Don't count on him missing game 1. I want them at full strength anyway, don't want to hear any excuses.

This.

I respect Witten a lot actually. He's a good guy and a hard-nosed football player that just so happens to be playing for the enemy.

Fully agree with your assessment about Witten. He has all the qualities that you'd want in a Giants player.

Jason Witten doesn't miss games. In his career he has missed only one game.
Depending on the severity of the injury, he could miss a few weeks, or a few months.

even if he plays, how effective is he gonna be not being able to practice or stay in game ready shape? and i believe he won't play anyways. he'll either need more rest/ or surgery.

and isnt it just a shame how dallas doesnt have bennett anymore? if witten can't go, and bennett plays a part when we win, i wonder how cowboy nation will take it...lmao. i never root for injuries at all, but in this case i hope witten cant play, or is highly ineffective (which is really the only two possible scenarios) and bennett has a solid game, just so that all those boys fans who said bennett was such a talented prospect until he signed with us when he all of a sudden became a joke...well joke looks like its on them.

and the injury occurred when romo started running around behind the LOS when he then led Witten right into a devastating legal hit...

Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten (spleen) suffered a spleen injury in the team's preseason opener and will miss the rest of the preseason, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. At this time, it's not believed that surgery will be required; however, it hasn't completely been ruled out. Witten has not yet been ruled out for Week 1.

Fantasy Tip: Any case of internal bleeding complicates a recovery timetable, and surgery would probably sideline him indefinitely.

if he misses all of preseason, and isnt 100%, i'd rather he played. he'll just be occupying a position without doing anything from a position that has hurt us in the past. how ready would u think he could be if he misses all of preseason? what kind of timing/chemistry would he have with romo during the first real live action? what kind of blocking can he do?
seems to me playing him would severely handicap what the cowboys could do offensively. and of course if he doesnt play, romos safety outlet and primary target wouldnt be something we'd have to focus/worry about.

dallas is having SERIOUS issues. Mo Clairborne has missed all of the offseason practically. He'll have a season like Prince had early on. They dont have the players at safety to slow us down. I feel Brandon Carr is way overrated and that he plays small, but that is just my opinion and he could play well this season i just doubt it bc he will be going up against legit wrs insteada the competition he faced in KC.
Dallas also has a TERRIBLE OL, with their interior being especially horrible. they dont have a 3rd wr to worry about, and now Witten will be a fraction of himself for week 1 at least. if he has surgery, his season will be up in the air...

and to add salt to their wound, they have to play us on opening day with a chip on our shoulders. no not championchip, but the disrespect we've faced this offseason. we are going to destroy dallas and thats whether they are healthy or not...

Updating previous items, the Dallas Cowboys still have not determined the seriousness of the injury to TE Jason Witten (spleen), although early evaluations have indicated that Witten's spleen is not ruptured, according to a team source. Witten experienced internal bleeding but still could avoid surgery. Witten will miss the remainder of the preseason and will be evaluated prior to Week 1, according to the source. If surgery is not required, Witten is expected to miss up to three weeks but likely would be available for Week 1; however, if the bleeding continues and he needs surgery, Witten would be sidelined indefinitely.

if he's bleeding internally, he needs to get that fixed through surgery. i can understand dallas being hopeful in this situation, but imo, witten will miss some time and even if he can play week 1, will not be a factor at all and would actually hurt dallas imo...

Yup, after all our injuries this year and past, and many a football fan giving no consideration to that for us,
I'll take as many inuries on opposing teams as I can get. It does not seem to matter why
we win, the world won't give us props for it anyway. Might as well take the advantages and run with em.

I like Witten alot and if he has to sit in order to comeback full strength a few weeks into the season, so be it. Even though he is on a rivals team, I would hate to see the Cowpies put him back in too early and cost him further injury that would sideline him for rest of season. And yes, a win is a win in my book.

Cowboys | Jason Witten injury update
Wed, 15 Aug 2012 12:09:26 -0700

Updating a previous report, Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten (spleen) suffered a slightly lacerated spleen, according to head coach Jason Garrett. Garrett described the injury as "very serious" and said Witten has to be "still and idle" for the next eight to 10 days.

You would never know it if you go to cowboyszone and read their forum, they actually think they have a great secondary, "best in the league". Of course, they also think Jones is a classy owner, Mara is not, and that they are still America's team.

As for the best secondary in the league comment, that's completely untrue. That thread was started by a guy who doesn't know a lot about football but knows a lot about getting his post count up... I would liken him to GWAT for those of you who remember. Anyway, that thread was ripped apart.

Also, no one said anything about Jones being a classy owner, they did however disagree with your idea of Mara being classy.

America's team-- Yeah some of them are in the dark about being 'america's favorite', but they had pretty fair points about why they believe they're still the most popular team.

They are the most popular team among older people who remember Landry, Staubach and Aikman. I lost all respect for them with the Leon Lett/Irvin days. They also have fans because they had cheerleaders shaking their cooch on the sidelines.. .but now, any team that needs a gimmick has them..

The glory days are over... if you arent winning, you arent gonna be the most popular team.. . Look at all the packers fans who have popped up in the past decade of Farve and Rodgers..

The cowboys are a 500 team over the past 15 years, with one playoff win. America's (most overated) Team.

And yet they still are in the limelight. I think that was the point they were making. Like them or not, the Cowboys are probably the only team that can survive this little success and still be as popular as they are and featured on all the sports networks as much as they are. Now, popular may not mean that they are liked, but they definitely draw quite a bit of interest.

i saw on nfl live, they had a dr specialist on. witten didnt have the worst spleen injury rupture bc then itd just be removed. but the cowboys and the dr said he has a laceration. and that the internal bleeding is from that. the dr then went onto say that the spleen is so vulnerable and in an unprotectable spot (no padding can protect it) that if he comes back too early, it will easily re-rupture and even worse.
she said that it takes 3 months of nothing but rest for it to heal, and that there is no way the cowboys will rush him. it may not be 3 months, but absolutely zer chance he plays week 1 vs us. 1 month or so they can start looking at it, but again, he has to do nothing to jeopardize it so he has to rest.

he aint playing week 1 vs us, prob will miss a few months. this is beyond football now, this is about his life. i hope he has a good recovery bc he is prob missing both our meetings.

and what really sucks for cowboy nation, we end up with a kick *** bennett.
