Kid looks like a walking penalty. He spears too much and doesn't wrap up to take a player down. if he can clear that up, kid can def lay some good hits.

Yeah he was playing for Tennessee but they kicked him out the University. Then he had to attend a small school similar to what Janoris Jenkins had to do, but I been new about this kid.

Most of it looks great except the leading with the helmet hits on WRs. Those will usually lead to first-down penalities and fines in the NFL player safety Era.

I agree. He led with his head in a lot of those tackles and delivered a few nasty helmet to helmet hits. He'll need to work on that.

I typically complain about how the NFL is going soft these days with ticky tacky leading with the helmet penalties being called but the stuff in the first minute of that video is downright disturbing how reckless he is.

woah....this could be JR's diamond in the rough...how he went unnoticed is beyond me.
he plays like a heat seeking missile.

from the admittedly little i;ve seen from him, he appears to have fluid hips, tremendous closing speed, great body control, and serious intensity.

and about those questionable hits that "could" be flagged, sometimes its worth the 15 yards to put the fear of god into the opposing wr's...

He'll wind up paralyzing himself (or another player) playing like that, but he does know how to lay down a hit, seems to have a healthy amount of INTs, and seems to be pretty darn athletic.

Good thing about coming to a no-nonsense winning organization like the Giants is that if anyone's going to force you to play like you're supposed to, it'll be the Giants.

I'm glad that we signed someone at S because we need more depth at that position. We are ALWAYS injured in the secondary EVERY year. Want to keep our depth back there.

Jackson was one of Lane Kifin's recruits at UT. He has talent, but has serious on and off the field issues. Not coachable. I can not see him make the final roster.

from what Ive read, the armed robbery charge was dismissed. Wrong place, wrong time....dont think he was actively involved.

He actually left UT at his own will and went to play for a team his dad coached for. I believe the reason was for some personal/family issues.

Can't seem to find any info on what those family issues are but some suggest it had to do with his brother.

He should tone down the launching hits & learn to wrap if he wants to make the team.. Seems like there is some potential there but he will be suspended quickly with some of those hits landed in the few minutes of that highlight

Hes my prediction as pre-season star. Janzen Jackson is my 4th favorite player we picked behind Jayron and the 2 OT's.. I think Janzen will end up taking Rolles spot, once we decide Rolles contract is 2pricey to keep on board.. Jackson is the future FS on this team.. Hunch..

I think the same way and I'm right with you on this guy. He needs to be taught how to tackle. You can't play like that in the NFL.

We'll see. it appears his career is trending downward. After a strong soph season at tennesse ( 5 picks 69 tkls) he's followed that up with:
Dismissal from team: Substance abuse
-
decreased production against inferior competition: 23 tckls, 2 picks
-
poor combine: 188 pounds, 4.64 40, 9 reps on bench
=

Ya, its all based on weather or not this finally has been enough of a wakeup call for the kid.. If not, he'll just be another bum.. If this kid realizes his talent and grows up some, then he will in fact be a heck of a player... I think he will learn, just becasue as people, it gets to the point, where its more then just you to worry about, but your family and close friends as well.. Hes pretty much on his last strike here..

I stoppd watching the highlight tape after not seeing one fundamental tackle in the first minute. Kid can hit college players for sure. I know it's a highlight reel and they're going to show the big hits, but you're not going to bring down Jason written, celek, Fred Davis like that on a consistent basis.

Lots of college players rely on just a shoulder to bring guys down, because it works in college. I dont thinkteaching guys to always wrap up is all that difficult of a coaching job.

I just watched that and all I can say is ! Meh. Looks like he went right where he should have. I think I stopped counting at about 300 yards in personal foul penalties. Got a few gift interceptions there as well. Maybe he can play special teams for his sake.

He was dismissed from the team by coach Dooley. He withdrew from the school the febuary prior to deal personal issues. From what i remember it was a lot of drama around him being dismissed with the coach giving an official statement to reporters that they spent a lot of energy and support in trying to help him but it comes a time to move on its more important not to compromise the long term values of the team. I don't think he said exactly what he did.
The robbery charge was dismissed because they felt he had no prior knowledge that a robbery was going to happen, so yeah, wrong place, and with the wrong people.
Either way the kid defiantly has talent so i hope his head is screwed on right now.
He must have gave a good interview with Reese and company for them to feel the need to sign him. The past has shown that they are pretty good judges of character so I'm hoping for the best.

I wonder if the Giants have their eye on someone out there to replace his roster spot? Maybe an O-linemen? We are pretty deep at CB and LB. Are the first cuts from 90 to 75 after the next preseason game or after the 3rd preseason game?

Yes, after the 3rd preseason game and up to the day before the 4th preseason game against the Pats, they have to trim the roster to 80. After that, it's only 4 days including the 4th preseason game to trim the roster by 27 players down to the 53-man regular season crew by Sept 2
