GIANTS' VICTOR CRUZ ELIMINATED FROM MADDEN '13 COVER VOTING (http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2012/04/giants_victor_cruz_eliminated.html)

"I've had a discussion with one Twitter follower over the past week or so
about why the other Giants (http://www.nj.com/giants) beat writers
and I have been paying such close attention to the Madden '13 cover voting.

I told him my reasoning was twofold: the Victor Cruz factor makes any story
relevant and the fear of the Madden cover jinx was such a threat for Giants fans
many of them were actually voting against Cruz.</p>

Well, those fans fished what they wished because <a href="http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/feature/madden2013cover">Cruz lost out to
San Francisco 49ers linebacker Patrick Willis</a>. Willis received 55 percent of
the votes to Cruz's 45 percent. Willis will now face the Carolina Panthers' Cam
Newton in the semifinals. The winner will meet either the Green Bay Packers'
Aaron Rodgers or the Detroit Lions' Calvin Johnson in the final.</p>

While many Giants fans will rejoice over the news of Cruz's elimination, keep
in mind that's a loss of a potential big payday for Cruz. Tough break for him

The Giants announced three jersey-number changes:</p>

--RB Andre Brown has switched from 35 to Brandon Jacobs' old 27.</p>

--OL James Brewer went from 79 to Jimmy Kennedy's 73.</p>

--WR Dan DePalma ditched 19 for 15, which Devin Thomas wore. The Verona

No. 15 in college at West Chester (Pa.)</a>.</p>

This is shaping up to be a busier day than expected. We have <a href="http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2012/04/rumors_abound_of_potential_gia.html">the
Keith Rivers watch</a> going on and I'm hearing some mild draft-related
rumblings I'm trying to firm up. Might have a teeny something in that regard by
the end of the day. Plus, I'm still working on those pre-draft visits."</p>

For the Giant fans that fear the Madden curse/coincidence, this is a good time to breathe a sigh of relief.

I predict it's going to be a Cam Newton vs.Aaron Rodgers final with Rodgers winning and taking the Cover spot.

Then, we'll hear it from the Packers fans who believe in curse and the Bears fans saying "You're welcome!"
