from the rankings was that the team's defensive end <a href="http://api.viglink.com/api/click?format=go&key=9b4efad421c8b103b2c94b796db973 b0&loc=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.giants101.com%2F2012%2F06% 2F14%2Fnew-york-giants%25e2%2580%2599-jason-pierre-paul-24-on-nfl%25e2%2580%2599s-top-100-list-for-2012%2F&subId=3e646801796e45114472dfafa5862724&v=1 &libid=1339714958973&out=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.nfl.com% 2Fvideos%2Fnew-york-giants%2F09000d5d829cbaaf%2FBarry-Cofield-Fred-Jackson-Evan-Mathis-Todd-Herremans&ref=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.giants101.com%2F&ti tle=New%20York%20Giants%E2%80%99%20Jason%20Pierre-Paul%20%2324%20on%20NFL%E2%80%99s%20Top%20100%20Li st%20for%202012%20%7C%20Giants%20101%20%7C%20Sport s%20Media%20101&txt=Jason%20Pierre-Paul%20had%20cracked%20the%20top-30%20on%20the%20NFL%20Top%20100%20Players%20of%202 012&jsonp=vglnk_jsonp_13397150241871" target="_blank">Jason Pierre-Paul had cracked the top-30
on the NFL Top 100 Players of 2012</a> list.
Last night, it was finally revealed that JPPhad been voted the 24thbest
player in the league by his peers. Pierre-Paul was ranked ahead of players such
as <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with Julius Peppers" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/julius-peppers/" rel="tag nofollow">Julius
Peppers</a>, Clay Mathews, <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with Tamba Hali" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/tamba-hali/" rel="tag nofollow">Tamba
Hali</a>, and Ndamukong Suh.</p>
In typical Giants fashion, JPP took the ranking in stride and acknowledged
that although it is an honor to be considered among the elite players in the
league, being put on a list of great players will not help him in defending the
team's <a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with Super Bowl XLVI" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/super-bowl-xlvi/" rel="tag nofollow">Super
Bowl XLVI</a> victory.In a<a target="_blank">statement released via
twitter</a>, the third year player out of South Florida stated the
following:</p>
<blockquote>
"I'm just happy I'm on the list now I put it past me and keep doing me and
stay humble and focus that's what I do best."</p></blockquote>
In just his second season last year, Pierre-Paul recorded 16.5 sacks and 86
tackles while playing in all 16 games. However, JPP himself recently stated
that<a href="http://www.giants101.com/2012/06/12/new-york-giants-jason-pierre-paul-says-he-expects-to-be-even-better-in-2012/" target="_blank">he has improved every single year he has ever played
football</a>.Perhaps the scariest aspect of this ranking is that JPPis only
entering his third year in the league. His rare combination of size and speed
enable him to overpower his opponents.</p>
That being said, Pierre-Paul still a ways to go in mastering the technique
associated with the defensive end position; which leaves open endless
possibilities in terms of just how great he can be. If all goes well, look for
<a class="st_tag internal_tag" title="Posts tagged with Jason Pierre-Paul" href="http://www.giants101.com/tag/jason-pierre-paul/" rel="tag nofollow">Jason
