Being named the starter in May is absolutely meaningless. I doubt he'll be the starter come the regular season.

I like Chase at MLB and prefer his experience over the 1-year players at this point. If Blackburn legitamately loses his position in training camp then that would suggest the younger guys are good enough to supplant him then I am fine with that.

I do. The man came in the middle of the season, and he made a huge difference for our defense. He played the best at the position for us this past season, and I don't see any reason why he shouldn't start there.

Pretty much what he said, its Chase's job to lose because of what he did last yr when he came in. We haven't seen enough from the other guys yet, but who knows we may have a new starting MLB by the end of camp.

Lets remember the type of D we run... Chase may only be the first down MLB.. we change up personel all the time

I doubt he'll even be on the team when the regular season starts. He ended last season as the starting MLB, so it only makes sense to pencil him in during early OTA's. I think our LB corps is loaded with too much young talent for him not to lose his starting job, if not his roster spot.</P>

Exactly, he'll be on the field about 40% of the time.

This. Its rookie camp now, lets wait till training camp and preseason.

Its going to be an open competition between Blackburn, Jones, Herzlich, and Rivers.

I think they are really looking at what defines a NYG MLB. We'll see how the off season goes and if / how they define the Mike position.

I'm satisfied with Chase at MLB, he brings veteran leadership and a lot of hustle and if somebody beats him out later then that means we're even more solid at the position...

Hmmm let's see he steps into the reg season game against Rogers after teaching school all season & picks him off. Then changed the tied in the SB by dropping back 50 yards & picked off Brady.

How many MLB can you name that have done that in one season?

+1. Plus, I feel more comfortable with Blackburn than Goff anyway.

Lot of good stuff to read here. I think that some of you guys make a good point - the season has not yet begun, so nothing is set in stone. What do y'all think of Boley being the MLB and Rivers and Williams on the outside?

Blackburn should definitely be the starter at this point.....if one of the more athletic guys shows a grasp for the system, and can react better than Chase, then that will be a different story.

Until then, it should be his job to lose.
