Excerpt: "A few weeks ago, maybe it would have been a touchdown, capped with a salsa dance. But this time, Victor Cruzwound up on the MetLife Stadium turf.

Midway through the second quarter of Sunday’s 24-20 loss to the Steelers, Cruz maneuvered across the end zone on third-and-goal from the 2. The Giants receiver was open for a moment, and Eli Manning, flushed from the pocket, scrambled towards him and threw a dart.

But there was no catch - Cruz was crushed by Steelers safety Ryan Clark and crumpled to the ground.

Cruz said later that he “just had the wind knocked out of me,” and he was fine. But he wasn’t fine with the play of the Steelers corners.

For a second straight week, he accused an opponent of holding him, and he pointed to that for his latest frustrating performance.

“Dallas just grabbed and held a lot at the line (in Week 8),” Cruz said. “And this team, that’s kind of what they’re known for. Every team’s gonna do it, and every team that can do it will.”

That was just the most scathing theory for the recent frustrations of the Giants’ vaunted passing attack - a unit that began the season carrying the offense has struggled to get in sync over the last three games.

Sunday’s season-worst performance - Manning passed for just 125 yards, his lowest total since 2008 - included the struggles of Cruz (67 yards) and Nicks (one catch) who are considered one of the best 1-2 punches in the NFL.

“Offensively, we just gotta get it going again,” Nicks said. “Personally I feel like we’ve been lacking a little bit on offense.” Read more...
