not with a chip shot like that... that is YOUR fault.. not blocked you just kicked it completely sideways?! no way.... 75% ok we can deal with that but you should be 95% on FGs that close on the entire season.</p>

Should be, yes! But you guys are killing him.

Who is the best FG kicker in Giants history?

Have we had a better kicker in the last decade?
</p>

carney kicked for us for 1 year... 35 of 38 with 2 blocks (you cant blame blocks just on him) that means he missed ONE all season and who knows the weather conditions and such... so yes.</p>

</p>

The one Carney miss at the end cost us the Minn. game. Would have put us up by 9 with 2:00 left.</p>

And it wasn't a long attempt.</p>

Cool, then its easy to assume Tynes would have missed it too then, because odds are he would have.

Then take into account all the close games where Carney made field goals that tynes would have missed and we may have had 3 more losses and missed the playoffs.

dude if u think 80% with kicks between the 20-39 yardline in 10 games, with the amount of kicks he gets to have is good, then you just have no clue waht your talking about
Word its not like QB completion % cause 80% under 40yds is NOT good, at that point you're a mercinary of a kicker going from team 2 team hoping you dont blow it, you're not the future or a good present, I dont think there's any good kickers comin out in the draft but maybe we can look at one of the UFA's

Why in the hell are ya'll even debating this!? This is ridiculous....Tynes does just fine for us.

You know what you should be debating? Who is going to take over at D. Coordinator next year, or why we have been so pathetic in the redzone on both sides of the ball this year!

THAT'S what the real problem is! If we could capitalize on some of those opportunities, you all wouldn't have to worry when Tynes goes out there and lines up.

He also missed ones that would have given us a better chance of winning the game in each of those games that you mentioned. So playing the percentages Tynes gave us a bad chance of winning then got lucky to have another opportunity.

Likewise with the percentages mentioned, its not fgs "i think he would have missed" because he would in fact miss roughly 4 more fgs than Carney did last year, which would have decreased our chances of winning games and thus our chances of making the playoffs.

Simply put, Tynes is not good.

my main point from the beginning of all this.....we did pretty well in the redzone against atlanta on offense so thats a positive.

why we have been so pathetic in the redzone on both sides of the ball this year!

Dude, youre right our redzone play is DISGUSTING, and having to settle with so many short chip shot FGs just makes everyone crazy and when our kicker misses a kick he should make it just takes the anger off the green/red/purple/polkadot, whatever they wanna call it zone where our play has been straight up SAD, we really do have the talent to be a GREAT red zone team on BOTH sides of the ball but I dunno what it is we're just not doin it

lol. its not a matter of wanting the best player at each position, but it's very easy to recognize where we need improvements.
I dont know how someone who can watch CC Brown for example, and say, "damn that guy sucks at his job!" doesnt see Tynes miss a bunch of short distance FGs and not think the same thing".

Correct, and that is a huge problem. But had he made those 2 as he should have he would be close to 90%. It was a fluke he missed them. I don't know why or what happened.

nobody is saying that we expect these guys to be perfect (well except from teh 20-29 yard range)... nobody killed Carney for that and we're not now..

I don't know....I don't think that the F.O., whom has so far stuck their ground on pressing matters, would have given Tynes a Mil/yr contract and supported him as Carney had a hell of a year for us last year if they didn't believe that he was our guy going into the future.

Should be, yes! But you guys are killing him.

Who is the best FG kicker in Giants history?

Have we had a better kicker in the last decade?
</P>

carney kicked for us for 1 year... 35 of 38 with 2 blocks (you cant blame blocks just on him) that means he missed ONE all season and who knows the weather conditions and such... so yes.</P>

</P>

The one Carney miss at the end cost us the Minn. game. Would have put us up by 9 with 2:00 left.</P>

And it wasn't a long attempt.</P>

Moorehead, ur being very daven-eque today with ur responses...

nobody is saying that we expect these guys to be perfect (well except from teh 20-29 yard range)... nobody killed Carney for that and we're not now..

but we are killing Tynes now because missing 4 money kicks is not something that deserves to be overlooked... its a serious issue

"I took a little hit near the leg, but it wasn't anything bad," Jacobs said Tuesday. "It could've been worse."

"I
feel good," he said. "I feel really good. I don't really have anything
bothering me. It's all mental. You've got to get in and be ready to go."

"I could've went back in the game," he said, "but we've got two solid
backs in the game who were doing a really good job of pass protecting
and running the ball well, so there was really no need."

I don't know....I don't think that the F.O., whom has so far stuck their ground on pressing matters, would have given Tynes a Mil/yr contract and supported him as Carney had a hell of a year for us last year if they didn't believe that he was our guy going into the future.

Stop with the logic, we all know that doesn't work around here.

I'd have to say my fav. ACC team is definitely Maryland.....Vasquez is a great player with a high ceiling going forward! I loved watching him play in the tournament last year....he plays so hard every second he's on the court.

I really don't mind UNC (mainly b/c I'm a Jordan fanatic), but I just don't want to see them pass UK in the all-time wins list.

Can't stand Duke.....you can't spell dUKe without UK and a dUKe loss is as good as a UK win in my book! I have nothing against Coach Kzyanasuwejdsdjkl though, he's done a ton for the game.

Great football conference too...I love watching Miami, Fl St., VT, GT and Virginia football

when talking about the distancemore or less he is kicking extra points and missing them.....</P>

Correct, and that is a huge problem. But had he made those 2 as he should have he would be close to 90%. It was a fluke he missed them. I don't know why or what happened.

Im kind of partial to the Mustache shaving discussions myself. lol. Im still waiting on wether BJ is ok or not too.</P>

He is!!! lol If we are not counting kickers who we had for one year.

I am sure everyone would rather have Tynes than Jay Feely even though his percentage was better during the time he was here.

you are such a liar

you said hes one of hte best kickers in the league and even described him as great... you go look thru the chat history...

i'd take Jay Feely back... i've forgiven him about the Seattle game after sitting thru Tynes miss 25 yarders

missing 4 between the distances 20-39...

With 21 attempts though, that is still over 75%.
</P>

when talking about the distancemore or less he is kicking extra points and missing them.....</P>

Correct, and that is a huge problem. But had he made those 2 as he should have he would be close to 90%. It was a fluke he missed them. I don't know why or what happened.
</P>

he also went to kick the ball and completely forgot to move his ****ing leg and just stood there and stared.</P>

</P>

Botched snap and hold, Blondie.</P>

u've officially gone to homer to apologist...

that ball was tehre and down lol
feagles has said he botched the hold, hes said it more then once this season too.</P>

i was at the game so i couldnt see it but on the replays it looked like the ball was still ready to be kicked whether it wasnt the best snap or not... and honestly in that case then do something to attempt to make a ****ing play dont just stand there and stare at a bird flying by</P>

You know what you should be debating? Who is going to take over at D. Coordinator next year, or why we have been so pathetic in the redzone on both sides of the ball this year!

THAT'S what the real problem is! If we could capitalize on some of those opportunities, you all wouldn't have to worry when Tynes goes out there and lines up.

maybe not chip shot.. but its not acceptable to miss 2 when ur missing 2 even easier ones...

and then just not kicking a 5th ball..

and the point I make about the % is that Tynes has one of the lowest % out of the current kickers and hes not even kicking 50 yarders in which is the cause to drop these guys %. If you take away all the 50 yarders attempted and made, Tynes is going to be even further down the list... thats the truth of it

Tynes currently 28th in kick offs

Tynes 80% is currently 16th this year and if stays on course would have placed him 26th last year.

Tynes is the only kicker to miss a field goal less than 30 yards this year and he's accomplished such a feat twice. The only other two misses in the league were blocked.

No other kicker has missed more field goals under 40 yards than Tynes has this year in the last 6 years and the season isn't even over yet. The last player to miss more was Seth Marlar(who the **** is that) in 2003

I rest my case.

Tynes currently 28th in kick offs

<font size="5">Tynes 80% is currently 16th this year and if stays on course would have placed him 26th last year.

The last player to miss more was Seth Marlar(who the **** is that) in 2003</font>

Our FG is one of the best in the league. I have no problem saying that.

We all have bad days...

all that says to me is that ur not honest about the gmen lol...

only thing about our FG unit thats the best is that we attempt the most lol

Dezz has comprehension issues

Matt was being sarcastic about us being #1 in attempts being a good thing, dezz for whatever reason thought that matt was using that as an argument as to why our kicking situation is bad, which matt obviously wasn't because he isn't an idiot.

it doesnt matter if i have comprehension issues.were still dead last in the redzone meaning tynes hasmore attempts.if the offensewas moresuccessful in the redzone we woudnt have to settle for 3 and tynes would have less misses.

who cares its all about %age and he's awful in that
nooot when it maaaatters.....

so ur point is, who cares if he ****s up before and causes us points as long as he gets another shot at it later and hits it?

Comparing a QB who had a better day than any QB this week to a guy that missed a chip shot for any FG kicker in the league seems a bit odd, no?

MattMeyerBud

1. Tynes is a solid NFL kicker, but not one of the best in the league.</p>

2. Matt, Blondie and Daven (now there's an image) are wrong. (but in a good way)</p>

3. Dezz, LandoLincoln and Morehead are right as usual (except for Dezz)</p>

4. We love you all anyway dispite your lack of football knowledge.</p>

5. Happy Thanksgiving.</p>

</p>

Add Lawl to the list of being wrong.</p>

i dunno old man i think u just even proved that ur wrong urself...

A) your outnumbed 4-3

B) you admit dezz is always wrong

C) Lando said that Tynes was great, best kicker in giants history, and one of the best in the league

you can't put em all thru the uprights or in Tynes case, your lucky if you do
</p>

I was referring to your (and evidently Blondie's too) argument that Tynes is the "worst kicker in the NFL" (enter Daven) and should be immediately replaced.</p>

Lando, Dezz and I disagree. The only support you seem to have is Daven and Lawl (<font size="5">the guy who wanted TC fired and replaced by Cower).</font></p>

Its 3 against three because Daven doesn't count. Actually he represents a negative so its 3 against 2. And you 2 are practically married so its really three against one.</p>

We win!!!</p>

wait what?

hes saying that cuz u use to have the Cowher avatar

but Moorehead, there was a time when TC should of gone to be honest. There was no signs that he'd 180 how much of a disconnect he had with the team totally. Every player there that experience him from pre 2007, that he changed dramatically from 2007 to current.

And who would of though he could of... i know i didnt
</p>

Yes I was the lone wolfe in that debate here as well. I guess I was right there too. Just like the debate about our receivers not being good enough. Gosh... I was right again there.</p>

I see a trend Matt.</p>

well apparently you never understood my argument either... i said getting a stud-type WR like Braylon would put us over the top...

you seem to settle with good enough, when I seem to want excellence.. maybe its just a difference in what we want out of our team

He said nothing we already didn't know. The season is not over so where he would place last year is irrelevant. <font size="5">He has not been with the Giants for the last 6 years </font>and we ALLLLLL agree that no FG under 30 yards should be missed. Am I missing something?

Only 2 other kickers in the league have missed a 20-29 yarder. Again, I will give that to you guys. He should have never EVER missed those but 30 + is no gimme. Kickers are going to miss those.

11 kickers have missed an extra points and Tynes is 100% so can we give him credit there? lol

They brought him in because they thought he was going to be a better option but were way wrong. Of course they didn't know KP was going to get hurt. They did the same thing with Rouse, that seemed to work out well last week. They knew what they had in Tynes and that there was no reason to bring another kicker in.

like i said you can say the same **** about eli. when eli doesnt do **** the whole game and drives down the field with a minute left hes clutch but when tynes misses a field goal in the 2nd and and hits a game winning fg hes still garbage????????????????? caaaaaaaaame on

I say the same **** about eli in games like that
well be that as it may its still called be clutch and doing your job when the games on the line which both have done more then once. tc still has faith in him. if he didnt we would of addressed it in the offseason

he *still* has faith in him(as in right now) because of something he didn't do in the past(address it in the offseason)...uh, what?
we would of went after a kicker...

No, you're not understanding. You say that TC STILL has faith in him because of the actions of us not getting a new kicker in the offseason, all that means is that TC HAD faith in him then, but not necessarily STILL has faith in him.

you do, i'll give u that... but its ridiculous comparison to compare working an offense for 50 plays or coming out to kick a fg twice a game...

offense vs defense is a chess match.. kicking the ball is kicking the ball...

granted it could get very tense out there... but lets not compare QB to K

he is not good enough to be on our roster.</p>
If Coughlin felt that way don't you think he would have found one better in the offseason?

If Coughlin felt that way about CC Brown don't yout hink he would have found one better in the offseason?

They brought him in because they thought he was going to be a better option but were way wrong. Of course they didn't know KP was going to get hurt. They did the same thing with Rouse, that seemed to work out well last week. They knew what they had in Tynes and that there was no reason to bring another kicker in.

okay so they couldn't be wrong about Tynes for the same exact reason?

you make no sense. You know the answers, you say the answers, but then u pretend they don't apply to everything just because its not what u agree with..

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. -- The Atlanta Falcons (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=atl) are looking at alternatives for slumping kicker Jason Elam (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=453).</p>

The Falcons brought Steve Hauschka, Sam Swant and Shane Andrus (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10269) and former Georgia standout Brandon Coutu to their practice facility for tryouts on Tuesday.</p>

Hauschka, Swant and Andrus have NFL experience. Coutu was drafted by the Seattle Seahawks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=sea) in 2008 but did not make the team.</p>

The
39-year-old Elam has made only 10-of-16 field-goal attempts this season
and ranks 30th in the league with his 62.5 percent success rate.</p>

Of
most concern, <font color="#0000ff">Elam has made only 3-of-7 attempts from 30 to 39 yards</font>,
including a missed 35-yarder in Sunday's overtime loss to the New York Giants (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=nyg). He made 29-of-31 attempts overall in 2008.</p>

Looks like he is not the only one Lawl. lol</p>
