The New Orleans Saints' luckiest charm -- Kim Kardashian's
booty -- is gonna be the most protected back at the Super Bowl this
year ... because it's set to be chauffeured around Miami in a veritable
fortress on wheels.

TMZ has learned Reggie Bush's favorite asset will be hitting the town on Super Bowl weekend in a Vault XXL2 Limousine by Armor Horse -- which is a tank/limo hybrid built with composite ballistic panels and bullet-resistant windows.

And
that's not all: Both doors on the limo are fitted with emergency gun
ports -- so, whether the limo is rockin' or not ... it's best if you
don't come a knockin'.<div id="TixyyLink" style="border: medium none ; overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;">

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Taj Gibson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=3986)
was still trying to wrap his mind around what he had seen as the old
elevator at the Skirvin Hotel gingerly opened its doors Wednesday
morning. The rookie from USC had heard the stories about the old hotel
being haunted, and now he had one of his own that surely would add to
the myth. </p>

"At one point, at around 12:15 at night, my
bathroom door just slammed completely shut," he said. "I don't know
what it was, but it just completely slammed. It took me a minute to
kind of figure out what [it] was." </p><div class="sp-inlinePhoto" style="padding: 0pt 15px 5px;"><div class="photoEnlarge">[+] Enlarge (http://espn.go.com/chicago/columns/blog/_/post/4864132/name/friedell#)</div>http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0126/chi_a_skirvinhotel2_300.jpg (http://espn.go.com/chicago/columns/blog/_/post/4864132/name/friedell#)<div style="width: 300px;">
</div></div>

Derrick Rose (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=3456) heard the ghost tales from all the locals, as well. </p>

"If
everybody in the town is saying it, then it's got to be true." Rose
said after Wednesday's shootaround."I don't care whatever somebody said
on this team, I believe in stuff like that. It was scary [Tuesday]
night." </p>

The reigning rookie of the year wasn't about to
take any chances that a ghost would come and visit him in the night, so
he roomed with rookie forward James Johnson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=3999), who happens to have an extensive background in martial arts, just in case. </p>

"We
were watching [out for] each other," Rose said with a laugh. "We were
just up on the computer just talking, just having fun the whole night."
</p>

The young Bulls also confirmed that they heard the same noise Gibson was describing. </p>

"Me and JJ heard some stuff in the hallway last night, too, but it was
late," Rose said. "We didn't say [anything] about it last night, but we
heard some stuff." </p>

Although Gibson still doesn't sound
completely convinced that the old hotel is haunted, he is confident
that it is different from most of the hotels the players usually stay
at. </p>

"I try not to believe it, but anything's possible,"
Gibson said of the Skirvin stories. "But [Tuesday] night was kind of a
weird feeling, to have a door just slam out of nowhere."</p>

"It's
just totally different," Rose said while describing the hotel and the
city itself. "It's more country, I'd say. It's just way different. It's
different from Chicago."</p>

When I asked Bulls coach Vinny Del Negro (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=197) whether he was worried that any of his players didn't get a good night's sleep, his answer was quick. </p>

"No," he said. "No. Everything's good. That's crazy." </p>

Although
Del Negro might not believe in ghosts, it's safe to say Gibson and
several of his teammates are ready to get to New Orleans in advance of
Friday's game. </p>

"Yeah," he said with a smile. "I just want to see other cities right now." </p>

I don't care about strikeouts... i care about outs.... Vas is due to break down. Its reminds me of everybody blowing Canty when he got here that hes never missed a game, yea look how well that turned out for us. Not to mention Vas has never been successful in the AL or been consistant with his performance.

Sheets was a #1 status, he had a surgery that kept him out last year as he was a FA, thast all it was... so whats your point? Pitchers ALWAYS get that surgery and ALWAYS come back strong

just to play devils advocate, you would trust a pitcher who missed a year due to surgery over a guy you think will eventually break down during the season?? just because he gave up a gand slam in a big game doesnt mean ****. that doesnt mean he wasnt successful in the AL. he had a good year with the whitesox in 07.

but i agree with you. were ****ing up this offseason minus this move.

My Yankee sleeper this year pick is David Robertson. I mean it's not really a sleeper, cuz people should know his ability, but hes an RP, therefore an afterthought.
The guy pitched 45 innings last year in relief, and had 63 strikeouts. Doesnt seem like alot, i know....
But as a reliever, thats HUGE! I really like this guy

Poor guy was buggin out in the playoffs, nervous as **** lol

the rebs thing is huge cuz it means he's shaking his image as a softy.
Dont get me wrong, I'm never impressed by rebound averages under 10.0, but an increase helps. Especially considering the guy is a threat behind the arc. so he could be quite the weapon if he was a force in the paint on both sides of the court</P>

13 points and 5 rebounds a game average for his career. 17 and 6 this year which is a little more impressive but this is his 3rd year. Not the best numbers for a #1 pick. Plus he would be alot worse if he didn't have Bosh on that team. Plus he averages more turnovers than blocks and is a center. The dude sucks pretty much. lol They are paying him so much money to, signed until 2015. lol

Yeah, but still, Aldridge is black so that gives him an advantage. lol

I am not comparing him to Dirk, that is who he was compared to coming into the draft.

I don't mind the international game, it is just a little different than ours however. Some people have been really good for the game ( Dirk, Pau) and some have been terrible ( Darko, Vujacic).

Nah, I totally agree. But looking back on it, Aldridge, Rudy Gay, Brandon Roy and Tyrus Thomas would have all been better. Who knows though, he might be real good. Everyone thought he would be the next Dirk.
</p>

yea Alridge isnt THAT much better, but Roy is a game changer in my eyes.</p>

It's unfair to compare him to Dirk. I feel like he was one of the only europeans to ever actually be worth his pick lol
Dont hate teh international playa, hate the international gaaaaame! =p lol</p>whats a "Dirk"?

<p style="text-align: left;">The NBA All-Star reserve team has been
leaked a bit earlier than expected by the NBA, however it happened it
is out now and there are a few surprises on both teams.</p>

The East reserves will include: Derrick Rose, Rajon Rondo, <font style="color: blue ! important; font-family: Georgia; font-weight: 400; font-size: 13px; position: static;" color="blue"><span class="kLink" style="border-bottom: 1px solid blue; color: blue ! important; font-family: Georgia; font-weight: 400; font-size: 13px; position: relative; background-color: transparent;">Paul </span><span class="kLink" style="border-bottom: 1px solid blue; color: blue ! important; font-family: Georgia; font-weight: 400; font-size: 13px; position: relative; background-color: transparent;">Pierce</span></font> (http://indyposted.com/9888/nba-all-star-subs-revealed-earlier-than-planned/#),
Chris Bosh, Gerald Wallace, Joe Johnson, and Al Horfrord. Horford is
the big surprise, since fellow teammate Josh Smith has outplayed
Horford this season and not getting any acknowledgement for the
All-Star team.</p>

The West reserves will feature: Chris Paul, Deron Williams, Pau
Gasol, Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki, Zach Randolph, and Brandon Roy.
Chauncey Billups is one of the more noteable names left off the list,
since he is leading his team to the 2nd seed in the <font style="color: blue ! important; font-family: Georgia; font-weight: 400; font-size: 13px; position: static;" color="blue"><span class="kLink" style="border-bottom: 1px solid blue; color: blue ! important; font-family: Georgia; font-weight: 400; font-size: 13px; position: relative; background-color: transparent;">Western </span><span class="kLink" style="border-bottom: 1px solid blue; color: blue ! important; font-family: Georgia; font-weight: 400; font-size: 13px; position: relative; background-color: transparent;">Conference</span></font><span style="position: relative;" class="preLoadWrap" id="preLoadWrap2"><div style="position: absolute; z-index: 4000; top: -32px; left: -18px; display: none;" id="preLoadLayer2">http://kona.kontera.com/javascript/lib/imgs/grey_loader.gif</div></span> (http://indyposted.com/9888/nba-all-star-subs-revealed-earlier-than-planned/#) right now. Lead manager is here today. She makes me so damn nervous all the time. I mean generally shes nice to me, but its a facade obviously lol
She spared my job when I ****ed up last year(only mistake ive ever made), but i think she treats me differently because of that.
You know what the scenario reminds me of? Like in the movies, and theres a guy with a gun to someone's head....and he's struggling with the decision to shoot the poor mother****er in the head....and hes wincing in pain over the though....and then eventually drops his arm and walks away......yea.....thats kinda pretty much how I feel.....
......except I have to see her at least once a week &gt;.&lt;</P>

sadly........I'd prolly still milf it if it came down to it.... lmao</P>

"Well, I gotta tell you: I'd be very, very careful who you talk to about
that, because the person who wrote that... is dangerous. And this button-down, Oxford-cloth psycho might just snap, and then
stalk from office to office with an Armalite AR-10 carbine gas-powered
semi-automatic weapon, pumping round after round into colleagues and
co-workers. This might be someone you've known for years. Someone very,

The cold weather is making it alot worse. today i cracked my window to smoke before i went into work.....the window BARELY went down which made me nervous, and then it wouldnt go up. i had to go back out 10 minutes ago to actually PULL the window up after it warmed up(15 degrees instead of zero, lol)

What pisses me off more than it actually breaking, is that the SAME ****ING THING happened to my 96 civic.

I refused to buy a Honda for almost 30 years after I went to a Honda dealer in 1981 and looked at an Accord. There was a $750.00 upcharge on the sticker that the salesman told me was there because they "had no competition".</P>

I finally bought an '08 Accord a year and a half ago. Nice car, but the brakes went at 22,000 miles. UNACCEPTABLE for a new car.</P>

I will go back to a Toyota or Nissan next year.</P>

I finally bought an '08 Accord a year and a half ago. Nice car, but the brakes went at 22,000 miles. UNACCEPTABLE for a new car.

I will go back to a Toyota or Nissan next year.</p>

ugh....the driver side window on my honda, the regulator is SHOT.

Apparently "it's a Honda thing" lol
ugh.....FML. **** is like $100 off ebay...</p>

I refused to buy a Honda for almost 30 years after I went to a Honda dealer in 1981 and looked at an Accord. There was a $750.00 upcharge on the sticker that the salesman told me was there because they "had no competition".</p>

<h3>14-15. Seattle Mariners/Seahawks</h3>

Last Title: Never.</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: None.</p>

Rock Bottom: Losing the Sonics in 2008 sent the city into a spiritual sports funk.</p>

Additional Thoughts:
Had to be included after the repeated failures of the Griffey/Ichiro
Mariners, Super Bowl XL and the Sonics hijacking. Only a title can snap
the city out of it. The good news: They listen to the right kind of
music to get through this. "Black hole sun ... won't you come ... and

Butler/NBAE/ Getty Images</cite>Michael Jordan and Clyde Drexler: two symbols of Blazers heartbreak.</div></div></div><h3>13. Portland Trail Blazers</h3>

Last Title: 1977.</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: 2000 Western finals, Game 7 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAxEBNM5cNs),
when they blew a 17-point lead to the Shaqobe Lakers as Mike Dunleavy
squinted in disbelief and Rasheed threw up bricks. Somehow, those two
are still in my life on an everyday basis. Is there a reset button I
can hit?</p>

Rock Bottom: The height of the Jail Blazers Era.</p>

Additional Thoughts:
Even though they shouldn't be eligible until 2012, I'm including them
because of the many Drexler Era meltdowns, the 2000 collapse, the Bowie
and Oden decisions, and the team's "only child" status in Portland.
People in Portland are irrational about the Blazers much like a single
soccer mom would be irrational about her only son. What do you mean
he isn't starting today, Coach? He's the best player on the team! YOU
JUST DON'T LIKE HIM -- THAT'S WHAT THIS IS ABOUT! They would not handle a Level 1 loss well.</p><h3>12. Philadelphia Eagles</h3>

Last Title: 1960.</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: 2008 NFC title game (to Arizona).</p>

Rock Bottom: Donovan McNabb throwing up during the fourth quarter of Super Bowl XXXIX.</p>

Mitigating Factor:
The Phillies' 2008 title knocked the Eagles down a few spots. At least
the people of Philly know God isn't against their city now. Or, they're
reasonably sure.</p>

Additional Thoughts: It's unclear
whether Eagles fans could have a Level 1 loss at this point since they
keep their guard up at all times. (I watched it firsthand in
Jacksonville during Super Bowl XXXIX: As soon as things went wrong in
the second quarter, they checked out.) Eagles fans are like those
premade dinner bowls from Uncle Ben's or Healthy Choice -- just cut the
top, microwave for three minutes and you have a bowl of bitter. Switch
McNabb for Favre this past Sunday, and Eagles fans absolutely would
have been waiting for that interception to be thrown. To rope them into
a Level 1 loss would take a Herculean choke.</p><h3>11. New York Jets</h3>

Last Title: 1969.</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat:
1986 AFC playoffs against Cleveland, when they blew a 10-point lead in
the last four minutes, jump-started by Mark Gastineau's stupid late hit
on Bernie Kosar (fast forward to the 2:24 mark (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEIJck8VgRA)).</p>

Rock Bottom: None. Just a nasty habit of starting hot and falling apart.</p>

Additional Thoughts:
Like Eagles fans, Jets fans are smart enough to lock out before they
get hurt. This past Sunday, it happened when Rex Ryan called for a
52-yard field goal that never had a chance. After that miss, I e-mailed
a Jets friend of mine with the subject heading, "THAT WAS A MISTAKE."
He e-mailed back, "That was the game." Jets fans are a lot of things,
but they're always realistic.</p><h3>10. Cleveland Cavaliers</h3>

Last Title: Never.</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat:
"The Shot" (1989). A true Stomach Punch. They had just taken the lead a
few seconds earlier on one of the best inbounds plays ever executed (fast forward to the 3:22 mark (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0aZ0me0j_c)). And then ... ooof.</p>

Rock Bottom: Orlando's shocking upset of the Cavs in the 2009 Eastern finals. They never saw it coming. Next time, they will.</p>

Additional Thoughts:
For all we know, this season is their last chance with LeBron. It's
going to be like a mutant version of the 1992 Pirates during Barry
Bonds' last season -- desperation mixed with urgency -- only in this
case, Cavs fans won't have the "We Are Family" title from 1979 to
cushion the blow if things go wrong. Just writing about this makes me
uneasy.</p><div class="mod-inline image image-right"><div style="margin-left: 10px; width: 300px;">[+] Enlargehttp://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0129/pg2_g_hull_300.jpg (http://sports.espn.go.com/espn/page2/story?page=simmons/100129&amp;sportCat=nfl#)<div style="width: 300px;"><cite>Joe Traver/Getty Images</cite>Don't bring up Brett Hull's goal to Sabres fans.</div></div></div><h3>9. Buffalo Sabres</h3>

Last Title: Never.</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: 1999 Finals, Game 6 (the No Goal Game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VWAtMxXVCs)).</p>

Rock Bottom:
Ditto. I mean, they lost the only Stanley Cup finals in which the
opposing team cheated to score the title-winning goal in triple
overtime. </p>

Additional Thoughts: They share a city
with the star-crossed Bills. That's like having your house sprayed by a
skunk once a year. You can't get that stink off your clothes.</p><h3>8. New York Knickerbockers </h3>

Last Title: 1973.</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat:
Games 6 and 7 of the 1994 Finals were more recent, but 1993's Charles
Smith Game might have been the all-time NBA Stomach Punch loss. We've
never seen anything approaching that final sequence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRFKhpMKX0E)
in a basketball game before or since. It's remarkable. If you showed
that play on a loop in a crowded Manhattan bar, within 15 minutes, it
would incite a riot.</p>

Rock Bottom: The Isiah Era.</p>

Additional Thoughts:
Slowly becoming the pre-2004 Red Sox of basketball. Right down to the
45 shameless writers who would release a quickie book if the Knicks
ever turned things around and won a title. Wait, I think I just made
fun of myself.</p><h3>7. Toronto Maple Leafs</h3>

Last Title: 1967. Also their last finals appearance.</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat:
Game 6, 1993 conference finals (overtime in Los Angeles). The Leafs
have a chance to clinch their first Cup appearance in 26 years and
score three in the third period to force overtime, and then Wayne
Gretzky gets away with a high stick to Doug Gilmour's face that isn't called (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N51jmflc5Io) ... and Gretzky scores the game winner one minute later. The Leafs go on to blow Game 7 at home. They haven't recovered.</p>

Rock Bottom: Probably a 2008 YouTube video of a Leafs fan breaking up with the team (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcEink9PE9k). It's inordinately depressing.</p>

Additional Thoughts: They're the Knicks of the NHL -- giant
fan base, huge city, decades of unhappiness, a beaten-down fan base
with little hope, and for whatever reason, it's always more fun when
they're good. </p>

(Now here's where a sarcastic Knicks or Leafs fan
would chime in, "Yeah, and you left out that they both stink and don't
have a 2010 first-round pick." Um ... good point.)</p><h3>6. San Francisco Giants</h3>

Last Title: Never (unless you count 1954, when the team was in New York).</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat:
Game 6, 2002 World Series (sadly, no YouTube clip since MLB knocks any
footage off YouTube in its never-ending quest to find ways to suck).
Arguably a Level 1 loss. No moniker, though.</p>

Rock Bottom: Game 6 again, only I forgot to mention the thundersticks.</p>

Additional Thoughts:
You'd think a 66-year title drought, the Bonds/BALCO fallout, a
borderline Level 1 loss in 2002 and having its first World Series home
game in 27 years postponed by a devastating earthquake during batting practice of the first-ever Bay Area World Series
would get the message out that, "Hey, we need to start including these
guys in all future Tortured Sports Cities discussions." Can you be
underrated/tortured? Apparently so.</p><h3>5. Cleveland Indians</h3>

Last Title: 1948.</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat:
With apologies to the 1999 Indians (shut out by an injured Pedro coming
out of the bullpen in a wild Game 5) and 2007 Indians (blew a 3-1
series lead to Boston), the answer is still Game 7 of the 1997 World
Series. Every bit as devastating as the 1986 Red Sox collapse at Shea,
only without the fanfare because of residual bitterness from the 1994
lockout. Only when steroids use became mandatory the following year
(wait, it wasn't?) did we throw ourselves back into baseball again. </p>

Rock Bottom: Two recent Cleveland aces (Cliff Lee and CC Sabathia) starting Game 1 of the 2009 World Series ... but not for Cleveland.</p>

Additional Thoughts:
Lost some "tortured" street cred because "Major League" and "Major
League 2" have been on cable so often that 30.9 percent of Americans
now mistakenly believe that Charlie Sheen was the 1994 World Series MVP.</p><div class="mod-inline image image-right"><div style="margin-left: 10px; width: 300px;">http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0129/pg2_g_byner_300.jpg<div style="width: 300px;"><cite>Photo by MPS/NFL/Getty Images</cite>This is Earnest Byner during the 1987 AFC Chamionship Game. Before the fumble.</div></div></div><h3>4. Cleveland Browns</h3>

Last Title: 1964 (also their last NFL championship game appearance).</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: The Earnest Byner Game (1987 AFC title game versus Denver (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqjIq1ZFZsk)).
For my money, the most underrated Level 1 loss -- he's running toward
the end zone, they're about to tie the game, then BOOM! It's like a
sniper took him out. No other crowd has ever swung from total euphoria
to total depression that quickly. And how 'bout poor Byner, who carried
the Browns that game and was so tormented that he could barely walk
back to the sideline? That game still haunts me, and I'm not even a
Browns fan.</p>

Rock Bottom: Cleveland losing the
franchise in 1995, then getting a much crappier version back a few
years later. That was like when the Ultimate Warrior came back as the
Not-So-Ultimate and It's-Too-Bad-He-Cut-Down-On-The-Steroids Warrior.</p>

Additional Thoughts: I can't believe the Browns are only No. 4. Three teams are more tortured than this?</p><h3>3. Buffalo Bills</h3>

Last title: 1965 (AFL).</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: The Music City Miracle (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PbGYsfoADwg) (1999 playoffs). Also the worst gambling loss of the past 10 years for anyone who bet on Buffalo. The rare double whammy. </p>

Rock Bottom:
Let's go with this one -- a while back, I wrote that Buffalo had lost
three straight Super Bowls, and my editor corrected me that it was
actually four. I know I'm getting old, and I've been having a ton of
brain farts lately ever since my son decided it would be a good idea to
start getting up at 5:15 every morning like he was a CEO. But still,
the Bills lost so many Super Bowls in a row that someone who writes
about sports for a living couldn't remember the exact number. We'll never see anything like that again. I'm convinced.</p>

Additional Thoughts:
They've had so many crushing defeats that Vincent Gallo made "Buffalo
'66," about a Bills fan who loses so much money on a Buffalo Super Bowl
that he can't repay his bookie so he takes the fall for a crime the
bookie committed, spends five years in prison, then gets out and
decides he has to kill the kicker who cost the team that Super Bowl.
They had to change the name of the kicker from "Scott Norwood" to
"Scott Wood" for legal reasons. This actually happened. </p><h3>2. Minnesota Vikings</h3>

Last Title: Never.</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: This past Sunday.</p>

Rock Bottom:
Hard to top four Super Bowl losses in eight years. (Although we just
topped it with the Bills, so I guess it's not THAT hard.) But since
there were so many rock bottoms, let's go with the first one: Super
Bowl IV, when the Vikes were favored by 12 and ended up losing by 16 to
the Chiefs. Before the game, a Vikings mascot tried to take off in a
hot air balloon, failed and nearly crashed into the stands. Don't
believe me? Go to the 20-second mark of this clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5G4LrgFG-84).
It's like a deleted scene from a Christopher Guest movie. Not a good
omen for the Vikes and big games. Call it a retroactive rock bottom.</p>

Additional Thoughts:
As Geoff said on my podcast, "If there's any upside [from Sunday's
loss], it's that no city will be willing to lure the Vikings away." I
bumped them ahead of Buffalo only because of their unparalleled streak:
Every 10 years or so, they rip the intestines out of their fans.
Happened in 1975 (the Hail Mary), 1988 (Darren Nelson), 1998 (Gary
Anderson) and 2009 (12 Men) ... and by the way, none of those were the
four lost Super Bowls. Not even the Red Sox annihilated their fans at
such a consistently efficient pace. </p><div class="mod-inline image image-right"><div style="margin-left: 10px; width: 300px;">http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0129/pg2_g_cubsfan_300.jpg<div style="width: 300px;"><cite>Scott Boehm/Getty Images</cite>The pain. The torture. The acceptance.</div></div></div><h3>1. Chicago Cubs</h3>

Last Title: 1908.</p>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: Bartman.</p>

Rock Bottom: Ditto.</p>

Additional Thoughts:
Cold weather, a 102-year title drought, a checkered history, a Level 1
loss that happened recently, self-loathing fans, a nagging sense that
it can never turn around ... the Cubs really bring everything to the
table. They get my "fan base that's wired the most tightly" vote for
this reason: Remember Game 1 of the 2008 playoffs at Wrigley, when the
Dodgers jumped out to an early lead and the crowd died immediately? No
faith at all. It has been beaten out of the fans. </p>

How do
you get your collective mojo back? The 1994 New York Rangers, 2004 Red
Sox and 2008 Phillies proved that anyone can get off the Level 1 List.
Hey, it's not easy. You'll shed some blood and tears. You might need a
miracle to turn momentum around, and you might even need to sell the
soul of one of your kids. But it has been done. Hell, I was there for
one of those karma swings: Oct. 19, 2004, Fenway Park, Dave Roberts
sprinting for second right in front of me, my whole life about to
change ... and I had no idea. </p>

Additional Thoughts: Even though they shouldn't be eligible until 2012, I'm including them because of the many Drexler Era meltdowns, the 2000 collapse, the Bowie and Oden decisions, and the team's "only child" status in Portland. People in Portland are irrational about the Blazers much like a single soccer mom would be irrational about her only son. What do you mean he isn't starting today, Coach? He's the best player on the team! YOU JUST DON'T LIKE HIM -- THAT'S WHAT THIS IS ABOUT! They would not handle a Level 1 loss well.</P>

Mitigating Factor: The Phillies' 2008 title knocked the Eagles down a few spots. At least the people of Philly know God isn't against their city now. Or, they're reasonably sure.</P>

Additional Thoughts: It's unclear whether Eagles fans could have a Level 1 loss at this point since they keep their guard up at all times. (I watched it firsthand in Jacksonville during Super Bowl XXXIX: As soon as things went wrong in the second quarter, they checked out.) Eagles fans are like those premade dinner bowls from Uncle Ben's or Healthy Choice -- just cut the top, microwave for three minutes and you have a bowl of bitter. Switch McNabb for Favre this past Sunday, and Eagles fans absolutely would have been waiting for that interception to be thrown. To rope them into a Level 1 loss would take a Herculean choke.</P>
<H3>11. New York Jets</H3>

Last Title: 1969.</P>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: 1986 AFC playoffs against Cleveland, when they blew a 10-point lead in the last four minutes, jump-started by Mark Gastineau's stupid late hit on Bernie Kosar (fast forward to the 2:24 mark (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEIJck8VgRA)).</P>

Rock Bottom: None. Just a nasty habit of starting hot and falling apart.</P>

Additional Thoughts: Like Eagles fans, Jets fans are smart enough to lock out before they get hurt. This past Sunday, it happened when Rex Ryan called for a 52-yard field goal that never had a chance. After that miss, I e-mailed a Jets friend of mine with the subject heading, "THAT WAS A MISTAKE." He e-mailed back, "That was the game." Jets fans are a lot of things, but they're always realistic.</P>
<H3>10. Cleveland Cavaliers</H3>

Last Title: Never.</P>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: "The Shot" (1989). A true Stomach Punch. They had just taken the lead a few seconds earlier on one of the best inbounds plays ever executed (fast forward to the 3:22 mark (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C0aZ0me0j_c)). And then ... ooof.</P>

Rock Bottom: Orlando's shocking upset of the Cavs in the 2009 Eastern finals. They never saw it coming. Next time, they will.</P>

Additional Thoughts: For all we know, this season is their last chance with LeBron. It's going to be like a mutant version of the 1992 Pirates during Barry Bonds' last season -- desperation mixed with urgency -- only in this case, Cavs fans won't have the "We Are Family" title from 1979 to cushion the blow if things go wrong. Just writing about this makes me uneasy.</P>

<DIV style="WIDTH: 300px"><CITE>Joe Traver/Getty Images</CITE>Don't bring up Brett Hull's goal to Sabres fans.</DIV></DIV></DIV>
<H3>9. Buffalo Sabres</H3>

Last Title: Never.</P>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: 1999 Finals, Game 6 (the No Goal Game (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2VWAtMxXVCs)).</P>

Rock Bottom: Ditto. I mean, they lost the only Stanley Cup finals in which the opposing team cheated to score the title-winning goal in triple overtime. </P>

Additional Thoughts: They share a city with the star-crossed Bills. That's like having your house sprayed by a skunk once a year. You can't get that stink off your clothes.</P>
<H3>8. New York Knickerbockers </H3>

Last Title: 1973.</P>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: Games 6 and 7 of the 1994 Finals were more recent, but 1993's Charles Smith Game might have been the all-time NBA Stomach Punch loss. We've never seen anything approaching that final sequence (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bRFKhpMKX0E) in a basketball game before or since. It's remarkable. If you showed that play on a loop in a crowded Manhattan bar, within 15 minutes, it would incite a riot.</P>

Rock Bottom: The Isiah Era.</P>

Additional Thoughts: Slowly becoming the pre-2004 Red Sox of basketball. Right down to the 45 shameless writers who would release a quickie book if the Knicks ever turned things around and won a title. Wait, I think I just made fun of myself.</P>
<H3>7. Toronto Maple Leafs</H3>

Last Title: 1967. Also their last finals appearance.</P>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: Game 6, 1993 conference finals (overtime in Los Angeles). The Leafs have a chance to clinch their first Cup appearance in 26 years and score three in the third period to force overtime, and then Wayne Gretzky gets away with a high stick to Doug Gilmour's face that isn't called (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N51jmflc5Io) ... and Gretzky scores the game winner one minute later.

Additional Thoughts: They're the Knicks of the NHL -- giant fan base, huge city, decades of unhappiness, a beaten-down fan base with little hope, and for whatever reason, it's always more fun when they're good. </P>

(Now here's where a sarcastic Knicks or Leafs fan would chime in, "Yeah, and you left out that they both stink and don't have a 2010 first-round pick." Um ... good point.)</P>
<H3>6. San Francisco Giants</H3>

Last Title: Never (unless you count 1954, when the team was in New York).</P>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: Game 6, 2002 World Series (sadly, no YouTube clip since MLB knocks any footage off YouTube in its never-ending quest to find ways to suck). Arguably a Level 1 loss. No moniker, though.</P>

Rock Bottom: Game 6 again, only I forgot to mention the thundersticks.</P>

Additional Thoughts: You'd think a 66-year title drought, the Bonds/BALCO fallout, a borderline Level 1 loss in 2002 and having its first World Series home game in 27 years postponed by a devastating earthquake during batting practice of the first-ever Bay Area World Series would get the message out that, "Hey, we need to start including these guys in all future Tortured Sports Cities discussions." Can you be underrated/tortured? Apparently so.</P>
<H3>5. Cleveland Indians</H3>

Last Title: 1948.</P>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: With apologies to the 1999 Indians (shut out by an injured Pedro coming out of the bullpen in a wild Game 5) and 2007 Indians (blew a 3-1 series lead to Boston), the answer is still Game 7 of the 1997 World Series. Every bit as devastating as the 1986 Red Sox collapse at Shea, only without the fanfare because of residual bitterness from the 1994 lockout. Only when steroids use became mandatory the following year (wait, it wasn't?) did we throw ourselves back into baseball again. </P>

Rock Bottom: Two recent Cleveland aces (Cliff Lee and CC Sabathia) starting Game 1 of the 2009 World Series ... but not for Cleveland.</P>

Additional Thoughts: Lost some "tortured" street cred because "Major League" and "Major League 2" have been on cable so often that 30.9 percent of Americans now mistakenly believe that Charlie Sheen was the 1994 World Series MVP.</P>
<DIV class="mod-inline image image-right">
<DIV style="MARGIN-LEFT: 10px; WIDTH: 300px">http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0129/pg2_g_byner_300.jpg
<DIV style="WIDTH: 300px"><CITE>Photo by MPS/NFL/Getty Images</CITE>This is Earnest Byner during the 1987 AFC Chamionship Game. Before the fumble.</DIV></DIV></DIV>
<H3>4. Cleveland Browns</H3>

Last Title: 1964 (also their last NFL championship game appearance).</P>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: The Earnest Byner Game (1987 AFC title game versus Denver (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eqjIq1ZFZsk)). For my money, the most underrated Level 1 loss -- he's running toward the end zone, they're about to tie the game, then BOOM! It's like a sniper took him out. No other crowd has ever swung from total euphoria to total depression that quickly. And how 'bout poor Byner, who carried the Browns that game and was so tormented that he could barely walk back to the sideline? That game still haunts me, and I'm not even a Browns fan.</P>

Rock Bottom: Cleveland losing the franchise in 1995, then getting a much crappier version back a few years later. That was like when the Ultimate Warrior came back as the Not-So-Ultimate and It's-Too-Bad-He-Cut-Down-On-The-Steroids Warrior.</P>

Additional Thoughts: I can't believe the Browns are only No. 4. Three teams are more tortured than this?</P>

Rock Bottom: Let's go with this one -- a while back, I wrote that Buffalo had lost three straight Super Bowls, and my editor corrected me that it was actually four. I know I'm getting old, and I've been having a ton of brain farts lately ever since my son decided it would be a good idea to start getting up at 5:15 every morning like he was a CEO. But still, the Bills lost so many Super Bowls in a row that someone who writes about sports for a living couldn't remember the exact number. We'll never see anything like that again. I'm convinced.</P>

Additional Thoughts: They've had so many crushing defeats that Vincent Gallo made "Buffalo '66," about a Bills fan who loses so much money on a Buffalo Super Bowl that he can't repay his bookie so he takes the fall for a crime the bookie committed, spends five years in prison, then gets out and decides he has to kill the kicker who cost the team that Super Bowl. They had to change the name of the kicker from "Scott Norwood" to "Scott Wood" for legal reasons. This actually happened. </P>
<H3>2. Minnesota Vikings</H3>

Last Title: Never.</P>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: This past Sunday.</P>

Rock Bottom: Hard to top four Super Bowl losses in eight years. (Although we just topped it with the Bills, so I guess it's not THAT hard.) But since there were so many rock bottoms, let's go with the first one: Super Bowl IV, when the Vikes were favored by 12 and ended up losing by 16 to the Chiefs. Before the game, a Vikings mascot tried to take off in a hot air balloon, failed and nearly crashed into the stands. Don't believe me? Go to the 20-second mark of this clip (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5G4LrgFG-84). It's like a deleted scene from a Christopher Guest movie. Not a good omen for the Vikes and big games. Call it a retroactive rock bottom.</P>

Additional Thoughts: As Geoff said on my podcast, "If there's any upside [from Sunday's loss], it's that no city will be willing to lure the Vikings away." I bumped them ahead of Buffalo only because of their unparalleled streak: Every 10 years or so, they rip the intestines out of their fans. Happened in 1975 (the Hail Mary), 1988 (Darren Nelson), 1998 (Gary Anderson) and 2009 (12 Men) ... and by the way, none of those were the four lost Super Bowls. Not even the Red Sox annihilated their fans at such a consistently efficient pace. </P>
<DIV class="mod-inline image image-right">
<DIV style="MARGIN-LEFT: 10px; WIDTH: 300px">http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0129/pg2_g_cubsfan_300.jpg
<DIV style="WIDTH: 300px"><CITE>Scott Boehm/Getty Images</CITE>The pain. The torture. The acceptance.</DIV></DIV></DIV>
<H3>1. Chicago Cubs</H3>

Last Title: 1908.</P>

Last Truly Devastating Defeat: Bartman.</P>

Rock Bottom: Ditto.</P>

Additional Thoughts: Cold weather, a 102-year title drought, a checkered history, a Level 1 loss that happened recently, self-loathing fans, a nagging sense that it can never turn around ... the Cubs really bring everything to the table. They get my "fan base that's wired the most tightly" vote for this reason: Remember Game 1 of the 2008 playoffs at Wrigley, when the Dodgers jumped out to an early lead and the crowd died immediately? No faith at all. It has been beaten out of the fans. </P>

How do you get your collective mojo back? The 1994 New York Rangers, 2004 Red Sox and 2008 Phillies proved that anyone can get off the Level 1 List. Hey, it's not easy. You'll shed some blood and tears. You might need a miracle to turn momentum around, and you might even need to sell the soul of one of your kids. But it has been done. Hell, I was there for one of those karma swings: Oct. 19, 2004, Fenway Park, Dave Roberts sprinting for second right in front of me, my whole life about to change ... and I had no idea. </P>

without a doubt...........seriously. i hate it though. whenever something pushes me to the edge i ****ing loose it. i need to maintain discipline!!! lol

whenever anyone in my family gets into a heated argument, its yelling, cursing, and occasional shooving. then 2 days later instead of talking about the argument its a cold "hey whats going on". an unspoken apology if you will. its kind of amusing but....

haha thats how me and my dad are most of the time....

"you spend 4 months out of the year in bed"

i dont buy it, but its probably right

Oh it's right, that is also why it's very important to have a nice bed. They say it is the second most important investment besides your car.
car? one of the worst investments imo.. it loses value as soon as its driven of the lot </P>

whatdo you drve? i drive a Olds Aurora 3.5.. nice ride </P>

Nah, I agree with you. But think of how much time you spend in your car and how important it is to have a nice one to get you around ( and have your windows roll up ). Know what I mean?

I have an 05 Toyota Camry and an 04 Hyundai Sonata. Wifey drives the Camry...
nice car..always liked the Camry</P>

gotta ask this because it has confused me for sometime.. what is "Nah"? to me its sounds like your disagreeing but the following sentence is always in agreement? is this a youth thing like bad is good? </P>

ok...

question for you guys.....

your plate is very full....

most of your time is devoted to keeping the ever struggling music industry afloat....
you are half owner of a lucrative tattoo shop....
you also own a company that runs successful charity events many times a year....

a life long dream you have had is to own a microbrew bar......

a friend buys a building in NY and plans to turn it into just that and wants you to be a partner.....

you need to clear some space on your plate....

the most obvious choice is the tat shop.....

what would you guys do?

take a chance on a bar that could fail in these hard times.......

or politely decline the offer and wait for a more business building friendly economy to rear its head before jumping into the bar endeavor ....

my head is about to explode.....and I thought I would get some feedback before I present it to the wife

If the tat shop is lucrative then how can you put it on the back burner? That doesn't make much sense.

By partner do you mean pay 1/2 the money to get it going?

Could be hard to start a bar and especially in NYC, there are lots of them.

Seems to me like you should respectfully decline and stick to what you are doing as long as that is working the way you need it to.

You will never risk more than you are willing to lose. On the flip side if you say no and then the bar takes off and becomes one of the most popular you will be kicking yourself for not takin the chance.

Wifey might put the cabosh on it anyway so maybe run it by her first.

well I would think that it all depends on how much you would have to invest but that may be too personal of a thing and also what type of financial position you are in

...also the location of the bar

I would think that if you have the tattoo shop up and running, it doesn't need much oversight

I bought into the tat shop to help a friend get it off the ground.....he has since sold his share to one of his artists and I have been looking to be bought out for a while......but it does supply income......

the bar is a roll of the dice as you say.....

the impulsive side of me says to take the chance for the love of what i always wanted....

the side of me that just paid for a PSL says......take it easy money bags!!! hahahahah

Im torn..... either way Im pretty sure I want out of the tat shop.....it has turned into something different than I originally got into it for....

thanks for the input guys

I have before, my wife used to bartend on a golf course about 2 years ago and we could golf for free whenever we wanted. I just hate it. It is so frustrating. You focus on a ball for 5-10 seconds, do everything right, swing and it goes 3 feet ahead of you. It is fun to drive the cart, drink and smoke but otherwise I hate it. I will never pick up a club again in my life. It is amazing to watch Tiger and other pro golfers. I never had a respect for what they do but now I realize just how amazing it is.

Sunday River is very nice. Its the best in Maine. I prefer Sugerbush or Stratton. If you like night life the best place is Killington. Killington is a great Mt. (actually 7 Mtns) but I personally prefer The Bush. (Sugerbush that is)</P>
