Ok, that is just not fair! That requires knowledge beyond that involving the NY Giants. I call foul!

Dr. Zoom and the Sonic Boom was one of Springsteen's earlier bands they were together in 1970 so the answer would be Ron Johnson.

Since we are discussing great Giant's alma maters how about LT's. Since Mr. Taylor retired, the Giants have twice drafted LBers from his former college team. Can you name them?

me too RBC....on a side note Perry Williams had to hold the ball on the tee for the kickoff cause it kept blowing off.

me too RBC....on a side note Perry Williams had to hold the ball on the tee for the kickoff cause it kept blowing off. They took the wind, pinned the Skins deep for a 3 and out. The punt went nowhere and I believe the Giants started their first drive inside the Skins 30. By half time the game was over.

Well it meant they had 2 first round picks named Brown in camp that pre-season.

Only Duke player taken in the 1st round by the Giants.

1st QB taken by the Giants in the 1st round since 1979.

Did I get any of them?

Maybe it was George Young was infected by a alien parasite causing him to make bad decisions?

See, now I thought it was the Brown thing. Taking Derek Brown and Dave Brown both in the 1st round the same off-season? How many teams have ever had 2 1st round picks in the same off season with the same last name and same 1st initial. Funny though, Dave turned out to be the much better pick of the two.

OK guys

Did you know...

The last time the Giants drafted a linebacker in the first round was TWENTY SIX years ago.

Name the linebacker.

absolutely....Michigan st.

we need a LB in this up coming draft.....

unfortunately I dont think there are many 1st round options.....

we probably go O line in round 1

I just can't wrap my mind around the fact that it has been 26 years since the Giants drafted an LB in the first round. Considering that in the 60s, 70s and 80s it was the absolute strength of the team...

It's unbelievable.

He had 941 yards in his 7 years with us... WTG, YA

Close enough, rbc... In '85 he played 22 games with the Generals then went almost immediately to Giant camp and played 23 more games for a total of 45 games. Can't even imagine the ache from 45 games.

Of those 23 games with the Gmen, the reference states that 5 of them were preseason. Anyone have any idea why we would have had 5 preseason games that year?

That's what I was thinking, jints... maybe back then it became an extra preseason game, as opposed to just being the early game now, but you still only play 4 total in preseason. Seems like a real disadvantage to have 5 preseason when others have 4... just because of the added injury risk.

Don Smith runs it out to the 38 yd. line where he is tackled by???

wow.....zimmys pulling out the big guns....

lol. I'll be shocked of no one gets this

Not Reyna, 06
I watched the DVD a few months ago and I seem to remember it being Bahr..... I wanted to wait and see if someone else got it........I didnt wait very long...I know you were there right zim? where were your seats?Aside from being a clutch kicker, Parcells loved Bahr for his willingness to make a play like that. I met Matt a couple of times but knew his older brother Chris better duing my time at PSU. Their dad was soccer coach when I was there. All really good people.

You got it, YA. A really good tackle at the Buffalo 38. Now, Ichallenge anyone on here to think of any of the hundreds of games you've everwatched and remember a kicker running down and making a solo tackle at the 38... they're usually around the 50, praying they won't have to make a saving tackle,

Ihad goal line seats with my son, about 30 rows up. With a minute leftwe weredown at the field level fence, looking straightacross the goal line.. to the right of the post that Norwood missed wide right. I couldn't tell if it was in or out and immediately looked to see the Giants reacting... then, I knew.

Good stuff, jomo... I always liked him.

In 1994 the Giants switched to a 4-3 base defense from the 3-4 they had been running for years. 5 of the front 7 players starting in 1993 were still starters in the new defense in 1994. However, all 4 defensive backs changed in the off season, can you name the starters in 1993 and the new ones in 1994?

Well that all depends on how you define Guard. College Guard or pro Guard. Luke, Williams, Eric Moore, and William Roberts, but all college tackles, would be the most recent 1st round picks that played guard. Gary Zimmerman was a college guard, but a supplemental pick. It has been a long time since the Giants have drafted a college guard in the 1st round of the regular draft.

However, all 4 defensive backs changed in the off season, can you name the starters in 1993 and the new ones in 1994?

Here are some players that have yet to be mentioned.

#93 team

Corey Raymond

Mark Collins

Myron Guyton

Greg Jackson ( one of my favorite players ) Hated how he went to Philly [:@]

#94 team

Thomas Randolph

Phillippi Sparks

Jarvis Williams (IRemember reading newsday when we signed him in the off-season, I was excited to see what he could do for the Giants) former dolphin

Jesse Cambpell

Well done sir, you are correct. The 5 carry overs from the 93 team on the front 7 were Corey Miller, Carlton Bailey, Michael Brooks, Mike Fox and Keith Hamilton. Who were the two players from 93 that did not start in 94 and who were the 2 new additions?

The only player I can think of that was a new addition was guard Lance Smith

Well, he played offense, but since you are right he was new, so you earn a smiley but not a gold star. [:)]

Oh you mean just Defense? Then Marcus Buckley?

who was the last Guard drafted in the 1st round by the Giants? .....quick....top of your head Bonus.....who was the last before him?

Well that all depends on how you define Guard. College Guard or pro Guard. Luke, Williams, Eric Moore, and William Roberts, but all college tackles, would be the most recent 1st round picks that played guard. Gary Zimmerman was a college guard, but a supplemental pick. It has been a long time since the Giants have drafted a college guard in the 1st round of the regular draft.
the guy im thinking of was a college tackle drafted as a guard but ended up playing tackle not a fair question huh?

How about Eric Moore... drafted as a guard, played Tackle for Giants

not a fair question huh?

Question was fair enough, just wasn't 100% clear to me, mostly because I can't think of a pure guard the Giants drafted in the 1st. And I was wrong there, or mispoke, Williams while he did play some guard in the NFL like the others was a college center not a tackle.

Moore was drafted as a tackle out of Indiana as I recall and played right guard for the Giants after a failed attempt to make him a left tackle at which time they inserted Elliott in at LT, the 2nd round pick of the same draft.

Well I included Luke in there. Really have no clue when the last time they drafted a true guard or who it was. I'd bet it was probably way back in like 1974 or something.

Another hahaha... This was an easy one (I think we've had Clack questions before). My head must be clearing today....Clack wore 56 and switched to 58 when LT came along in '81... that was Clack's last year with us, and then 58 was given to Carl Banks.

1974... the years when we didn't have a home. He was the Outland Trophy winner... best lineman, by far, in college. He had injury problems and never was the force we thought he'd be. Stayed thru '77 and then traded. Jim Clack played 4 years for us. He was solid

After a game full of pounding and after getting crushed by Alford, he was able to set aside the continued pressure and throw a couple of amazing deep balls which fortunately we were able to defend. It reminded me of when I realized how tough Joe Montana was afterhe returnedfrom back surgery in the same season.

Lewis was a bust I didn't even like him when they drafted him and I' m always wrong about draft picks...I'm actually curious to see the answer to that trivia question...because if it is Charles Way , I would imagiane that it was a short pass that he turned into a big play.....for that to be Dave Brown's biggest pass play of his career is funny imo.

I'd also like to add other than the 90 team and the 2007 team, that 97 squad was my favorite we were picked by most to finish last and I think we were the youngest team in the NFL that year. dont' quote me on that.
