Osi Umenyiora for Dustin Keller? Osi is only with us for one more year anyway. Keller would be an awesome weapon for Eli...He would be like 7/11 , open all day ,every day , 365 days a year......

God no. The D-line is far more integral to the Giants' gameplan than a TE.

Pointless trade since neither position needs meddling with.

What? I rather keep both Bennett and Osi

I think giving Osi Umenyora the extra money in order to keep our d line intact may be an omen that we do something very soecial this year and maybe even repeat. I think JR wanted to make sure Osi Umenyora stay happy in order to keep our chemistry tight. This season is going to be a very hard one. Other teams are gunning for us and we want to shut up all the pundits and naysyers. I am so excited about the upcoming season.

No we just have to feed the Bear and Black Unicorn and I think they'll be fine just like Ballard became fine last year.

Plus I don't think the Jets can afford to make their offense any worse.

Peerless2
08-23-2012, 01:54 PM
that would be a dumb trade. Anybody who watches the giants already knows that their offense is not tightend friendly........This offense rarely throws to them.....they are always used more as a blocker and dump offs

I bet Osi retires a Giant. I bet he resigns after this season. Just have a feeling. Too much pub in NY for him to pass on.

so the Jets would then have no passing targets just to get an older 4-3 DE that costs more?

and from our standpoint with Canty likely to stay on the PUP and Rodgers likely out for the season, Tuck will be lining up inside more than usual and so will JPP and Kiwi on passing downs, creating way more snaps than Osi will need ... in fact, Osi will be patting his helmet to come out for rest more than grumbling on the sidelines to come into the game

Why of course! Let's trade one of our best pass rushers for a tight end we don't need! :d

i wouldn't trade because bennett has been looking good plus the jets couldn't afford to lose a receiver

08-23-2012, 03:37 PM
Boss looked good when he was here and he is nothing special, the same goes for the kid that tore his ACL last year in the SB. This isn't a TE featured offense so why do we need a big name TE.

Osi is our best edge rusher. Best!

It's been a long offseason. You're forgiven.

its funny how quickly we would become a TE featured offense if we had a really good one like the Saints or the Patriots, Bennett seems like he will be an upgrade for us that remains to be seen...

Diamondring
08-23-2012, 10:28 PM
I would say yes if the Jets would cause Keller is young and Osi is old in football years. Also I 've seen some posters talk about KG's offense not te friendly, but our tes were used in our offense. We tend to not look at players who get yards after the catch like Cruz. Those added helps the receivers productions. KG could change the playbook some to accomidate Keller.

Giantsfan241
08-24-2012, 12:08 AM
You bring in players that fit the scheme, Keller is not a very dynamic player that we should change the scheme for, a superstar? Possibly, an avaerage TE? No.

i am so happy to see osi being happy and focused. like this is gonna be awesome for our d. we havent really had a truly happy osi for years and he's been a great player during that span (except a few seasons).
He is 100% healthy, and happy. And that means opposing QBs are going to be seeing a whole lot of Osi, JPP, and Tuck. I think Osi could lead the team in sacks easily...its gonna be awesome watching the trio compete to get the most sacks and FF...could be record breaking

Giantsfan241
08-24-2012, 12:27 AM
I wouldn't say a backup will lead the team in sacks.

giantsfan420
08-24-2012, 12:36 AM
neither would I. Osi isnt a back up...

Giantsfan241
08-24-2012, 12:47 AM
Tuck and JPP are the DE's, Canty and Joseph are the DT'S.

Did we start playing with a 5 man front?

giantsfan420
08-24-2012, 12:51 AM
well even when they announce our starters on d, they include osi. I understand the parameters of starting and being a back up. Osi simply doesnt play the first snap, but he does play a similar amount of snaps wwith JPP and Tuck.
I'd bet Osi will again get near the snaps those two get. Thats why I dont consider Osi a backup. He starts on every other team. He also has a tremendous snap:sack ratio...and he will play EVERY 3rd down passing situation...

If u were to ask random educated giants fans if osi is a backup they'd say no. and further, osi absolutely could lead the team in sacks. he led the team in sacks during that streak....

Giantsfan241
08-24-2012, 12:57 AM
I give the nod too JPP, if the technique doesn't work he manhandles the OT. He can play both DE spots and the inside, if I'm the Giants I try to get him into every play, we all know he is just THAT good.

giantsfan420
08-24-2012, 01:01 AM
i agree JPP is a dominant beast. top 3 dl in the league. Osi is gonna get a lot of the dinner scraps...

Giantsfan241
08-24-2012, 01:05 AM
In the end I hope all 3 of them do great like every GMEN fan, let's not derail the topic.

Why try and fix what isn't broken? If the Giants didn't have one of the best pass offenses in the league, maybe you'd have an argument. But, turns out it's around 5000-yards-and-a-Super-Bowl good, which means you're pressing a non-existent issue.

Tuck and JPP are the DE's, Canty and Joseph are the DT'S.

Did we start playing with a 5 man front?

In this day and age with players constantly coming in and out of games, it doesn't even matter who starts.

I would love to see Osi stay, but something keeps telling me that he is going to have a knock out season and some team out there is going to offer him a ridiculous contract.Very soon we are going to have to pay guys like Cruz, JPP, Joseph and a few other guys. It's gonna be tough keeping all those guys.

Osi Umenyiora for Dustin Keller? Osi is only with us for one more year anyway. Keller would be an awesome weapon for Eli...He would be like 7/11 , open all day ,every day , 365 days a year...... nah.. Keller has underachieved as a 1st rd pick, and Osi has been stellar for most part as a 2nd rd pick and our Dline is just so important.. Our offense is flat out ridiculous and needs no other weapons, and u can 100000pct trust me on that!
