480 yards given up. You think that is good. That is horrible.

I agree, the D really stepped up, but would also credit the offense for overcoming mistakes and getting that big TD. Good team win, after a lot of mistakes on both sides of the ball

Why bother? You have your belief. It's important that people feel free to believe whatever stupid thing they choose. This is America after all.

they were lights out ... if not for the RG3 scramble-mania 4th down coversion and Eli not seeing a big LB ;) ... the D would have totally shut them out in the 2nd half

sacks and turnovers galore !

D played well, Victor Cruz won the game despite the brain farting of the offense late in the game.

Both sides overcame their mistakes. It was an ugly win, but still a win. Bobby G. 3 will be making defenses look worse than he did to us today.

Sometimes, I wonder how many games a lot of you guys have seen over the years? I like the Giants to really beat their opponents up to but the opposition is going to have a good offense sometimes and we have to keep tuning our offense.

Kidding right? The college Option run O from the Skins had the D confused for most of the game. Not down on the D, but Eli somehow did it again!!

Not to sound negative but 480 yards does not sound like lights out.

If the Giants had lost this game it would be very hard to say the defense was blameless. Unless of course you don't know anything about football.

The offense would have - deservedly so - been culpable for most of the blame because man, they and especially Eli really stunk today. But that doesn't mean the defense was good. They adjusted and improved n the second half, no question about it but big deal...they improved from being being slapped around like the Redskin's *****.

If that kind of defense impresses you, well....uh, good for you I guess. I wish my standards were that low.

The D did well in the turnover department. But they moved the ball on us easily all day.

This is the first time our defense played RG3 who proved his hype. They'll make some adjustments for the second game.

The D had some highlight reel plays that were probably outnumbered 4-1 with bad ones.

Team football win today.

Letting up a potential game winning score w under 2 mins left is not considered a success by any defense either.

However, stopping the potential game winning drive to end the game is... guess it depends on how you look at it.

It was a story of 2 halfs, the first half the Defense couldn't be bothered with the game and the offense kept us in the game. The second half the offense was sloppy and play calling terrible. The defense played better getting turnovers but to many broken plays as well. Overall, not a great effort on either side, but getting a win in an NFC East game is never easy, and they got it done. Better to work on problems after a win then after a loss.

Well I think RG3 is going to make his share of plays, but the defense was getting torched today. Yes, they came p with some TO's, but they where less than solid. Washington ran for a lot of yards on this defense. Not good. They better get this fixed because Dallas ran well on them the 1st game they played this year.

True - just don't think this was such a defensive effort that they get the sole credit for the win as the OP is implying.

well...lets be fair both the Offense and the defense had bad periods in this game as well as their good periods.

After this year RG III will be just like every other running QB..Everything he does right now is new to the league. The college formations were brought over just for him.Next year all teams will be ready for it just like Cam.Cam set all those records last year but what is he doing now.Its just a matter of time and RG III will come down to earth.

Why is this argument made like it's a bad thing to have the D win the game?

GentleGiant
10-21-2012, 06:45 PM
CRUZ !

I know that. I'm referring to the fact that it's ridiculous to say that the d carried this team. They gave up BIG rushing yards and couldn't stop them on 4th and 10(which was basically the reason why Eli had to have that 4th quarter comeback in the first place).

Defense did great. VERY great. But so did the offense.

brad
10-21-2012, 06:53 PM
The defense doesn't win the game if the offense doesn't score, offense doesn't win if the defense doesn't make a stop at some point. This isn't OUR offense against OUR defense!

In the end, mistakes were made on both sides of the ball... conversely, plays, big plays, were made on both sides of the ball. Without those defensive turnovers, the Giants lose. Without the offense getting those TDs, the Giants lose. They made enough big plays, on both sides, to overcome the mistakes, on both sides.

It's not that it's a bad thing - it's just innacurate.

Aside from turnovers, the D had one stop all game, skins drove the ball everytime with ease. D needs to step up, but Prince did awesome again. Canty proved to be huge for Tuck's performance. Webster needs to be 3rd string he's not holding his own anymore

I don't think it is. But you can't call today a fine defensive effort.

The D did what they needed to do...and that's good enough for the W.

Coincidentally, the offense also did what it needed to do get the W....but I doubt anyone would try to call it a fine offensive effort.

good defense? We got what 2 3 and outs the entire game? Offense stunk. Defense stunk. But the analogy to the Saints defense when they won the SB was a good won. That year they had a **** defense too, but they just happened to get timely turnovers.

I didn't think Fewell had a good gameplan vs. the Skins.
One thing is for sure, I have been thoroughly disgusted watching Webster play corner. He can't cover underneath and he can't cover deep.

They gave up well over 200 yards on the ground. Morris had a field day, and RG III got loose way too often. Santana Moss ran throught the secondary like they weren't even there. The defense had some good moments individually; but they sure as hell didn't play a good game. Not as a team anyway.
