hate it, hate it, hate it. I'd rather rush all 11.

Totally agree. I saw them line up, 4th and 10, and I thought oh NOOOOOO! They had been doing much better prior to that play on D!

I'd prefer to defend against 3rd & 6 over 3rd & 22. Just the way this defense seems to function.

the certain times they used it, it would have worked well if guys could stay in their lane and contain RG. i'm glad they just manhandled the redskins oline when they needed to

They should rename that the "give them whatever they want to take" defense.

Unless you are up by 2 scores and looking to keep everything in front, I really hate seeing that.

Defensive line = strength of the D

Secondary = Weakness even though I hate to say it...Rolle needs to remember how to play FS, he's playing way to close to the line.

WHY would you take a piece of the strength of your defense, what it is built around, off the field and put more of a unit that has been suspect on? WHY? I do not understand the logic here. I mean is it so much worse to have 7 in coverage rather than 8? If we rush four there we end the game then and there at least 70% of the time in my opinion. Rush three? Probably gets converted 70% of the time. I remember more bad plays resulting from us rushing 3 than successful ones, so I really don't understand how A: Fewell doesn't realize it doesn't work and B. Coughlin even allows it.

man i hate threads like these. we were doing so good this season with the 3 man rush in long situations. One bad play and now we need to ban it

3 man rush against qbs that can run the option well is not a bad idea. Rushing more than that leaves space for a first down or more with Sir Robert (lol)

The 3 man rush leaves more men in the back field if the qb gets ahead of the line running. I was pissed when the stacked the box got no pressure and rg3 ran over over the place, because he got by the first level of defense with few guys to stop him beyond that.

Video link to the last time it worked, I don't remember it??
Even if it worked once, 9 out of 10 times it fails miserably.

I agree. Rushing 3 on 4th and 10 was brilliant! - Redfont.

I think I've seen the 3 man rush work once (as designed) in the three years Fewell's been using it.

Technically you can say that anytime we rush three and they don't score a TD, it's working as designed since that's the ONLY thing that defense is supposed to stop, but on 4th and 10, with you winning, against a mobile QB, why on earth would you run that?!

Awful.

I hated seeing the 3 man rush at the wrong times. That 4th and 10 was one of them.

If there had been just one more guy on that play, the game would've been over right then and there.

Should never EVER use a three man rush against a QB that can run. Just stupid.

Should never EVER use a three man rush against a QB that can run. Just stupid.Agreed, specially after he kept running all over us and breaking containment on almost every play.

Should never EVER use a three man rush against another nfl football team

Fixed if for ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HEEHEE!!

Prevents a touchdown (maybe), but ALWAYS extends a drive, usually during 4 down territory.
Any D in this league that can cover for even 20 seconds?

our DC scares the heck out of me. our DE's aren't what they have been in times past. I thought JPP would be the next Mike strahan albeit different position.

Perry Fewell really worries me with his plan

Yeah, because the lack of pressure on that play is where the problem was...

Rushing 3 might work for other teams, but it's INSTANT disaster when it comes to this team.

It's one of those good ideas that never seems to work out.

A 3man rush isnt too bad....I like it because that extra defender can be used as a spy since our front 4 never seems to contain the edges. The 3 man rush had excellent coverage, and the rush did get there, JPP just happened to miss RG3 and Osi got picked up from a backside OL. Give RG3 the credit for making JPP miss, that almost never happens to JPP.
