Excerpt: "Quietly, on his off day, Victor Cruz made a difficult trip to Newtown, Conn (http://www.nj.com/giants/index.ssf/2012/12/giants_victor_cruz_visits_6-ye.html). There, the Giants receiver visited with the family of 6-year-old Jack Pinto, one of the 26 victims in the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

Cruz was Jack's favorite player, and the little boy was laid to rest in a No. 80 Giants jersey bearing Cruz's name.

Cruz's gesture Tuesday -- on top of the phone call he made to the Pinto family Saturday night, and his tribute to Jack on his gloves and cleats in Sunday's game -- made Coughlin swell with pride.

"Incredibly proud of what he's done. Incredibly," coach Tom Coughlin said today. "That family will remember that all their days. And somehow help to, hopefully, some of their grief might at least temporarily be spent in being able to embrace Victor Cruz." Read more...

I definitely like seeing that out of Cruz. It shows that having fame and fortune last year hasn't gone to his head...

It sounds as though he was prepared to give a lot of kids a lot of "stuff" which is wonderful. How often do any of us get a chance to ease such a heavy burden?

The one thing about this team regardless of everything else is that they are a real good bunch of guys with a lot of character.

I'm blessed to have 2 healthy little boys, who love to 'play football' and are, of course huge Giants fans. The younger one (4yrs old) walks around in his #80 jersey and does the salsa whenever he scores a touchdown. This Jack Pinto story just crushes me. I mean, of course the whole situation is crushing, but this particular kid hits home. Kudos to Cruz - what a crazy 1.5 yrs it has been for him, and it is good to see him put his (earned) good fortune to a positive use.

Excerpt: "Several elementary school-age children played touch football in the front yard of his family's home Tuesday. Many wore Giants jerseys or Newtown football or wrestling shirts as they laughed, smiled and hugged.

The children and their families left after several hours. Kids carried autographed Giants footballs and jerseys." Read more...

Talk about needed therapy for those involved.

Every time I read this story in brings tears to my eyes. As a father my heart is heavy. As a fan I'm extremely proud to be a fan of the New York Football Giants.

Victor seems like a great character. Good move by him here. I hope he never gets stained by the greedy,******y players around the league.
