(http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/organizations/n/national_football_league/index.html?inline=nyt-org) without pay for the entire 2012 season Wednesday for his role in helping the former defensive coordinator Gregg Williams in “establishing and funding” the team’s bounty program that has cost Coach Sean Payton a year’s suspension. </P>
<P itemprop="articleBody">Vilma’s suspension was the longest of those handed down to four players — Cleveland’s Scott Fujita, Green Bay’s Anthony Hargrove, both former Saints, and New Orleans’ Will Smith received lesser penalties. The league said they were most deeply involved in the bounties. The league said its investigation revealed multiple independent sources who confirmed that Vilma twice offered $10,000 of his own money for hits that would knock out an opposing quarterback — Arizona’s Kurt Warner in a divisional playoff game in 2010 and Minnesota’s Brett Favre in the next week’s N.F.C. championship game. His suspension begins immediately.</P>

Hargrove, a defensive lineman, was suspended for the first eight games of the season. Smith, who remains with the Saints, was suspended for the first four games. Fujita, a linebacker who is also a prominent figure in the players’union, was suspended for the first three games of the season.</P>

We don't play saints In first 4 games so Will Smiths penalty will have no effect on our game

Hargrove only out 8 games and we don't play them till week12

And fajita out 3 games and we play them in week 5

The only one that we won't see is Vilma who is out the yr?

Of course the point of your thread is we hope these guys being out has an effect on their teams in losses they may not have had with these stars in there

The Saints signed Curtis Lofton anyways, not too much of a difference between him and Vilma.

He might be an upgrade as a player.

The loss of Sean Payton will be a much bigger impact on the Saints than any one player. Would the Giants be who they are today (or have any lombardis) without TC's coaching?

The Saints signed Curtis Lofton anyways, not too much of a difference between him and Vilma.

He might be an upgrade as a player.
Vilma is the quarterback of that offense. He usually misses time due to injury, but it's sill a big loss.

He called the audible which picked off Peyton in the Super Bowl.

I didn't. Sure I wanted PF gone (and I'm still not sold on him unless he's going to actually use his DE's as DE's), but not Coughlin...
