Excerpt: "Giants tight end Martellus Bennett (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/11295/martellus-bennett) spent his off day Tuesday aiding his neighbors in West New York, N.J., deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

"I was trying to help everybody out that I could in the streets by where I live," Bennett said. "Did some cleanup around with some of the other people that live in my building."

Bennett, who lost power and stayed at offensive lineman Kevin Boothe (http://espn.go.com/nfl/player/_/id/9762/kevin-boothe)'s house Tuesday night, said he helped clear branches and tried to aid some cars, although he lost the battle with those submerged in water.

"Mainly like cleaned up the streets so people who did get their cars out so they were able to drive through," Bennett said. "We did what we could, try to give a helping hand."

The tight end, who has 29 catches for a career-high 334 receiving yards this season, said he would possibly be staying with Booth again if his home didn't have power Wednesday. He joked that he didn't want to cause the lineman's home to take a hit on the market by staying too long." Read more...
