Superbowl matchup......

2007 Superbowl Winning Giants, an experienced team with one of the best defenses in the game. A mixed group of young and experienced talent at WR and in the secondary. The O-line is arguably the best in the league destroying opposing fronts. Smith owns the slot, Plax owns the outside. Jacobs is running like a madman. Eli is still growing and developing into a star. Pierce has the defense on point with Tuck and Osi causing havoc on the outsides. Webster's becoming on of the best CB's in the LG, James Butler and Gibril Wilson are solid and keeping plays in front of them.

2011 Superbowl Winning Giants, a group of extremely young talent. The O-line has regressed and so has the abilities/health of Jacobs and Bradshaw. The WR group has been rejuvenated with the addition of Nicks, Manningham and Cruz, arguably the best trio of WR's in the NFL. Eli Manning is now in the discussion of the best QB in the NFL and broke many record over the last 4 years. The secondary is hurt badly but the fixtures, Webster, Rolle, Phillips and Ross are doing great against the opposition. JPP.......a MONSTER, has found his niche opposite Tuck with Osi rotating on the line. Boley, Williams, Kiwi, and Blackburn allows Fewell to give the offense numerous looks which is a major advantage.

Who wins the '07Giants vs. '12Giants matchup??

Shouldn't it be the 2011 Giants?

Anyway, I think the 2011 Giants are a better team than the 2007 Giants.

Iagree with what tuck said, this team has more talent, but the 07 team had a little bit more heart and destiny on their side.

He thinks this team is probably a bit better and i agree

very close

i would give 2011/12 - QB, WR, STs

i would give 2007/8 - O-line, smarterD w/equal pass rush

i would go with 2011/12 mainly b/c of Eli, but also b/c they did finally start to be able to run it late in the season and in the playoffs and the D got it together when they finally got healthy and when some things were simplified

We won super bowl xlii because of the 2007 entry draft. All of those guys except 1 were crucial to the SB run. Eli getting hot was equal to the players in that draft as far as impact is concerned. That might be the best immediate result draft as a whole in the history of the NFL.

Did it a second time just for S&G's:
tied at 5-5, tie breaker went to 07, 34-17

Damn, now I want to be able to play historical teams in Madden NFL... especially since I started looking at the play calling and noticing an end-around to DePalma mixed in there...

I guess it would come down to which Eli has the ball last. I still think the 07 superbowl champs win because they pass rush was much better .
We beat a much better Pats team .

the engine doesn't account for injuries, it's just using the roster it was fed...

I said it midseason and ill say it again.... The 2011 squad is much more talented than 07 squad... I would say the 07 team was much more physical..

The 2007 team was better. Both O-line and D-line were light years ahead of 2011.

no argument there, but you're gonna compare Hixon, Tyree, Plax and Toomer to Nicks, Cruz, Manningham and Thomas? Obviously the running game is a wash because of a better line and the same backs,(minus Ward)..... but come on, LOVED Toomer, Tyree's catch was phenominal, and Plax played amazing for us that year, but they pale in comparison to our WR corps' potential now..... Nicks, Cruz and Manningha..... oops, I mean Randle, make us arguably the most dangerous passing attack in the NFL. (yes, I think Randle steps in and does what MM did plus some) Throw in Bennett, Ballard, and/or Beckum (obviously based on recovery time) and now some new blood at RB (Wilson/Scott) and I think we're sitting pretty for 2012 and beyond.....

offensively the 11 giants are way better. eli is better, he has more command of the offense and he now has receivers that know their assignments.

defensively from a talent stand point i think its a wash. it may not show in the nfl stat or ranking dept but i think the 2012 team will be better statistically.

special teams again a wash. we got the younger feagles in weatherford and he will be our punter for a long time. thank you jets! tynes is tynes, he will miss some but when needed he comes through. return game also a wash.

so if they were to play i say the 2011 on paper but the 2007 team with their eat the clock game could keep the 2011 team off the field enough to win a tight one.

yeah it also doesnt account for a guy missing most of reg season and then playing in playoffs... it gives the starting time to whomever played majority of reg season...

example Earl Morral over Bob Griese 1972 Dolphins...

While we outplayed NE this year there were times where they made our defense look silly. I can't see the 2007 Giants letting Brady complete 16 passes in a row.

They also had one loss that I was embarrassed by which was the Vikings (maybe the first Packers game as well). This present team really had 4 stinkers Redskins twice, Seahawks, and the Saints debacle. I'm still on the fence on whether to add the second Eagles game as well.

So 07 while not dominant had a better regular season and played better in the SB. So I'd pick them to win.

2007 patriots were a better team than the 2011 patriots.

2011 giants were a better team than the 2007 giants.

How the final scores in both games ended up so similar I have no idea.

But the giants were at least regarded as legitimate contenders to the patriots in 2011, in 2007 they were a longshot.

In 07 they weren't even long shots... they were considered the worst team to ever make it to the SB and were expected to be out of it after the first quarter. I live in a somewhat neutral area, being down in FL.... all they talked about was how bad the GIANTS were and how badly we'd get beaten. No one EVER considered the idea that we'd have a chance, let alone win.
