Throughout the rich history of the New York Giants Franchise which playoff loss hurts you the most since you have been a fan of the team?

Superbowl 35 duh

This.

But I was more butt hurt about the 49ers loss.

Also the loss to the Rams in 89 (freakin Flipper Anderson) was hard to take. 85 made more sense to me but still .... grrrrr!

It's both a nice dilemma and hell on earth to have this many choices.

P.S. - My grandfather would have said all those Championship games in the late 50s and early 60s.

Vikings in 1997. Yes it was Danny Kanell at QB, but it was the first time I got to see the Giants play in the postseason, and they were one and done...

I became a Giants fan in 99 and it has to be the 49ers game, because it shouldve been ours.

Mine would be the loss to the ravens in the 2000 season superbowl. I thought we were unbeatable coming off that 41-0 beat down of the vikings.

Oh yeah, and the whole Plaxico thing

Definitely the 49er divisional game in '03. With Superbowl 35, we never had a chance. That defense of the Ravens was so smothering (whereas the Vikings secondary was terrible which allowed us to throw all over them two weeks prior). The 49er game we were cruising ahead before we literally imploded. I had to turn the tv off I couldn't stomach watching it. All I remember was Strahan walking off the field so effin' pissed.

We need to keep Trey Junkin and Matt Dodge fresh in our collective memories. Those who don't remember history are doomed to repeat it. Weatherford has been absolutely solid. Zak DeOssie is quite possibly the most underrated player in Giant history.

You can't be serious? The defensive collapse from the players and the coordinator, Shockeys miserable drop of a sure Touchdown and you want to blame Junkin? You really think Matt Bryant would have made that kick? He had been pretty pedestrian all year long. How bout the no call pass interference on Seubert that the refs blew? You can blame a lot of people for that loss but Junkin was far from being the cause.

Definitely San Fran '03.... it was bad enough and then the day after or the next the league issued a statement that they missed the PI call. Well golly gee NFL - THANKS!!!!

That name makes we want to vomit every time I hear it. The way he kept running into the tunnel after the td, smug *******.

For me, it's gotta be SB35, if only because I actually gave Fassel props before the game...hated doing that... :-/

I remember being so agitated for weeks about that loss. Lost sleep, and I think my wife was considering asking me to go to anger management :)

But... that loss with the 4-12 season the next year ended Fassel's HC career, landed us Coughlin, and with the poor season also got us Eli.

That was a dark day but its been pretty nice ever since 04

Superbowl 35 duh

The "duh" comment was VERY premature. The Ravens flat out whipped us. They were hands down the better team.
That 49er game was ours. It was a total collapse and humiliating way to lose.

I put that Ravens SB as #4 personally.
1) SF game
2) Minnesota game
3) Rams
4) Ravens

85 loss to bears....we had a team that was every bit as good but did not get the publicity of the bears....(we won the next year with basically the same team)I do not ever remember being so upset and depressed about another playoff game
followed closely by the Flipper Anderson game( we were definitely the superior team in that one)

The 49er game was a sham and it pissed me off more than it really hurt.....the viking game we just self destructed on defense

the raven Superbowl....to be honest I was just glad we got where we did that year and we lost to the best team in football...it happens

all in all...every loss especially playoff losses kill me....but there is something about that loss to the bears in 85 that just haunts me to this day

Where would you put the 2 Eagles losses that we had in the 2006 & 2008 Seasons?

I rank 2006 about the same as one to Panthers ...we just weren't quite as good as we thought we were

the 2008 one...we were decimated by injuries and could barely field a team....those kind of games arent quite as painful as others in our history to me

I wonder what would have happened long term if Junkin didn't botch that snap, and we beat SF. Would we have gotten through TB and Philly? Would we have completely flopped 2003 and land Eli and TC? If not, where would Eli have demanded to be traded to? the Jets?

Except our early Superbowl...
As I was too young to remember much of 80's to late 90's.
03 49ers would have to get my vote.
I still remember Owens dancing and Strahan pointing fingers to scoreboard....
Ohhh horror...

Such a pantheon of heartbreakers.

Nobody's mentioned the '93 loss to SF which ended the careers of Phil Simms AND LT. That was a drubbing.

85 loss to bears, got destroyed and Matt Bahr completely whiffed on a punt.

Flipper Anderson, Parcells let heads roll.

97 loss to Vikings, finger pointing on the sidelines and gave up 10 points in a minute.

2000 got completely humiliated by the Ravens.

03 SF another classic meltdown of epic proportion

05 06 and 08 were just no-shows, eggs

I guess the "I can't believe they lost like that" awards go to 97 and 03. And 58.

not to nit pick but landetta whiffed the punt...bahr made the kick to put us in 90 superbowl.....that bears game wasn't as bad as the score seemed....the wiffed punt changed everything
