Peterson and like MJD are the only RBs that are a clear step above him imho.
Willie Parker?
Hah, seems I was wrong about Parker, but I was really right about Schaub and Manningham wasn't I.

Many teams have inquired about B Cain, but i think he will be resigned as early as today.</p>
I have no idea who they possibly could be looking at...</p>
The Patriots also re-signed linebacker Tully Banta-Cain (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4697), a team source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter. Banta-Cain was unexpectedly cut loose on Monday.
Why would they do that? Restructure the money or what? You do know your team though.

Hell yeah you were. I for one am very happy you were right about Manningham. I remember alot of people on the boards saying he needed a chance and would be great. They are right to this point and I hope he fixed his case of the dropsies.

How could anyone think like this....Just makes me hate the guy worse.
“We pretty much got on our high horses,” safety C.C. Brown said. “We thought it was going to be another brush-through game, and it was an eye-opener for us.”
I don't like how he says "we". I don't believe the entire D felt like this.
HHAHAHA i think the rest of D is like "who decided to sign this guy as a FA??
I hate brown...he's just a skinny LB and a bad one at that...

The white elephant?
hah, it is a good offer though.
he needs a RB, I'm offering him Caddy and Hester for Greg Jennings....
Caddy has 51 pts and has established himself as the best RB on his team...albeit for Tampa Bay.
Hester's last 2 games he has 22 points and 14 receptions I believe (he missed week 4 due to injury)
Greg Jennings has 37 points total, that's less then just Hester...and I'm giving him Caddy as well!

well benson is at least
Thomas is better then Benson FYI.
played 3 games, (really 2 and a half)
Against Buffalo without a carry in the first half, he got 27 points.
Against the Jets a good defensive team, he got 19 points
Against the Giants he got 7 (and was robbed of 2 scores he's usually the Goal Line back too)
dude's one of the best backs in the NFL at this point, I'd put him right there with DeAngelo and most other top backs in the NFL...Peterson and like MJD are the only RBs that are a clear step above him imho.
</P>
Uhh.. hello.. Ronnie Brown lol..</P>

Panthers (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/29) receiver Steve Smith (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/996), who caught one pass for four yards against the Bucs (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/27) on Sunday, said after the game:<font color="#ff0000"> </font><font color="#0000ff" size="4">"I'm no longer an asset to this team."</font>
Smith, who has six career 100-plus yard games against the<font color="#000000"> Bucs (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/27),
has 21 receptions this season for for 259 yards and no touchdowns this
season. <font color="#0000ff">"Two guys are committed to him every play,"</font> said quarterback Jake Delhomme (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/577).</font><font color="#0000ff"> <font color="#0000ff">"We try to take shot shots, but it's difficult."</font></font>

#1 WR to me is about the speed size and overall physical ability of a WR... Santonio Holmes is the bigger the faster the better athletic receiver, he's probably drawing more coverage (I'm not watching all their games) which could be part of the reason his stats don't show it, It could also be Ward using his experienced to his advantage, but in the end Santonio Holmes will be the better receiver (eventually) if he's not already better.

you say the facts are against me whether they are or aren't MMB, I'm pretty sure the facts will support my opinion that #1 WR's (using your opinion of what it is) will most of the time match, what my opinion is.
Stats Lie....constantly, they are almost completely irrelevant when evaluating talent, for example, Benson being one of the best RB's in the NFL this year.....Benson isn't good...he's on a good team, Santonio Holmes is the bigger threat on Pit...he likely gets more coverage, that's why Ward (one of the best SECOND WR's in the NFL) looks so good right now.

more receptions, more yards, more tds, more big plays... and yet not the #1 WR... hmmmmm???
sounds like somebody needs to just admit they are wrong, at least to this point inthe seasonYo Matt Santonio is the '#1 WR in Pitt'. Hines may have better stats (1td and 160yds more, but Santonio has a higher YPC) so far but if you watch the Steeler games, Id compare it to how we used Amani and Plax in 07. Plax was drawing the double teams much more often but he was still our '#1 WR' so Amani got more open looks

Pure evil, Shocks. He's playing good ol' Morehead this week.</p>
don't worry Morehead, I can't do that Stewart is a solid RB, I can't give him up for a one week Defense.

Maybe, I have to see about my Waiver pickup, if it doesn't go through then I'll worry about whether I want Philly or San Diego.

EDIT: and since when is a #1 WR debatable. Being a #1 is based off performance, not height or speed.
since the term was created most likely, I seriously doubt that everyone agrees that just because a WR catches the most passes he's the Number 1 WR...that would make Wes Welker not Randy Moss NE number 1...
Your catching on...lol.

you say the facts are against me whether they are or aren't MMB, I'm pretty sure the facts will support my opinion that #1 WR's (using your opinion of what it is) will most of the time match, what my opinion is.

Says you, I don't think Stats have anything to do with who the number 1 WR is.
it's kinda like using Int's to determine who your best CB is on defense, it's ******ed, because they don't throw it at him as much because he's your best CB.
Teams with multiple "Good" WR's often throw it to the #2 guy more then the #1....because the #1 draws more coverage.
teams like Hou who have Andre and.....? Walter? yeah they throw it to Andre all the time because the difference is dramatic.
but Ward IS good he gets open, he's not as good as Santonio but since he is good he gets more passes BECAUSE of Santonio.....just as I predict Cotchery will see more receptions then Edwards even though Edwards is clearly the better receiver.

I think its the first guy the the QB looks for on any given play...which is decided before the play.</P>
</P>
i have to disagree.. its the guy that gets the most attention of the "D" Moss Plax Ocho TO (maybe not so much this year due to can't throw deep Edwards). thats the #1</P>
the don't dble or roll coverage to #2 wr's</P>
in tecncal teamsmaybe but don't you think they got an idea where they want to go with ball first and then check down...i might be over my head...lol[:P]</P>
for sure they have hot reads but its based on whos getting the most attention allowing for a match up else where.. </P> hot read #1 choice for said play...thats all I'm saying..aaah its all part of it ain't it

im saying the stats will judge and daven said that would make welker #1.... and thats false... cuz Moss would still be the #1 so thats what
So 40 more receptions and 100 yards more receiving constitutes a WORSE season?
Welker was NE #1 WR last year going by statistics, clearly that's not true, but using your logic that's how it is.
wrong, there are 5 things which decide in these close call WR situations who the #1 is. - Receptions - Yards - Touchdowns - Big Plays - Who gets covered by the stud corners 3 out of 5 go to Moss.. hence he would of been the #1</P>
is this "opposite" day.. welker is basically a check down after a look to*Moss to see if open..*this thread has become more in sane than the rest of the MB threads.. lol*</P>
the numbers will show that...
... that is if Randy is still Randy. And this year, Randy is still Randy

that would make Wes Welker not Randy Moss NE number 1...
Now the debate is really over...
Wes is our number one receiver..He is our go to guy EVERY game.</P>
Most of the time, we only throw to Moss when the safety is not rolling over to him.</P>
When we need those tough yards- we go to Wes, not Moss.</P>
Everybody else thinks its Moss because all he does is catch touchdowns....lol.</P>
In my opinion, i would take the guy who can get open when absolutely needed..</P>
Kinda like your Steve Smith.</P>
see this is again were our definitions are different, Steve Smith isn't and never will be the Giants #1 WR in my opinion, Manningham can be, Nicks can be, hell even Barden might be one day, but Smith is our Wes Welker, his our Possesion Receiver our go to guy, but NOT our #1.
the Number 1 receiver for the pats IS Moss, even if Welker had more yards/TD's/Receptions etc etc....Moss would still be the #1 imho because he's the bigger threat each and every play to take it to the house.
Oh i get it, now your picking on the guy because he is short...lol.</P>
I understand your theory about big play ability and being able to stretch the field.</P>
To me, #1 is option 1....and on our team, option 1 is Welker most of the time..</P>
And on 3rd and 7, its just about always Welk.</P>
</P>
and if Moss wasn't double covered on passing downs do you still think Welker would get the look? i don't watch alot of NE, but i'd imagine welkers plays are based on Moss getting extra attention. </P>
Our offense revolves around #83..he is a freak of nature. Moss is just a freak. lol.</P>
Welker runs great routes and has great hands. We run many many plays designed to get him the ball in open space..</P>
In a typical game, he has probably twice as many plays designed for him, versus Moss.</P>reeally? wow didnt know that

if a WR dominates all receiving stats and requires top corner coverage.... he is the #1...
In your opinion, I disagree, obviously, I think the #1 is whichever receiver draws the most attention from the defense, if that attention allows another receiver on his team to amass greater statistics then him, that doesn't take the title of #1 receiver away from him.

okay but isn't putting ur stud corner on a specific WR alot of attention?

They always fake double coverage on Moss. Not sure what the ratio is for Actual double coverage on him..</P>
Its when we do catch them pinching toward the middle that Moss kills them..</P>
So i guess it works both ways..</P>
</P>
do they ever double Welker and leave Moss one on one? </P>
The safety on that side has to be a very good actor...they act like its double on every play..</P>
Like i said, when he rolls away from Moss it is usually not good.</P>
If you ever catch another Pats game, watch Bradys head and eyes..The man goes through his progressions like none i have ever seen...This explains how he is able to spot the single coverage on Moss.. Most of the time.</P>
</P>
you didn't answer the question lol have you ever seen Welker dbled? </P>
they are 2 of the best if not the best combo at wideout..esp whenBrady is at the helm.. </P>

Hmmmmm Clevelands #1 CB on Holmes....
Maybe Ward is playing well because all the coverage is focused on Holmes.
first off that picture must of been from last year because Eric Wright isn't even playing this season per ESPN. ALSO last year was his rookie year... so hence a rookie CB is playing on Holmes and thats your argument? And dont the Chargers run a zone defense? beyond any of that taking still pictures, even if they are in my favor, prove nothing. You know all of that shifting that goes around before the snap that the offense does? Thats to create mismatches... Yes on the Zone D... so that means they are not playing press man... aka Cromartie is playing a side and that just happened to be the side that Holmes made the catch onNot as black and white, but yes...</P>
Kind of like the wildcat being a variation of the old single wing formation...lol.</P>

Pats those plays for him.. is that because they know Moss is going to have Double Coverage onthat play and are getting better matchups? Very simple, he moves the chains..</P>
Brady looks over to the coverage on Moss, and if favorable, will call audible..Meaning the call was origanally for Wes.</P>
Some, but not alot are predesigned to go to Moss or other WRs...</P>
Its actually fun to watch the cat and mouse that goes on with Brady and the coverage on Moss....especially live when you can see the whole field.</P>

as i'm looking at the highlights of the Browns, i realize they run a similar zone defense as the chargers.. so really the whole Wright - McDonald thing isn't even valid because Holmes has Wright on him and McDonald on him...

who is the #1 in MIN? DAL? NYJ?
#1 in NYJ was Cotchery but they just got a Braylon Edwards, so you really can't have that argument right now... The only gmaes Cotch didn't play is when edwards got there....
Min? Sidney Rice
Dal - i would say Miles Austin, but between the injuries and all i dont think there is a clear answer there.
MattMeyerBud
10-20-2009, 05:01 PM
and just keep in mind.
If we were in week 6 or 7 of 2006 and we were talking about New Orleans, everybody would of been saying Joe Horn was the #1 there because we'd be saying Colsten is a 7th round pick that is benefitting off of Horn's presence.
Whose hte #1 in Jax?
DavenIII
10-20-2009, 05:02 PM
who is the #1 in MIN? DAL? NYJ?
I'd say Sidney Rice, (Roy Williams?) and Obviously Edwards.
(Sidney Rice cause he's bigger and Faster then Berrian...I don't know what the stats are)

exactly so we agree about two things...
honestly edwards COULD be the #1 there, but cotchery was lighting it up this season... theres no way to say theres a definite #1 for the Jets yet...
cotch came into his own this year before he got hurt
rice is not faster than berrian

honestly, i dont think you can go by the same criteria for a RB...
because Jacobs has almost double the attempts, but Bradshaw has about double the ypc and better numbers in every catagory..
but Jacobs does start the game...
thats a whole other can of worms

no im just saying.. along from you saying wittin is the #1 WR in dal which isnt even possible cause hes a TE (he can be the #1 target but he isnt a #1 WR) you said its based on stats... stats wise, bradshaw is our #1 but jacobs really is our #1 RB.... its about name, size, coverage, chemistyall that... and honestly there are teams where is isnt debateable.... just like AZ... fitz is the #1 but then breaston has better stats atm over boldin... i cant imagine anyone arguing boldin isnt the #2 in AZ</P>

dalas will force williams to be there #1 cause they paid so much for him.... austin had 1 good game, i dont think you can have that make him their #1... i actually like austins big game, hopefully itll open the field up more for williams now.</P>
