DALLAS COWBOYS' JASON WITTEN BELIEVES MARTELLUS BENNETT IS PERFECT MATCH FOR GIANTS' OFFENSE (http://www.giants101.com/2012/04/04/dallas-cowboys-jason-witten-believes-martellus-bennett-is-perfect-match-for-new-york-giants-offense/)

"When the New York (http://www.giants101.com/tag/new-york/)
Giants signed former Dallas (http://www.giants101.com/tag/dallas/) Cowboys tight end Martellus Bennett (http://www.giants101.com/tag/martellus-bennett/), it was met with a lot of cautious
optimism. Could he get his head on straight and succeed in the Big Apple? Can he
get his career back on track with a change of scenery? Are his best days still
ahead of him?

To all of those questions, current Cowboys TE Jason Witten says, emphatically, yes (http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2012/04/post_26.html).</p>

He fits that offense in a lot of ways. I think his confidence was probably
shaken a little bit in Dallas (http://www.giants101.com/tag/dallas/). Few plays, his numbers were limited, so I’m sure
that’s a part of it," Witten said. "He’s a good blocker, he’s a good underneath
route runner and he’s big so he can catch the ball. I think, more than anything,
getting his confidence back and getting a fresh start will do a lot for his
career. Definitely a lot of upside.”</p></blockquote>

It's not just Bennett's potential in which Witten has confidence; it's the
ability of Giants tight end coach Mike Pope, who many believe is the best in the
business, to get the most out of his players.</p>

“Ultimately, when I found out he was going to the Giants, I wished him
congratulations because I know he kind of fits that power offense and Mike Pope
is one of the best tight ends coaches there is,” Witten said. “Anybody who plays
the position knows that about him. He does a good job of eliminating
distractions and allowing his players to be the best. I think he’s done that for
many, many years, going back to (Jeremy) Shockey and taking a guy like (Jake)
Ballard who’s undrafted and getting him to play at a high

Witten, who plays the Giants twice per year, added that between Pope and head
coach Tom Coughlin there is zero tolerance for outside distraction. It's that
sort of discipline he feels Bennett needs to elevate to the next level; to reach
his full potential.</p>

In 60 career games, all with Dallas (http://www.giants101.com/tag/dallas/), Bennett has 85 receptions for 846 yards and four

I like Witten. Great guy on and off the field. I also agree with him 100%. I think Martellus will show us what Dallas was expecting him to do.
