The opening salvo, at least publicly, came from O'Neal at the start of the Lakers' pre-season training camp. With Bryant absent from camp due to his legal situation and his recovery from knee surgery, O'Neal answered questions about the Lakers' not having their whole team together yet in camp by pointedly insisting that the whole team was in fact there. Melky was only getting better, a force in the field, and had timely and clutch hitting
either way its still better value, being a "clutch" hitter and not so good the rest of the time is awful reasoning for thinking someone is good
only seeing batting average is horrible way for thinking somebody is good, unless you want them to be ur DH.
He was great fielder for us that was a weapon in our OF... not to mention batting .270 isn't really "horrible", especially when you have a lineup in front of him like they do. .270 would be your Third highest batting average on the San Fran Giants. ****, Melky might be ur number two hitter lol
You didnt dispute the point that you got better value in the vazquez trade so I'm glad you think I'm right. Also, 90% of the MLB and triple A would be the number 2 hitter on the Giants [:(]

Vaz will def not even come close to that from last year... the NL to AL jump for pitchers is a well documented transition...
Not saying hes gonna be as bad as he was with the yanks a couple years back (i hope), but i will guarantee he will be closer to that in era than he will be to what he did last year
The one thing I do like about him is he eats innings and he has a high strikeout rate. If he can give us 12-18 wins this season I will be pleased. How bout Matt Holliday getting 7 yrs 120 milliion? I think they way over paid for him

FIRST off Gardener didn't get injured until July 26th in the season. You can tell this because it says DID NOT PLAY next to his stats until Sept 7th.
Breakdown
First 14 games of the year APR 6 -APR 21... he started 13 games... so i guess ur right, he did start 13 of 14 games so he was the starter there where he mustered up a big .240 BA and started to be benched from there on out. You can tell the games he start by the ABs he had (yes i am lookin at walks when i do this)
The Rest of April (22-30th) - he started 2 of the 7 games
May: He did not play in 6 games. Not ALL of them were due to injury. Of the 28 games he DEF didn't start in 9 of them and he didn't play in another 6 of them. So he started 13 games in May
June: Did not play in 2 games. Out of 26 games DEF didn't start 10 of them, missed 2 of them. So he started 14 games out of 26...
In July until the 27th (last game before injury): Missed 3 games, didn't start 7 games, so that means he started, so he started 11 of 21 games...
These are not starters numbers, he was a platoon member... so lets not act like he was our guy until he got injured.... cuz I bet if i do Melkys numbers they equal if not better
time for Melky
April: he started 11 games
May: he started 22 games
June: he started 23 games
July until the 27th: 17 games started
who was the starter before Gardener got injured?

well I would dispute that... because Melky is a 25 year old kid on the rise who can play all the positions in the OF, he hits a decent average, show signs of clutch, and has a cannon
and we just got a guy who is gonna be 35, coming off his best year ever (in the NL) and who is due for a breakdown and who has already failed in NY.
It can debated where the value is.. but I think getting a similar pitcher in the FA market and keeping Melky would of been more valuable for us ten fold

I didn't like Bay last year. As I've said before, the guy wants to play his 162 games, get his 30 HR's and 100 RBI's and go home in early October. He's not a winner.</P>
The Sox will be better off. They collectively had a horrible year hitting last season so I look for them to improve just by the law of averages. Also, they improved their pitching with Lackey and hopefully a full season with Dice K.</P>
My team is fine.</P>

Doing what you proposed would have obviously been a better decision but it doesnt lessen the fact that vazquez is most likely going to be a better player and give your team a better chance of winning than melky would next year. And since your team is the Yankees, age is of no consequence, there's always someone to be bought.

if i seem agitated with you its because you don't even remember your own arguments. I was positive we weren't trading Melky, Swisher, and Joba for a pitcher like u said adn that it would be drastically overpaying...
and the fact that we sent JUST Melky for a guy that you think is typically a Cy Young candidate actually proves i was right. I wouldn't of done it, I would of rather given up Gardener is what I would of said.... but you go ahead and find where I said it, I would love to see it...

more like 4th starter, that could possibly range to the 3 or the 5
Melky was only getting better, a force in the field, and had timely and clutch hitting
either way its still better value, being a "clutch" hitter and not so good the rest of the time is awful reasoning for thinking someone is good
only seeing batting average is horrible way for thinking somebody is good, unless you want them to be ur DH.
He was great fielder for us that was a weapon in our OF... not to mention batting .270 isn't really "horrible", especially when you have a lineup in front of him like they do. .270 would be your Third highest batting average on the San Fran Giants. ****, Melky might be ur number two hitter lol
You didnt dispute the point that you got better value in the vazquez trade so I'm glad you think I'm right. Also, 90% of the MLB and triple A would be the number 2 hitter on the Giants [:(]
well I would dispute that... because Melky is a 25 year old kid on the rise who can play all the positions in the OF, he hits a decent average, show signs of clutch, and has a cannon
and we just got a guy who is gonna be 35, coming off his best year ever (in the NL) and who is due for a breakdown and who has already failed in NY.
It can debated where the value is.. but I think getting a similar pitcher in the FA market and keeping Melky would of been more valuable for us ten fold
Doing what you proposed would have obviously been a better decision but it doesnt lessen the fact that vazquez is most likely going to be a better player and give your team a better chance of winning than melky would next year. And since your team is the Yankees, age is of no consequence, there's always someone to be bought.

I want Vasquez from last year. Not the one when he was on the yankees last time.
Vaz will def not even come close to that from last year... the NL to AL jump for pitchers is a well documented transition...
Not saying hes gonna be as bad as he was with the yanks a couple years back (i hope), but i will guarantee he will be closer to that in era than he will be to what he did last year
The one thing I do like about him is he eats innings and he has a high strikeout rate. If he can give us 12-18 wins this season I will be pleased. How bout Matt Holliday getting 7 yrs 120 milliion? I think they way over paid for him

Your putting alot of faith into Dice K. Beckett and Lester will be solid. Lackey should have a good season. Adrian Beltre should be a good pick-up but he has been injured often.

Gardener got hte nod over Melk for like the first 12 games... then there was 2.5 months of baseball when Melky and Gardener were both healthy for the most part and Melky dramatically outnumbered teh amount of starts....
And lets not forget your original argument that Melky didn't start starting until Gardener got injured

Well thats why im not thinking this was a good move. I want Vasquez from last year. Not the one when he was on the yankees last time.
Vaz will def not even come close to that from last year... the NL to AL jump for pitchers is a well documented transition...
Not saying hes gonna be as bad as he was with the yanks a couple years back (i hope), but i will guarantee he will be closer to that in era than he will be to what he did last year
The one thing I do like about him is he eats innings and he has a high strikeout rate. If he can give us 12-18 wins this season I will be pleased. How bout Matt Holliday getting 7 yrs 120 milliion? I think they way over paid for him

Melky was only getting better, a force in the field, and had timely and clutch hitting
either way its still better value, being a "clutch" hitter and not so good the rest of the time is awful reasoning for thinking someone is good
only seeing batting average is horrible way for thinking somebody is good, unless you want them to be ur DH.
He was great fielder for us that was a weapon in our OF... not to mention batting .270 isn't really "horrible", especially when you have a lineup in front of him like they do. .270 would be your Third highest batting average on the San Fran Giants. ****, Melky might be ur number two hitter lol
You didnt dispute the point that you got better value in the vazquez trade so I'm glad you think I'm right. Also, 90% of the MLB and triple A would be the number 2 hitter on the Giants [:(]
well I would dispute that... because Melky is a 25 year old kid on the rise who can play all the positions in the OF, he hits a decent average, show signs of clutch, and has a cannon
and we just got a guy who is gonna be 35, coming off his best year ever (in the NL) and who is due for a breakdown and who has already failed in NY.
It can debated where the value is.. but I think getting a similar pitcher in the FA market and keeping Melky would of been more valuable for us ten fold

Signing Lackey (proven AL pitcher) as a FA and keeping Melky (up and coming young player who can play all outfield positions) to play left would have made a ton more sense than trading Melky and getting Vasquez when there was someone better in FA.

Melky was only getting better, a force in the field, and had timely and clutch hitting
either way its still better value, being a "clutch" hitter and not so good the rest of the time is awful reasoning for thinking someone is good
only seeing batting average is horrible way for thinking somebody is good, unless you want them to be ur DH.
He was great fielder for us that was a weapon in our OF... not to mention batting .270 isn't really "horrible", especially when you have a lineup in front of him like they do. .270 would be your Third highest batting average on the San Fran Giants. ****, Melky might be ur number two hitter lol
You didnt dispute the point that you got better value in the vazquez trade so I'm glad you think I'm right. Also, 90% of the MLB and triple A would be the number 2 hitter on the Giants [:(]
well I would dispute that... because Melky is a 25 year old kid on the rise who can play all the positions in the OF, he hits a decent average, show signs of clutch, and has a cannon
and we just got a guy who is gonna be 35, coming off his best year ever (in the NL) and who is due for a breakdown and who has already failed in NY.
It can debated where the value is.. but I think getting a similar pitcher in the FA market and keeping Melky would of been more valuable for us ten fold

sorry, I prolly gave the impression that it's a demotion. It's not. It's just a staffing thing.
Branch structure is:
3 FSR's(including myself)
1 BSR - front desk(we used to rotate who was on the front desk, but a year+ ago they created a permanent position for this
Basically the lady on the front desk got promoted to a position similar to mine called FST. She is training with another FSR. We just opened up a 4th FSR spot, but they promoted a teller from another branch, so that person is training with the 2nd FSR.
Leaving me as the 3rd and final FSR. It's generally recommended that trainees not be on the front desk even with a trainer, because exposure on the floor is better than doing nothing up here.
Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo HERE I AM! Taking one for the team! I used to like it up here....but i liked it cuz it was once a week maybe, not for a few months! lol

lol it's a large circular desk with high countertops....i just try not to let my supes/managers see me browsing, etc...
Basically, people walk in, I greet them...some have questions and i help them, or I point them in the right direction, or sign them in and tell them to have a seat. I also have to answer the phones...ugh...
Easy stuff.....mindless though. Being paid my wage to be a secretary aint too bad lol</P>
