I still cant believe we won the Superbowl in 2007 with Gibril Wilson and James Butler at Safety.

Looking at their careers once they left NY you have to appreciate our coaching staff, especially the position coaches.

I think both were severly underrated by giants fans. Wilson had an amazing rookie season that set his play at a level he couldnt maintain consistently.
and for all of butlers athletic shortcomings, he was a solid player who performed his best in sb42...

Wilson went to the raiders where even hofers look like garbage, and butler played well for stl under spags...

To this day i wish we woulda resigned wilson...

I always thought that Wilson was a fine, solid Safety and Butler wasn't all that bad either.

I don't know where Butler went, but Wilson went to Oakland and very few FA's ever seem to do well there because they've been so bad for so long.

We would have resigned Wilson if the Raiders didn't drastically overpay him.
Wilson agreed to a staggering six-year, $39-million deal with the Oakland Raiders (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=oak)
that includes $16 million in guarantees and will pay him $19.5 million
over the first three years. The deal allowed Wilson to become the
third-highest paid safety in football behind Troy Polamalu (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6352) of the Pittsburgh Steelers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=pit) and Bob Sanders (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=6803) of the Indianapolis Colts (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=ind).

Damn, and people though we overpaid for Rolle.

Robbins did ok in STL. Nothing special, I don't think, but solid considering his age. Cofield played well last year, I thought. He switched to nose in the Skins 34, but he seemed to do okay.

Shockey is Shockey. His biggest problem has always been him, lol.

Ward was definitely a product of our OL. Sure he was good, but our OL made him look a lot better than he was.

Smith wasn't healthy last season... When he finally started to recover from the microfracture he got hurt again. Plus, he just doesn't seem to fit with what Philly does offensively.

Boss, I think is starting to feel the toll of the beatings he's taken. But, if you really look at it, he wasn't too spectacular here, either. Just solid.

Torbor was a career back up here and only got a starting job after Kiwi broke his leg.

Plax is just old and spent a couple years out of football. You could see his decline in '08, even, so it doesn't come as a surprise that he didn't do too well last season. Plus, he had Sanchez throwing him the ball.

Butler was horrid and often took bad angles. shows that a deadly pass rush can make up for a poor secondary.

I did not mind Wilson, but never really liked Butler much. But all in all, much like this past championship season, it is all about peaking and gelling at the right time.

Remember how clutch McQuarters was during the run? He had 4 interceptions in the first 3 rounds at crucial times.
