As always the Eagles are near the top of the list but here's why. It may look sexy and smart how they handle their contracts and business it's really not in the bigger picture.

Here's a quote from someone:

<div class="quote1">Quote </div><div class="quote2">The Eagles spend money on FA's
eclipz928 : 12:55 pm
and
short term contracts, but they show a reluctance to extend contracts of
players that they draft or that have been with the team for a while. As
a result, the makeup of their roster has very little consistency from
season to season - it allows them to have a lot of flexibility with
managing the cap but it has definitely been a huge disadvantage for them
on the field.

This offseason was the first time in a while the
Eagles have committed to multiple players for long term deals. They
managed it so that their salary cap is in good shape so far this year,
and maybe even going into next season, but by 2014 a lot of those new
contracts will have a huge jump and they'll have to make some really
tough decisions.</div>

<div class="quote1">Quote </div>the Eagles picture

will
not look as rosy next year. They redid a bunch of their contracts,
which always calls for kicking the can down the road. Nothing to see
here.

Next year the Eagles are at 137 million. So, don't worry about their cap.

This discrepancy is pretty common between teams that draft well and teams that dont.

This is the difference. We not only draft well, but we commit to developing those players. It's not a flawless process but, by and large, it produces the "next man up" when we need that.

Eagles freed up a lot by dealing Asante. I guess that cancels out with their extensions.

Number is higher than I expected, though it's bound to fluctuate as guys get cut/or signed from their future contracts.

+1...

The Giants are among the best at player development. With $3mil. worth of cap space, that should be enough to add a player or two to the roster just in case someone gets injured.

And boy have we needed that in the last few seasons.. and by and large the guys that have been the next man up have done just that. STEPPED UP

At a basic team philosophy level this is why the Giants are able to content as players drop to injury

No matter how you see it, eagles have money to spare, Giants are the current champs. Nuff said. eagles lose because they aren't as good as some people talk about. Their star corner is older, their star reciever is scared of the middle, the qb will never be a traditional qb and their star rb is in a single back system and he slows by game end. That defense struggles because they lack effort and their coach is highly overrated, god how i'm glad they kept him.
