather be than with the Giants. The Giants will give him a nice contract at some point, and I bet Victor doesn't squeeze the Giants too hard. He knows who believed in him, and gave him a chance. He'll settle for a little less to stay right at home in Jersey. Victor's cool, and I think he's going to be a career long Giant. And pretty soon Victor's going to have piles of endorsement money, if he stays in NY.

You can never count on something like that. Sport is a business.

Brandon Lloyd

Jeff Garcia at the end of career for 13 games
Tim Rattay for 16
Ken Dorsey for 10 (rookie year for most)
Alex Smith for 7 (rookie year)
Cody Pickett 2
Mark Brunell at the end of his career for the Skins for 9 games
Jason Campbell 7 (rookie year)
Jason Campbell for 13 more his second year
Todd Collins 3
Kyle Orton 28
Rex Grossman 1
Tim Tebow 3
Aj Feeley 3
Kellen Clemens 3
Sam Bradford 5

Can you blame Lloyd for not being all that consistent?
