Lebron James filed paperwork to switch from No. 23 to No. 6, the Cleveland
Plain Dealer reported on Monday. He beat a Wednesday deadline to make
the request.</p>

The All-Star said in November that he was thinking of giving up 23 out of respect for his hero Michael Jordan (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=1035), but at that time he was "50-50," according to the newspaper.</p>

"I've done it," James told the Plain Dealer. "I already sent it in. I'm going to be No. 6."</p>

MONTESANO, Wash. —

Authorities believe a Washington man was killed by accidentally urinating on a downed power line after a car crash.</p>

Grays Harbor County sheriff's Deputy Dave Pimentel said Monday 50-year-old Roy Messenger was not seriously hurt after he
collided with a power pole Friday and called a relative to pull his car
from a ditch.</p>

However, family members found Messenger electrocuted when they arrived.</p>

Pimentel says Messenger apparently urinated into a roadside ditch
but didn't see the live wire. The urine stream likely served as a
conductor, allowing the electricity to reach his body.</p>

any idea of what the rotation is this year for out of conference/division play? We should be playing AFC South soon, no?

P.S. Tickets were not the problem. It was his *** showing up. I don't remember if he had to paint his nails or if he was knitting last time?

Exactly, you'd be wasting your money, Dez had season tickets and STILL couldn't make it to a game.

Agreed, I don't get the Bradshaw love, look, he's ok, but he's a dime a dozen back, the only "special" back we have is Jacobs, but I admit that injuries may have ruined his career already, Ware seems to be our best "all around" back IMHO, he can do it all, but even he isn't "Special" he's just good at his Job, but then, Emmit Smith wasn't special either.

I want a Chris Johnson, a Barry Sanders, a Jim Brown, but we don't have anyone like that, (well Jacobs was when he first joined the team but I think he's been worn down)

People are WAY WAY too high on Bradshaw imho, and too low on guys like Ware.

I want a Chris Johnson, a Barry Sanders, a Jim Brown, but we don't have anyone like that, (well Jacobs was when he first joined the team but I think he's been worn down)

People are WAY WAY too high on Bradshaw imho, and too low on guys like Ware.

your anti-ab is well documented...

Jacobs would beat him in 100 yard dash.. tee-hee-hee

and what the hell has ware done... talk about hype
</P>

I'm not sold on Bradshaw either. He's been in the league 3 years now and hasn't produced that much.</P>

I know he was hurt last year and I like his grit by being willing to play, but he has not proven that he can be a feature back.</P>

anybody else hear it?
ehh do we want him? what do we do with bj or bradshaw? i think its a long shot.
</p>

I like Westbrook for his recieving threat. What do they call that? Scat back or whatever.
I'm also not saying hey go sign him....I think BJ will have another good season this year, AB, who knows...prolly the same as usual....800 yards, 5 TDs or something</p>

was that a shot at ab mrs ware????

he isn't proven to be THEE man but I mean he has shown what he can do. Lets see if he can stay healthy and the type of impact he will have.

But I mean to not be sold on AB but be excited for Ware is well... confusing

Wow Morehead and I agree on something.

LISTEN, i know you cant beat AB's value, but he is far from an every down back, and while he is trade bait, a team that would start him as such would be disappointed.
I LIKE AB!!!! I like him i just dont know why ppl think he's the best thing since sliced bread.

Spiller is definately a stud but I think the FO still likes Andre Brown. And so many good safeties in this years draft. A good one should drop to usin the second or third. But I don't think any of the big 3 will. (Berry, Mays, Thomas)</P>

i know man. dont get me wrong im not all crazy about him but i think hes pretty good. whenever i see him hes making guys miss or is straight breaking tackles. his only problem is i dont think hes all that fast. he has good acceleration and whatnot

bradshaws a little beast, 1:08 is against the ravens and its so pretty. haha he breaks ray rays ankles, but he gets caught at like the 10 bringing up my not all that fast statement. but good god what a play. what a game. we were the first team in like 30 games to put over 100 yards on them if i remember correctly and we put up over 200.....amazing.

see tho my argument for Chris Johnson is that even though he is ****in NASTY and the truth, he broke so many big plays for scores there wasn't even time to run thunder and ligthening with Lendale.

Na man trust me, if thats one thing i KNOW for sure,99% of the time on third downs, whether its a yard or 15 Chester was in. I seen too many Minny games this year and had AP on my fantasy squad so TRUST me i had a season of fury with it

Turner had 1 year of dominating, preceded by three years as a backup (granted it was with LT, but still it is what it is). Even in that year of being the beast, Norwood still had 100 carries. Turners career may be done. Its hard to crown a guy for one years worth of work as a stud feature back

na Slaton is far from a feature back. Never served a full season as the #1 in his career yet
reallly? whos behind him? and come on man turner had over 300 carries a year ago

Turner had 1 year of dominating, preceded by three years as a backup (granted it was with LT, but still it is what it is). Even in that year of being the beast, Norwood still had 100 carries. Turners career may be done. Its hard to crown a guy for one years worth of work as a stud feature back
well he never started until 08 and that was his one good year and he was injured most of this season

i have a hard time crowning somebody as Elite just for one season, no matter how great it is
no one said elite buddy. number 1 material.

i dunno to say a guy who played hurt all year, split time and had 800 yards and 7 tds isn't something to look forward too, especially with his big play ability... it just boggles my mind... or could never be a #1 is crazy too me.

He can catch, hes strong, hes fast, he can run.. just needs to do a better job at pass blocking

Pass blocking is hugely important with one of the highest payed QB's in the NFL on our team, especially now since we have transformed into a pass first offense.

the RB just doesn't matter as much as it used to.

we haven't transformed into a pass first offense... the truth is we've had a balance attack all year...

thats the problem...

the truth is our running game just wasn't effective. The line regressed and both our backs were injured most of the year while everybody was daring us to throw it...

09 - 542 passes, 443 rushes

08 - 491 passes, 502 rushes

07 - 544 passes, 469 rushes

when your in a down or mediocre season your going to pass the ball more, when your stomping on everyone your going to run more...

I mean if anything 2007 was our real sick rushing year and we were totally comparable to 09 where u considered us a passing team

bradshaw will be fine in that area, i thought he was getting better at the end of the season to
plus i dont think well be as pass happy this upcoming year. as long as our running backs are healthy were running first

When you are blowing out teams you run more, when you are being blown out, you pass more...agreed.

but actual wins/losses don't matter, in close games you don't see a real impact eitherway.

question, last year did we blow out or get blown out more...don't forget those first 5 games.....

we weren't balanced, if we were we'd have had more runs then passes since we blew out more teams then we got blown out by.

I'm really not concerned whether he will be fine in that area or not, because I don't think there is a chance in hell he's going to carry the ball enough that it will matter, would I like him to be better there? sure, but if he doesn't improve it's not a huge deal, he'll never be a 15-20 carry a game back, he'll always be the change of pace guy, Ware/Jacobs are all ahead of him as far as "carry the load" backs are concerned, in my opinion.

Anyhow I'm out for today later guys.

The Thrashers (http://g.ajc.com/r/Cy/) on Tuesday signed
defenseman Chris Chelios, a 25-year NHL veteran.</p>
<div class="cxAdvertisement" id="RP01">
<!--adt:yahooAdCall position="RP01" sectionName="thrashers" articleType="story"
metaKeywords="Thrashers, AJC, 342344" localSite="www.ajc.com"-->
<script>yld_mgr.place_ad_here("right_slot");</script>
</div>

The <font size="6">48-year-old</font> Chelios, an unrestricted free agent, has spent much
of this season playing for Thrashers (http://g.ajc.com/r/Cy/)’
AHL affiliate in Chicago, although he was not property of the Atlanta
team.</p>

Chelios must clear waivers and then will be re-assigned to AHL
Chicago if he is not claimed by another NHL team by noon Wednesday.</p>

The signing gives the Thrashers (http://g.ajc.com/r/Cy/)
veteran depth on defense in case of injury, said Thrashers (http://g.ajc.com/r/Cy/) general manager Don Waddell.</p>

“You never know,” Waddell said when asked the likelihood that Chelios
would be called up to the NHL. “We have a busy schedule [in March].
When you go into a run like this, you like to have 10 defensemen in case
you get a couple of injuries.”</p>

Chelios signed a two-way contract in October. His prorated salary (http://g.ajc.com/r/DF/) will be $700,000 while in the
NHL and $105,000 when in the AHL. Should the Thrashers (http://g.ajc.com/r/Cy/) call up Chelios, he would
not have to pass through waivers again.</p>

Chelios has appeared in 44 games for the Wolves with five goals and
16 assists. He is second in the AHL with a plus-35 rating. He has
registered a plus or even performance in 40 of his 44 games this season.
He is averaging almost 24 minutes a game.</p>

Waddell said the signing of Chelios would not impact the seven
defensemen currently on the Thrashers (http://g.ajc.com/r/Cy/)’
active roster.</p>

“He’s done a tremendous job in Chicago,” Waddell said. “He’s a
leader, a teacher and is in great condition. He is a great example to
our young players.”</p>

Chelios has been paired with Arturs Kulda in Chicago. Kulda played
two games with the Thrashers (http://g.ajc.com/r/Cy/) before
the recent Olympic break.</p>

Over his 25-year NHL career, Chelios won three Stanley Cups. He
scored 948 points (185 goals, 763 assists) with 2,891 penalty minutes in
1,644 career games with the Red Wings, Blackhawks and Canadiens. In a
NHL-record 266 career playoff games, Chelios has 144 points (31 goals,
113 assists). He is an 11-time All-Star and three-time winner of the
Norris Trophy as the NHL’s top defenseman.</p>

Chelios won the Stanley Cup with the Canadiens (1986) and twice with
the Red Wings (2002 and 2008). He captained the U.S. men’s teams at the
1998, 2002 and 2006 Winter Olympics.</p>

But...the place is too big to clean so we have to pay a cleaning lady...and we have to buy more cleaning supplies and TP and bathroom **** than your average person, so its more like $600
It's a house my buddy bought public auction, for $200k, tore apart, and rebuilt....now 4 of us live there comfortably.</P>

Sources say that the New York Giants are ready to offer unrestricted
free agent, Julius Peppers 100 million dollars for seven years,
including a hefty signing bonus. It has been noted that Peppers and
his camp will field a minimum of seven offers by week's end.

One year after the Giants were spurned by free agent DT Albert
Haynesworth after offering 80 million to come play with Big Blue, the
Giants have stepped up their pursuit of a game changing defensive
superstar.</p>

On January 16, 2009, Peppers spoke very candidly about not
re-signing with the Carolina Panthers. <font color="#0000ff">He also expressed the desire or
willingness to convert from a defensive end to outside linebacker to
fit a 4/3 scheme.</font></p>

<p style="padding-left: 30px;">On Friday night, the Saints’
staff at the combine gathered in a private room at St. Elmo Steakhouse,
an 108-year-old Indy landmark, for a final celebratory nod to the Super
Bowl win over the Colts. This is a group that likes its wine, and likes
to have fun.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">At the restaurant, word
passed that Dallas owner Jerry Jones would have his Dallas group in
this exact room Saturday night for a team dinner. Jones had even phoned
ahead, according to a waiter, to make sure a magnum of a wine he loved,
Caymus Special Selection cabernet sauvignon, was ready to be served at
dinner.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Sean Payton told the waiter
he’d like to have that wine, too. The waiter told him: Sorry, sir. We
have only one bottle left, and it’s reserved for Mr. Jones.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Payton said he’d like to
have the bottle nonetheless. I assume there was much angst on the part
of the wait staff at that point. My God! Who do we piss off? One of the
most powerful owners in the NFL, or the coach who’s the toast of the
NFL, the coach who just won the Super Bowl?</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">Here came the bottle of Caymus Special Selection, and the Saints’ party drained it.</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">But drinking Jones’ wine
wasn’t enough. Payton gave the waiter some instructions, took out his
pen … and, well, the Cowboys party found at the middle of their table
the next evening an empty magnum of Caymus Special Selection cabernet
sauvignon, with these words hand-written on the fancy label:</p>
<p style="padding-left: 30px;">WHO DAT!

we're talking possibly thee best defensive end in the league...

I dont see a way to block Tuck and Peppers consistantly

and i beg to differ when you have a team like we do, we are currently in the just add pieces stage. Our base is built and we may be losing part of our base.

If this is true, then I mean we could be thinkin of moving Tuck to DT or Peppers to OLB, but its doubtful. Smart money is on Osi being out.

no cap this year, so i don't care about money. And if you think Osi isn't gonna hold out for a HUGE contract in a year or so then ur nuts.

Don't discredit JR's ability to write contracts either. There will be loopholes and stipulations. Just because it's 100 mil doesn't mean he gets all that. It's all about the guaranteed number. Do we not remember the Eli situation....

I think Favre has proven that QB is further from the truth then DE.

point is, for the more physically demanding positions, that require speed, burst and strength, Age effects their ability sooner then other positions, I think DE is one of those positions, but even if you didn't, it's a 7 year contract, when do you think age "will" start to effect him, assuming, you believe he's actually human.

Spider is the smartest football mind I've ever met.....I can't even get close to his level when we talk...so I just listen. Every offseason Spider and I discuss trades and free-agency. We always come back to the point, that in the past, the Gmen have always had great luck signing up and comers coming off their rookie contracts from other teams.
What's wrong with that train of thought. That's how we got McKenzie and Pierce and Robbins...all of whom worked our pretty well for us...Kawika Mitchell on his 1 year deal was also awesome.

ok, but they don't play "As" well as they did earlier in their careers, I'd rather have the next Peppers, coming into his prime, then the current peppers who can only go down from here on out, especially if we are talking a 7 year contract.

Strahan is one of the greatest ever to play the game period...

but the truth hurts

PEppers in 8 years: 122 games, 382 tackles, 81 sacks, 30 forced fumbles

Strahan in his first 8 years, 119 games, 327 tackles, 62 sacks, 9 forced fumbles

i'd say around 35, seeing as how hes been healthy and may be one of the best DEs to ever play the game... and im not being over the top, u'd be hard pressed to find a guy thats had a better career in their first 8 years....
