Excerpt: "It's now week four of the NFL (http://www.giants101.com/tag/nfl/) season, and that means the first matchup between the New York Giants (http://www.giants101.com/tag/new-york-giants/) andPhiladelphia Eagles (http://www.giants101.com/tag/philadelphia-eagles/) is on tap. It also means that the back-and-forth chit-chat is due to begin, and Eagles defensive end Trent Cole (http://www.giants101.com/tag/trent-cole/) wasted no time in firing the first shot.
While appearing on "Eagles Unscripted" -a Saturday night show on PHL 17- Cole was asked which would be easier to catch and release: a deer or Giants quarterback Eli Manning (http://www.giants101.com/tag/eli-manning/)?Well, the obvious answer is a deer, so the attempt at humor truly failed. However, Cole took it a bit further and didn't miss his opportunity for a swipe at Easy-E.

“Eli Manning (http://www.giants101.com/tag/eli-manning/) vs. a deer?” Cole replied, “I can tell you the deer would be a better athlete.”

In terms of trash talk, this is about as tame and ridiculous as it gets. But hey, who hasn't seen a deer evade a sack and toss a bomb to David Tyree on third-and-five, extending the drive that would eventually win Super Bowl XLII?" Read more...

I am not sure I understand what Cole is saying.........I get the impression he is trying to insult Eli as an athlete.....But this is a ridiculous comparison.....A deer is far more athletic than any human....they just lack the thought process to put it to anything other than survival.....Most animals are way more athletic than people......If you could organize a deer to cooperate and do what the combine asks of our athletes it would embarrass everyone it competed against......In summary this is just a stupid statement made by someone trying to talk trash and not being very good at it

You can do better than that Trent. I mean really? Is this supposed to be trash talk?
Oh and by the way, thanks for the extra motivation for the Giants. Every player on the team has Eli's back 100% I expect the o-line to be extra chippy this Sunday Night.

all i know, when a defensive guy singles eli out before a matchup, it doesnt end up pretty for that guy. See Ronde Barber.

And i love how cole discusses this in the first place. is he too sta sta staupid to realize his own qb sucks balls. hes a great athlete, and sucks at qb. eli goes off for 4 tds and 400 yds in a 2 score win

TheEnigma

Or are we talking about the original definition of an athlete?

Noone got mad here. The only emotion that this comparison caused was laughter. I bet his own teammates are laughing at him because this is one of the worst disses I've ever heard.

You know what? I'm actually kind of mad cause this weak arse insult probably won't even get the Giants fired up.

Whats the next insult out of Cole's mouth? Well, you won a Superbowl last year and a Superbowl MVP. There isn't a good chance of you winning one this year!!!!!

Lets see here.

Deer Top speed - 35 mph. (usain Bolts top speed is 27)
Deer high jump - deer can jump over an 9' high fence. (human record is 8.5')
Deer long jump - deer can jump over 30 feet. (human record is 29.4')

So yes, Eli is not as athletic as a deer. Neither is Cole, or any other human.

Either Cole does not know animals, or he was being sarcastic.

That's the level of education the Eagles have: None! Of course a deer is a better athlete than Eli. A deer is also a better athlete than Cole because it can run faster, jump higher and do a lot of other things that Cole cannot do. The only thing that Cole does better than a deer is the amount of **** he produces. In this category Cole wins hands down.

The difference is deer do it to survive...humans do it just for bragging right....a lot bigger incentive....I honestly do not know how many of you have really watched or been around a lot of deer...they can be walking one direction and be at a full run the other in about a step or two....they dodge trees and obstacles at full run and are graceful doing it

Assuming I haven't been into the woods? And when you see them or they wander to you, what, you act normally or you hush up and try to be as nonchalant as you can be?

Sorry I wasn't trying to assume anything....that statement was geared more for the whole message board as opposed to just you....As far as I am concerned ....when I am in the woods I am trying be as much like part of the scenery as I can........I have had other hunters walk within feet of me and never have a clue I was there

Oh, okay.

I was fortunate to see bears 3x on my hunting trips. Once, it was a normal sized male when I was going into the woods, so that wasn't a problem; didn't make too much noise and just slowly walked the other way without him noticing me. The other two, however, had my blood rushing because they involved cubs. Either they wandered off a little themselves or the family is close-by, which I immediately turn my head every which way to spot..mama, and that's exactly who I saw one time.

Dependent on which friend goes with me. I went once to Orange County but mostly I split it between Catskills and Hunter (The latter if I will have some time off).

and these are humans who train for years, if not their entire lives to jump 29 feet.

Deer dont train at all, they just do it. Imagine a deer on an exercise and eating plan, and have it train to jump for years.Yeah, add some DGH (Deer Growth Hormones) and some 'Roids in the mix and a deer could jump over Cole's house with a single leap.

I have lived on farms in upstate ny my whole life...I now live right in the southern edge of the Adirondacks....I have a friend I went to college with that owns a farm that is part of a 5000 acre private coop on the ny side of the southern Vermont border and I have hunted there since 1981 along with other places I live

This is way to stupid to make anyone mad

You'd be surprised. Eli has a lot of admirer's on this forum who are over sensitive to things. Trent Cole doesn't know what he started.

Trent Cole must be an idiot because he was obviously trying to insult Eli Manning but didn’t.

A deer is a better athlete than any human except maybe not so much if Mike Vick electrocutes and tortures it first.

LOL, wow. If this doesn't put the team on fire, not sure what will. Cole is a moron.

But hey, who hasn't seen a deer evade a sack and toss a bomb to David Tyree on third-and-five, extending the drive that would eventually win Super Bowl XLII?" Read more.......and how many superbowls do the deer have? How about the Eagles? Hmmm...not understanding the comparison!
