GIANTS ONE OF THREE TEAMS INTERESTED IN VETERAN SAFETY DEON GRANT (http://www.giants101.com/2012/05/20/new-york-giants-one-of-three-teams-interested-in-veteran-safety-deon-grant/)

"Could veteran safety <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with Deon Grant" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/deon-grant/" rel="tag nofollow">Deon
Grant</a> make a late offseason return to the <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with New York Giants" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/new-york-giants/" rel="tag nofollow">New York
Giants</a> for the second consecutive year? It's certainly a possibility says
Grant, who revealed during an interview with SiriusXM on Sunday that the Giants,
Detroit (http://www.giants101.com/tag/detroit/)
Lions and Dallas (http://www.giants101.com/tag/dallas/)
Cowboys have all expressed interest in him.

Grant added that he's in no rush to sign, and is just waiting for the right
opportunity.</p>

The 11-year veteran has spent the last two seasons with the Giants, returning
a year ago in mid-August following a string of injuries to their secondary. He
went on to play all 16 games for the Giants, who often employed a three-safety
look, recording 64 tackles, one sack and one interception.</p>

Given the current health and depth at cornerback for the Giants, it's
unlikely that they'll showcase a similar three-safety look this season. However,
having recently waived Chad Jones (http://www.giants101.com/2012/05/14/new-york-giants-waive-chad-jones-sign-safety-will-hill/) and with questionable depth behind Kenny
Phillips, Antrel Rolle and Tyler Sash, signing Grant for training camp
competition and leadership wouldn't be such a bad decision.</p>

Should Grant end up re-signing with the Giants, it would likely be a one-year
deal for the veteran minimum."</p>BRONCOS MAY BE INTERESTED IN DEON GRANT (http://network.yardbarker.com/nfl/article_external/buzz_broncos_may_be_interested_in_deon_grant/10835186)

"The Denver Broncos may pursue free agent safety Deon
Grant (6-2, 215 lbs.), according to one NFL insider. Grant, 33,
started in nine games with the New York Giants last season and
received a Super Bowl XLVI ring following New York’s 21-17 win over the
New England Patriots.<div id="post-36479" class="post">

“I’ve heard the Broncos may have interest (in Grant),” ESPN NFL
Insider Cecil Lammey Tweeted (https://twitter.com/#%21/cecillammey/status/204329604645781504) on Sunday afternoon. The Giants and Detroit
Lions are also reportedly interested in Grant’s services.</p>

Grant was drafted by the Carolina Panthers in the second
round (57th overall) of the 2000 NFL Draft and spent two years with the Panthers
during John Fox‘stenurein Carolina (2003-’04). Fox is now
the head coach in Denver and Grant is a free agent. <span id="more-36479"></span></p>

Over the past two seasons in New York, Grant played in all 32 games (with 17
starts) and recorded 136 tackles, two sacks, four interceptions, two forced
fumbles and defended 16 passes. Grant joined the Giants in 2010 after stints
with the Panthers, Jacksonville Jaguars and Seattle
Seahawks.</p>

The Broncos secondary isn’t getting any younger, but Grant could provide
solid veteran experience in Denver. Earlier in the offseason, Brian Dawkins (http://broncotalk.net/2012/04/34499/broncos-blog/brian-dawkins-lauded-by-john-fox-others/) (38) retired and Denver signed fellow veteran Mike Adams (http://broncotalk.net/2012/03/31854/broncos-news/denver-broncos-sign-safety-mike-adams/) (31). Adams will presumably start across from
Quinton Carter (23) in the back-end of Denver’s secondary this
season.</p>

Adams and Carter are joined by David Bruton, Rafael
Bush,Duke Ihenacho and Rahim Moore
as the six safeties currently on the Broncos’ roster. Bruton has been with the
Broncos since 2009, Bush joined the Broncos last season as a rotational
defensive back, Inhenacho signed as an undrafted college free agent in April and
Moore was drafted by the team in the second round of last year’s draft.</p>

There will be a lot of competition in the secondary during training camp this
summer and the acquisitionof another safety would add more intensity to the
camp battle. Grant would likely provide special teams depth and become the
third safety on Denver’s depth chart if signed."</p></div>

I was adamate on him returning last year when many overlooked it, but I just think it'd be much better if he just retires.

Id welcome him back but dunno how hed get on the field unless injuries stack up...

Tt is gonna move into the role grant gave us, and likely do a better job.
grants a great leader and teammate, but there were several instances where u could see he lost a few steps and he ended up costing us some big plays/points

I'd just like him to have the opportunity to compete in camp.

I was one of those people that wanted him back last year too, because of how much he improved our d 2 years ago. At the very least we should give him a chance to compete after what he contributed to the team the passed two seasons.

Grant is a great presence. Didn't make as many plays last year as he did the year before, and his lateral movement is bad...but you need leaders.

Agreed, but he def lost a step. I don't see him going to Dallas. As he said when Philly offered him more money then the Giants, he doesn't want to join those teams, he wants to beat them.

OK, but at this stage in Grant's career there may not be another contract offer coming his way. You could hardly blame him for taking the best offer but I hope he takes ours if we make one.

At the bare minimum I would like Grant re-signed by the G-men just to keep him from signing elsewhere in our division...not because he is a dominant player that can hurt us with his abilities but rather the fact he was a central key to our defense and was involved significantly and a mentor for these guys...his knowledge of our team memberd and the scheming, that is significant!

Besides bringing leadership to the secondary and bringing an intense attitude to the team, Deon wanted to be a Giant. He said last year at camp "We have a good group here and I feel we have unfinished business to take care of."

You need guys like that on your team. Even if he only plays a few games think about how he can influence rookies like Janzen Jackson, Joio Nicolas, & Hosley. Plus you'll never know with injuries. 1 or 2 guys go down then all of a sudden you become weak in a certain area.

SIGN DEON!! Giants have a great shot at repeating.
