Excerpt: "Thereís no need to think up any catchy sack-related nickname for these Steelers. Blitzburgh, itís not.

They suit up an average of 23 players on defense every week, but they have only 12 sacks in seven games. J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans has 9 1⁄2 sacks by himself.

Jason Worilds (who played nine snaps Sunday against Washington) and Larry Foote lead with three sacks each.

At their present pace, the Steelers will finish with 27 sacks, the fewest since they had 19 in 1988. The team low for a 16-game season is 18 in 1980.

ďWe had only one sack (against the Redskins), but I think we did a great job of putting the pressure on,Ē outside linebacker LaMarr Woodley said.

The Giants have 21 sacks, led by Jason Pierre-Paulís 51⁄2." Read more...

I guess this means they get like 6 on us this week... Isn't that how these things normally work with us?

Although, them not having Troy in the secondary makes them blitz a lot less, which means less sacks. He is their safety net back there and I guess they don't trust the backup as much.

You know they are gonna ramp up the pressure vs us, theyll prob tweak their scheme to make pressure a top priority. Ol should be able to keep eli upright

My thoughts exactly. It will happen as soon as one of the commentators brings up this stat during the game. Sack fumble.

watch em hammer Eli now...

I hate when ppl bring up stats like this. Same thing when the commentator brings up a FG made streak and after he says it, the kicker misses...

Double team LaMarr Woodley.

at this point Woodley doesnt compare to their premiere linebacker Timmons, who might be playing the best football in the AFC at the ILB position. But, If you are talking about passrush then it is Harrison that is the guy.

That defense rise and falls with Timmons(assuming Troy is out.) In the 4 steelers wins he has 26 tackles, a forced fumble and a Int. In the 3 loses he has 12 tackles. If we block him, the holes will be there.

I for one am not impress with the Steelers. As long as Gilbride and Fewell dial up the offense and defense we displayed against the Niners we will be fine.
Gmen put the Steelers and their 'Longest yard uniforms' on ice.

This is an important game to win. It's the first game of the 2nd half of the season and with our past record in last 8/9 yrs of 4-4 and 3-5s ( we were 4-4 the 2007 SB Season and 3-5 last yr in our SB run). We don't need any negative vibes to start out the batch of 8 with a loss. We need to get that first win under our belts and move forward

I look for us to finish no worse than 5-3 in the 2nd half if not better.

They don't need sacks. They are still the #1 ranked defense in the league.
