Excerpt: "Keith Rivers' hamstring injury has nagged through the first five weeks of the season, keeping him out of three games and limiting him when he did play.

But the Giants linebacker said he's finally turned a corner and expects to play Sunday against the 49ers.

"Obviously, hamstrings are tricky, so you've always got to be cautious until they’re completely gone," Rivers said today. "I felt like I turned the corner where I can see kind of the light at the end of the tunnel."

Rivers played the opener against Dallas and the Week 3 game at Carolina. But he admitted he didn't let the muscle rest enough and wound up aggravating it in practice. He sat out each of the past two games against the Eagles and the Browns but was "excited" to practice fully both yesterday and today." Read more...

I can't help thinking how well things went for us when we started getting players back form injuries last season.

Is he finally healthy and can he stay that way? The guy was flying all over the field that 1st game.

I think a lot of these guys play hurt all season long. I sure don't want anyone to make an injury worse, but if playing hurt doesn't make an injury worse, welcome back.

I don't think anyone in the NFL is 100% healthy during the season. Just hope his hamstring can hold up. In the limited sample we have seen of him on the Giants he was very impressive.

im a firm believer that if you can't play hurt in the nfl, then you can't play in the nfl.

Rivers and Hosley this week and Canty next, sounds like we will start to get our D back here soon!

Very excited! If Rivers is back are they still going to play Williams on V. Davis? Or will they play Rivers? Hosley back is also great! Man I can't wait till next week when Canty comes back and we can actually get some solid defensive play! Hopefully this week our line steps up or we get some blitzes to Alex Smith and knock him down quite a few times!

I think they will stay with Williams because Rivers is just coming off an injury

Hopefully with Rivers back he'll be able to help out with run support in addition to covering VD. Rivers was balling before the injury

I love the fact that we're able to rotate those guys in and out to keep them fresh. Maybe Kiwi can play a little more line with Rivers being back.
