NFL Network 8 pm/est "Tom Coughlin: A Football Life"

Whos watching tonight? It looks great! Parcells has some good words to say, and nothing but praise for the guy tonight, its about time. I think he is a shoe-in hall of fame coach and his career isnt even over.

I think TC deserves a little more credit than he gets. Hes matched Parcells success with the Giants and given a few more years, he might top it with another SB. 3 SB's for TC, could you imagine? Wow I love the Giants

Only Suiperbowl XXV under Parcells.
The one with all four Giants Superbowl rings is Tight End coach Mike Pope.

Parcells cleaned house after the 1988 playoff loss (Rams, IIRC). Coughlin came in for 1989 and 1990.

Kinda makes me cringe when people call Bill Parcells TC's "mentor" they were together for 2 years. Contrast that to Belichick who was with BP for the better part of 20 years.

Yeah, that line about the 10-6 season kind of got to me, you could see care and emotion in his eyes.

Man, fellow Giant fans, we're living in the golden years and we don't even know it.

Good stuff. Makes me happy to be a big Giants and Syracuse fan. Tied in rather well right now. Watching this makes me wonder how much influence Coughlins actions and words had on Eli Manning being the QB he is now.

Wow, i never knew John Madden left him that voice mail. I'm absolutely floored on this one hour special of this great man named Tom Coughlin. His wife Judy is a also amazing, and Strahan was right. Without Judy, we have no Superbowls. Amazing.

Tom Coughlin is a hall of famer. I wish he was my grandfather.

That was a great watch. Very well done by NFL Network.

Tom Coughlin is the man. It just makes you appreciate this team even more. Indeed it will be a sad day when Coughlin decides to retire.

Yeah, I can't believe no one ever knew about that Madden voice message before. I never knew about it anyway. Talk about motivation for a superbowl run in 08'

It might be time for a visit to the local NFL detox/rehabilitation center the way thing have been going these past few years

Where do I even start.....

Nice guys don't always finish last. It's amazing how passionate Coughlin is. He is all heart and he cares SOOOOO much. He has a beautiful wife and family who supports him.

That Madden voice mail was unbelievable. The Giants fans and organization is fortunate to have TC as their head coach. In fact, the NFL is fortunate to have Coughlin as one of the head coaches.

GO GIANTS!!!!!

It would be hard to believe if a TC critic watched that and didnt get won over. After watching that, how could someone not like the guy?

I'm almost embarrassed that at the start of the 2007 season I said they should fire TC if he doesn't get the team past the first round of the playoffs.

Sorry coach. It was only.....business.

It was a wonderful piece, and its crazy how much more understanding I am of Coach C's philosophy and who he is as a man.

Was great to see how impactful he was on Stray in the long run (and the love they have for each other), in the development of Eli, as well as many other players both Giants and not (like Fred Taylor).

I didn't think I could love this team/organization any more than I already did but I do...lol. Coach C took alot of heat but as they say, "through fire is the spirit forged".

2 SB titles, possibly more, in the biggest market in sports, on one of the league's premier franchises as well as 2 AFC title appearances w/ an expansion team, no doubt the man is a HOFer.

P.S. as other posters have already stated, I had no clue about the Madden voicemail, and I was genuinely moved when I heard it. That was an awesome moment...

And on a further note, I got emotional when Coach C was talking to the team after failing to make the playoffs despite our 10-6 record and telling the media to "kiss his ***"...you could see how much he cared for his team and how much effort went into that season...

As stated above that Madden voicemail was awesome; I never knew about it.

John Madden sounded so moved/emotional in the message.

Did anybody catch the one scene before the last commercial break where TC was talking to who appeared to be Norman Hand?

The conversation appeared to be about one of Hand's relatives going for an operation of some kind and asking TC if he could bring a cellphone to practice in order to hear about the operation. TC goes on to say no problem and he'd hold the cellphone for him.

The date of the operation was August 5th which the show later mentioned was the Coughlin's anniversary.

Google'd Norman Hand and he did play for the Giants in 2004.

Sadly the guy passed away.
