Excerpt: "These five plays propelled the Giants to a Week 6 victory in San Francisco
1) Amukamara grabs first INT.
Coming off a franchise record 621 yards the previous week, the 49ers offense was still predicated on not turning the ball over. Alex Smith had thrown just one interception in the first five weeks of the season, following a 2011 campaign in which he had five all year.
However, Amukamara, making his third consecutive start, intercepted Smith on the 49ers’ first play of the second quarter. There would be more to come as the takeaway led to the Giants’ first touchdown on the following drive.
2) Hixon’s deep catch.
After Amukamara’s interception, the Giants knew it was time to capitalize after punting on their first two offensive possessions. On third-and-6 on the their own 37, that’s when Eli Manning
found down the right side for a 39-yard gain. That brought the Giants into 49ers territory, and four plays later, Victor Cruz caught a six-yard pass in the end zone for Manning’s only passing touchdown of the day." Read more...
