21. New York Giants (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/teams/new-york-giants)

The Giants managed to get by pretty well with the linebackers they had. The addition of Keith Rivers (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/34370/keith-rivers) upgrades the depth. Michael Boley (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/1115/michael-boley) is a solid starter on the weakside. Mathias Kiwanuka (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2229/mathias-kiwanuka) is their best linebacker. The biggest question mark is Chase Blackburn (http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/players/2207/chase-blackburn), who will start in the middle. A career reserve, he played well once he got healthy.

He's not a DE anymore. Digest that, and we'll all be better off.

We don't have to prove anything. You realize this ranking was put together by some guy named Ryan Van Bibber. Who dat??Don't get baited into responding to every article however thinly it is researched.

If you Google Ryan Van Bibber, you will find very little in the way of professional credentials. Here is about all I could find:

Ryan Van Bibber is the editor of Turf Show Times (http://www.turfshowtimes.com/), SB Nation's St. Louis Rams weblog.

We need to do a much better job of "considering the source" on these boards. When something gets posted the first question all of us should ask is who wrote it and what makes them expert on the topic.

I honestly don't even get caught up with all these rankings anymore......last year we probably had the worst LB's in the league and we still managed to win a SB

It's all about the team working together and helping eachother...we don't need Rey Lewis or Pat Willis to win a SB

Fewell deserves a lot of credit for designing schemes to minimize defensive player shortcomings

That's for sure. Also did a nice job working with and listening to the DB's... and ultimately made them play less zone.
Our DLine is outstanding, but the LB's and DB's simply did their jobs, worked well together, and played overall great D in the playoffs with no big name players... and the addition of Blackburn's experience somehow helped glue them together. Along with an Offensive line that couldn't run block, it was a continuous pleasure to watch us find a way to pull together and win week after week down the stretch.
I considered it a Bonus season unlike any I have seen before in over 50 years.... like a very unexpected and wonderful Christmas or Birthday gift.

I appreciate you posting Van Bibber's credentials. Although I posted the blog, when I read it all I can do was wonder who is this guy and what qualifies him to determine the best?

Thank you Jomo. I can write a blog today on anything and people will reflect on it as though it was official. The internet is very dangerous for the gullible!!!

I don't know, Jacquain Williams really impressed me last year. I think the starters should be Boley-Blackburn-Williams. Kiwanuka isn't exactly an ideal 4-3 linebacker. He should be on the field for the majority of the snaps, but line up in a given spot anywhere in the front 7 as a blitzing threat... Which is more or less what they did last year.

You didn't hear? He put the potato chips away when the Giants called him up.
