David Wilson is one pick. It only takes one pick to dethrone Jerry Reese? Give me a break. Wilson is a runningback and runningbacks are devalued in today's nfl....IF THEY AREN'T PASSCATCHERS.

Let's be real here, Wilson is a guy that probably a few years ago would go at the end of round 1. Before you laugh, I want you to think of this, Chris Johnson was a big reach by the titans in '08, he had just been playing RB and was unpolished. He ran well and had good numbers, but was he worth it? Absolutely.

I challenge you to look at Chris Johnson's college tape and David Wilson's and see the comparisons. Very similar, and I will bet that Wilson is faster than the 4.49 he ran or the 4.41 he ran unofficially. In the old Indy stadium Johnson ran a 4.24 but in the slow track I think he would've gotten maybe even a tenth slower at 4.34.

Per Nfldraftcountdown:

Extremely fast and explosive...A terror in space...Very quick and elusive...Fantastic receiver with terrific (albeit small) hands...Runs good routes...Decent vision and a good cutback runner...Can really turn the corner...A great natural athlete...A very versatile weapon..Also an outstanding kick returner..Still has considerable upside.

Lacks the size and bulk that you look for...Not tough or physical...Looks to bounce everything outside and he doesn't offer much as an inside runner..Toughness and durability are issues...Sub par blocker...May be a 'tweener without a true position.

Bounced around between running back and wide receiver throughout his college career and could project to either position in the pros...If he stays at running back he will probably have to make his mark as a 3rd down / situational guy and return specialist...Has not yet reached his full potential because he was never afforded the opportunity to concentrate on mastering a single position...A very poor-man's Reggie Bush who can definitely help a team if used correctly...Intriguing prospect.

Explosive athleticism with great speed and a burst
Agile w/ nimble feet and great change of direction
Elusive with impressive balance and some moves
Aggressive, runs hard and plays bigger than size
Is effective running on both the inside and outside
Soft hands, solid ball skills and decent route runner
Hard worker and good teammate w/ top intangibles
Can also contribute as return man on special teams
Is durable and excelled against quality competition

Just average height and bulk with small hands
A bit impatient and seems to lack elite instincts
Can be a little too eager to bounce runs outside
Fumbles too much and ball security is an issue
Marginal blocker with plenty of room to improve

Injury History:
Missed one game with mononucleosis in 2011

A one-year starter for the Hokies --- 1st Team All-ACC and a 2nd Team All-American in 2011 --- 2011 ACC Overall and Offensive Player of the Year --- '08 Gatorade Player of the Year in Virginia --- Backed up Ryan Williams and Darren Evans, who would both go on to play in the NFL, early on in Blacksburg --- Also averaged 21.7 yards with 2 touchdowns on 61 kick returns during college career --- Nine career fumbles, which equates to about one for every 55 touches --- Also a track star at Va Tech and earned All-America notice at the 2011 NCAA Outdoor National Championships in the triple jump --- Posted a 41-inch vertical leap at Scouting Combine --- Finally got a chance to carry the load as a junior and emerged as one of the countries premier runners --- Doesn't have the ideal size that you'd prefer but is a well-rounded player who brings some dynamic qualities to the table --- Ready to compete for starting job at the next level but should at the very least be a versatile backup.
