Vote for him! Let's get a Giant on the cover for the first time. And for the people who won't do it because of the the Madden curse, you are morons.. It's football injuries happen. Some cover athletes made it through their season without injuries so what makes you think Cruz can't do it

If he wins who's going to take his spot in the line up next year?

exactly. The madden curse is either a drop in production, or an injury. it has also been beaten before so who really cares. I do expect cruz to have a drop in production, but not because of a "curse" but because there is almost no way he can have that many big plays again next year.

Brees threw twice as many int's his cover year than he did the year before. The saints lost to the 7-9 Seahawks in the first round of the playoffs and now bounty gate.

Anyone else?

It's funny that the players clearly don't believe in the curse. Has there ever been a player to NOT want to be on that cover?

I just don't care enough about that ripoff game to vote.

To me, it's important not to vote for Cruz. It's analogous to being quite when your offense is at the line of scrimmage. Don't be responsible for helping Cruz' downfall.

All Giant fans should vote for an already top vote getter, like Drew Brees. Not to wish him ill, but to protect our own player. Can you imagine the distractions and useless banter from friends that comes from that cover image? That alone is not good. And if it leads to the hero worship going to a player's head (particularly a younger guy), it can change him...and not for the better.

Peyton Hillis has gone one record saying he believes in the curse.

Ladanian Tomlinson refused to be on the cover in 2008 the year Vince Young was on it. Charger fans actually created a website opposing the decision by EA. Ultimately LT declined.

The Madden curse is real like it or not. It just gets to a point where any chance of coincidence is out the window. A quick Google search will show you a history of the curse starting back in 99' when they starting putting players on the cover.

I do think it has more do with the difficulty of the NFL than it does some mystical power though. It should be the "NFL Curse" or whatever you want to call it. Look back at all the players that haven't been on a Madden cover, had a breakout year (worthy of Madden cover voting) then did nothing or got hurt shortly after.

There's a reason why long term success and consistency is so rare and applauded in the NFL.

Football players getting hurt playing a violent game? Hmm I wonder what you'd get if you randomly selected a players name every year, is it likely that they may get hurt? I mean come on how many of you guys have actually played the game. Of course people get hurt playing this game. Big deal.

There is no such thing as curse, Santa Clause, the Easter Bunny, and Elvis is actually dead. But hey if it helps you to get threw the day to believe the John Madden is a secret voodoo practitioner go ahead. I'm going to support Victor, he wants to be on the cover.

And what do I get for predicting the Bradshaw in particulate and a few other players on our team are going to be injured sometime this year, despite the fact that none of them are going to be on the Madden Cover the year?

I played the game from modified to varsity, I busted almost every knuckle in each hand, sprained my ankles, my right knee still hurts, hurt my elbow one year, and I can still bend my finger back about 160 degrees. One of my friends broke his leg on the field, another his arm our senior year, and that's just playing rank amateurs fighting for school pride! With the skills that guys have at the NFL level I'm surprised there aren't more injuries then there are.

I think there are things that can and do affect players who appear on the Madden cover. Like state of mind (because your on the cover) complacency, feelings of grandeur, get too much attention, take increased risk, try too hard too live up to the cover etc... These could be reasons player get hurt and/or have bad stats. What ever happens I hope Cruz realizes this....

There are players on other EA games as well. NCAA, mlb, NBA, nhl... It's funny that there is no talk of a supposed curse in any other sport other than madden. I just placed my vote for the final 8. I votes for Willis cause I want cruz to be a healthy, productive giant.

What's amazing is the fact that so many people ignore the facts that are place before them. I am not superstition, I don't necessarily believe in curses but I cannot deny the facts that are there for the madden curse. The funny thing about u non believers is that if cruz was to win the cover and get injured or have a horrible year non of u would fess up to being wrong. You'd all still pull the "everyone football player gets hurt or has a loss of production" bull****

Anyone who has ever taken a statistics class should realize the curse is not real. When you look at average injury rates and average declines in production it's easy to see why it looks like it exists.

It's really really hard to be phenomenal in the NFL every single year. That's all it is.

This is rather a ridiculous argument. Statistics of a star getting a major injury after being on the cover are real. Calling it a "curse" because someone cannot understand the reason is what's "not real" or provides a lack of an explanation.

If you simply look a couple posts above from NY4U2, you'll see the logical and, I believe, correct explanation.

<blockquote>"I think there are things that can and do affect players who appear on
the Madden cover. Like state of mind (because your on the cover)
complacency, feelings of grandeur, get too much attention, take
increased risk, try too hard too live up to the cover etc... These could

</blockquote>It's like when a player signs a huge free agent deal and cannot perform up to the expectations that he feels are put on him in the first year. This is another formula inherent in human nature.

Let's say you won some Madden contest and your picture was put in a bottom corner of the cover. Just imagine what it would do to swell your head, the new interviews, the jabbing from friends. Most people here discount that these players are very human.

Vote anyone but Victor.

Once again Fitz was on the cover with Polamalu who fell victim and Brees threw twice as many int's as he did the previous year. Again, sure they made the playoffs but they remain the only team ever to lose to a 7-9 team in the first round. And that was the same year the bountygate thing started being investigated.

Maybe calling it a "curse" is what gets everyone. It's unexplainable and there really is no other way to say it. Like I said before, what about all the other EA cover men from other sports? This theory about "statistics" doesn't apply to them?

Take a quick look at Drew Bree's int rate it goes up and down,

2011 - 14
2010 - 22
2009 - 11 (in 15 games)
2008 - 18
2007 - 17

22 isn't that big of an anomaly compared to 18, & 17. Especially considered he had over 100 more attempts in 2010

So qb is all over the field, Last I checked nfl is a team sport, so his TEAM lost in the playoffs.
