First, his voice is pleasant, no stupid accents or drawl. His voice is smooth and he is very knowledgable and it's not forced, just flows naturally.

I don't know about you, but to me, the anouncer is part of the game experience and a sucky anouncer ruins a good game for me.

I appreciate Papa, and I'm not sure if he gets any credit, but I just want to thank him for how he contributes to the game and the team.

I think he is awful actually. He brings very little in terms of football knowledge. This was the exchange between him and Banks last night.

Papa " Carl Hoyer has developed in the Patriots system" Banks " Yes he is a very good thrower of the Football" Seriously a HS kid could bring more then that. First off its Brian Hoyer and then Banks saying a QB is a good thrower of the Football seriously bro thats the best U got.

I might be in the EXTREME minority, but I tend to like folks like Joe Buck and Al Michaels. Yeah Buck and Michaels could take a few lessons in displaying emotion, but both convey the information quickly in a clear and concise manner. For example, if you watch JPP's field goal block in dallas last season with Michaels' commentary, he identifies JPP as the blocker after 6 seconds. Takes Papa almost 20-30 to do so... Don't get me wrong, I think Papa is one of the best radio guys for any team, but I'd still go with the TV broadcasters most of the time.

On the other hand, absolutely HATE Collinsworth, one of the most biased color commentators today. Understandable that many would take the radio commentary over having him around. If we could find Al Michaels a better color commentator, it would be really nice for NBC.

One of my favorite crews though, and definitely underrated in broadcasting, is the Kenny Albert/Daryl Johnston/Tony Siragusa group. They did the games against the Jets, Cardinals, and the one in Philly last year. Too bad they're essentially 2nd string commentators behind Buck and Aikman, because they're just as good, if not better...

I dont mid Buck except when he he looks at Aikmen "longingly". Collinsworth isn't bad 80% of the time but he is such a knee jerk reactionary during a game that it drives me nuts. For example he will say a QB is on a roll if he make two passes in a row and the opposing D better step up. He does that a lot.
I like Papa. Not one of the best but he is up there for me. But unlike many I dont get to annoyed at the announcers. They are basically a distraction for me and couldn't careless usually

Don't get me wrong, I still like Papa, I just think he could be a little quicker on identifying plays. Whether that's because he doesn't get the same view the TV commentators do or not, i don't know...

Papa does a great job that's why I'm worried we could lose him to a big network contract. He would do a better job then anyone except maybe for Al M.

As far as "homer" announcers go I think Papa is tops. Comes off far less bias than other homer crews. Listening to him on the radio is maddening though. He gets too excited before the outcome of the play. He'll have you jumping up and down and then he'll be like. "Oh there's a flag against the Giants." And this happens numerous times per game. And last season he gave up on the Cardinals game way too early.

Side note on Joe Buck. I wish the Mara's would throw some money around to keep that guy away from any Giants game for the rest of his life.

I think homer announcers pretty much have to be more emotional than the network crews. They're pandering to the team they're broadcasting for. Network crews have to be neutral, which is why Buck comes off as monotone...

Oh but Madden can always make you laugh, even if your team is sucking that game, he'd just break out something completely whimsical like "If the quarterback... gets the ball into the hands of the receiver in the endzone, then BOOM that's a touchdown."

I like Kenny Albert and Goose is ok....I can't stand Moose.......to me he makes that crew the worst crew in all of tv....I wish I didn't have to listen to them the 3-4 times a year we are STUCK with them.....sorry but they are unbearable..
