Excerpt: "How many professional athletes in the history of New York (http://www.giants101.com/tag/new-york/) sports can you name that have had as much or more success than Eli Manning (http://www.giants101.com/tag/eli-manning/) has had as the quarterback of the New York Giants (http://www.giants101.com/tag/new-york-giants/)? You can probably count them on your fingers, more or less.

"Despite his two Super Bowls and terrific play in the fourth quarter, Eli is not elite. Football (http://www.giants101.com/tag/football/) coaches know this … The Giants proved you don’t have to be all that good in the regular season. Just make the tournament and roll the dice with your pass-happy mediocre QB."

Now, had you heard this sort of a comment from a casual NFL (http://www.giants101.com/tag/nfl/) fan or someone who watches the game from time to time you might just brush it off as an uninformed comment from someone who doesn't really understand the position. Instead, here we have a professional sports writer, who is paid to cover the NFL (http://www.giants101.com/tag/nfl/) game, making what is frankly one of the most bottomless statements we have heard in recent memory regarding anyone playing the quarterback position. Who is Jason Whitlock? seriously...

Look at this from Wikopedia

On February 10, 2012, in the middle of the Knicks' 92–85 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers, with Jeremy Lin scoring a career-high 38 points, Fox Sports columnist Jason Whitlock posted on Twitter, "Some lucky lady in NYC is gonna feel a couple inches of pain tonight."[3] Hyphen wrote that Whitlock "reinforced the insipid and insidious 'small Asian penis' stereotype.[4] The Asian American Journalists Association demanded an apology. Later, Whitlock said, "I debased a feel-good sports moment. For that, I'm truly sorry."[5][6

I'm sure Jason will have his Cam Newton Sweatshirt on Tomorrow night.........I hope we crush them, and Eli throws for 600 Yds

And to think he gets paid to write garbage like this for a living. He must be desperate for followers because this is one of if not the worst articles ever written.
"Despite his two Super Bowls and terrific play in the fourth quarter, Eli is not elite. Football coaches know this Ö" Are you serious? What football coaches Jason? Please give names to these so called coaches that know Eli Manning is not elite. "Pass happy mediocre QB" Can this man really be that dumb? I mean seriously, he has a job as a journalist, he went to school for this type of work. Did he sleep through college and just so happened suckered some newspapers and sport networks to pay him for his opinions?
You have proved one thing Mr. Whitlock; you know NOTHING about Eli Manning and what he has done for the Giants since he has been drafted in 04. Your clueless comments show nothing but some sort of childish envy towards another man who has accomplished a lot in his profession

Whitlock better be careful. He's already been dumped by ESPN. If he keeps up throwing up bricks like this column, he's gonna end up moderating a message board.

Whitlock is apparantly an expert on asian anatomy, and the love life of Jeremey Lin.......when last seen he was atempting to compile a list of of all NFL coaches who agreed with him that Eli Maning is a mediocre pass happy QB......so far Whitlock has not been able to secure anyone to sign on but he might try Skip Bayless, Teddy Bruschi, and the all time Eli/Giants hater Kurt Warner for help...........

Why dosent ESPN put Jason on ESPN TV and have him explain his remarks? Most journalists would be immediatley fired for posting on twitter what Jason put up there.......as many, many people such as Andrew Weiner have found out, Twitter is a great place to post career ending comments....I'd pay to see Jason grilled by the Around the Horn or Pardon the Interuption gang.

BParcells777

Actually I love guys like this drawing attention to Eli (who gets precious little praise considering his accomplishments)......then Eli goes out and makes total fools of the Kurt Warners and Terry Bruschi's of the world.......both of whom have been burned by the Giants........I cannot add Jason to this group because he ia nobody who will soon be taking over Kurts old bagging job at the local suopermarket

I read that article this morning and thought it was comical. This was suppose to be an 'NFL Truths' column but he starts it off mixing some truth with fiction. Yes, the gmen did win the superbowl with the worst running game, fact. The giants being lucky winning 2 world championships with a pass happy mediocre qb was never the best team in football, false. Making a statement like this just shows his lack of acceptance of the actual truth.

Big Blue were indeed underdogs, and dominated their competition. Were the Giants favorite to win any playoff games during their 2 superbowl runs. If it wasn't for the refs horrible officiating, the game in GB last year would have been a blowout. I could go on but you all know the truth. Wittlock has this ongoing love affair with the ravens and I normally find his articles biased. I also find foxsports comments section to be filled with many racist and hateful statements.

This Jason Whitess is just jealous. Eli knows' that sometimes you just have to have the guts to just close your eyes and let it fly and the receivers should find a way to earn all that money they make. No fear of the dark -Eli's a true blackbelt of a quarterback.

I mean on its face: if the Giants had the worst running' game in the league and won the Super Bowl doesn't that speak volumes for the pressure that was put on Eli and underscore the fact that he delivered.

Question for Mr. Whitlock:

How many "mediocre" quarterbacks break NFL records, such as all-time 4th quarter TD record?

How many "mediocre" quarterbacks have taken the field losing with 4 minutes left in the Super Bowl, to deliver a winning drive?
