View Full Version : So as you saw last night as I've been saying all along Jacobs is NOT the problem it was the futility of the O-line

Jacobs has plenty left in the tank.. where are all the Ron Dayne critics? Jack you lurking?

Everyone still want Jacobs gone next year? Guy is the heart & soul of our offense when he's in there. Just as he did in the packers game & Patriots game he was running through everyone... he plowed through 3 defenders like they were bowling pins.

Cut backs.... did it all..... amazing how good he can look with a proper hole

Jacobs ran great last night no doubt, but come on we need more than 3 games a year like that!

Either Jacobs is intentionally dogging it some games and playing when he feels like it or he is auditioning for a team next year when he trys to make a large payday.

if the Jacobs we seen yesterday showed up every game i'd be the first to get him to resign but we can match his production elsewhere.

Sure was.....I'm loving this new o-line, Boothe and Petrus have really created the holes we're accustomed to around here. I would just like Bradshaw to get more involved than Ware but I'm pretty sure it's just injury issues (and curfew ofcourse)....they'll ease him in

I'd give more praise to the Oline

It makes no sense you telling people this cause deep deep down they all know thats its cause the O-line sucked is the reason why we haven't been able to run the ball, and that jacobs haven't looked as brusing as he used too.

But they won't admit it cause jacobs hurt their feelings by calling them unappreciative fans that like to Boo. which is what they are honestly.

IMHO

As with the defense, I think this has been due to several factors.

1 - Petrus is a sparkplug on this line.
2 - Boothe is steady (his snaps, that's another story.
3 - Gilbride is finally playing Jacobs as Jacobs, and not using him like an oversized Bradshaw.
4 - Success breeds confidence. Jacobs is running with more purpose.
5 - Better mix of carries.....Jacobs was being starved, and Bradshaw was being treated like OJ Simpson. Just dumb.

It's kind of hard to open holes for a guy who is 6'4'' 265. If they couldn't open them for bradshaw there is no way they could for Jacobs. New Oline shuffle seemed to work well.

Jacobs goes as the Oline goes. He isnt a creator, he is a guy that needs the line to get him to the 2nd level where he does his dmg.

Yesterday, our oline played their best game of the year. Its that simple.

When Jacobs gets fired up for a game and decides to "run tough"........coupled with some good O-Line play.......he is just as tough a runner as any back in the league

This is the alignment of personnel that FINALLY created seams. That's what took 13 weeks, not BJ or Bradshaw

He's a part timer. When he adds to the team it's great but you can't count on him full time.

Jacobs has run very tentatively until last night. In prior games he has shown sparks but not consistently......I still think he is a major headcase. His classless/smarmyTD dance on the star could have come back to haunt him, fortunately it did not......he needs to shut up and play.....btw the Dallass defense is notoriously poor tacklers, however he remembered how to hurdle, hadn't seen that in several years from him....

Our first 100 yard rusher of the season. He was superb last night and set the franchise record for rushing TD's also at 56.

To celebrate, an update:

The problem with Jacobs unlike most backs is that he is actually faster than quick lol. He's like a freight train because he takes a while to get going but once he's running full speed he will truck anyone in the league. In order for this to happen he needs to have big wholes and our oline has sucked this year prior to the past 2 games. Jacobs has plenty left in the tank.

He did have a nice game. He is still one of the most inconsistent rb's in the league and his TD dance is so stupid looking, almost embarrassing looking... But, you're right, he had it going against the Cowboys.

Completely agree with this post. 100% Ditto! I have been saying all year it's the OL not BJ / AB, and asked the BJ haters to explain BJ's great 5+ ypc last year and the RB 3.3 ypc this year. It's the OL!!! Enough said.

I think Jacob might see a similar workload against the Redskins.....or at least, I hope so.

This team is finally runing the ball....I hope they don't tinker too much with it.

Holes are based upon width not height.

Me to.. The cutbacks, the burst of speed and runs around the end. It just shows that if he can get the block to spring him (hinoski, petrus) he does what he does best
