Matt,</p>

The Bears just signed Julius Peppers for 6 years, $72MM.</p>

But alas...Moorehead never gloats. Fridays are for love.</p>

so essentially same money at teh end of the day as Haynesworth except one year less on a contract and hes two years older...

so what were u saying baout teams learning from the HAynesworth debacle?
</p>

I'm trying to be big here. You predicted $130MM. I predicted $15MM/yr for 5 or 6 years. Its even less than I predicted.</p>

Lets keep it real. Show me something.</p>

lol i wasn't serious about 130 million dude lol

I dont even think Peyton gets paid that much,

I did say it would be significantly better than Haynesworth.... not as much better as I thought it would be I admit... but it is a better contract.

I knew u were gonna get caught up in the 100mil... lol

</p>

Its less than I predicted. You claimed that $100MM was reasonable for Peppers. I said it would be nuts to pay him that much. The $100MM figure came from you yesterday.</p>

Be a man.</p>

na i def thought he was gonna ge tmore.. i just said that in what u qouted...

it is a better contract than Haynesworth's tho
</p>

Haynesworth got a 7 year contract with $41MM guaranteed. Reportedly this is 6 years with $40MM guarenteed. That makes Haynesworths deal better than Peppers.</p>

1. Peppers is by any definition a better player than Haynesworth.</p>

2. Peppers<u> lesser</u> deal can in your imfamous "uncapped year" which you claimed was going to have much more money thrown at the players.</p>

Ergo, a better player getting a smaller deal a year later suggests EXACTLY what I said. That this year will actually be a worse year for free agents due to the pending lock out.</p>

40 guaranteed over 6 is a smaller deal than 41 guaranteed over 7?

Where did u learn math from?

</p>

By your own logic I'm right. if they both play out thier contract Haynesworth gets $100MM for 7 years and peppers gets $72MM. Other than that, the quaranteed $$$ is slightly higher for Haynesworth.</p>

The real point is, I didn't use 'this guys contract vs. that guys contract' which isn't apples vs. apples. I used actual numbers when I said 5 or 6 years for around $15MM. I was almost exactly right.</p>

You my friend....were <font size="4">WRONG.</font></p>

Admit it and we'll be done with this.</p>

i do admit i was wrong

but Peppers still has the better deal than Haynesworth

i dunno, dont get hopes up til its final...

i am really surprised.. I think this says something baout Fewell tho... and im not sure its a good thing
</p>

wutcha mean?</p>

i dunno Fewell is a secondary guy. I thought by getitng him we were gonna look to go young, develop and do all of that. Sign like a midrange FA

I dunno I thought he was gonna be brought in so we could build it not just sign a FA.

I love it but I dunno it kinda tells me that maybe the Giants aren't as confident that Fewell is THEE guy ya know.

I dunno maybe im reading into it too much
</p>

I think youre reading into too much.

I think that they recognized a sizable gap in depth, and corrected it best they could. And look at it this way...our secondary still IS VERY young. Oldest guy back there is Ross? lol
Well Brown actually...but he doesnt count =P</p>

well now Rolle who is 28

Jay-Z and Beyonce visited their good friend President Barack Obama at the White House on Thursday ... and from the looks of it, Hova felt right at home underneath the presidential seal.

While they didn't announce their candidacy, Bey &amp; Jay -- along with Tina Knowles, Trey Songz and the rest of their entourage -- did snap a couple of pics inside 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has been accused of sexual assault by a young woman in Georgia, TMZ has learned.

The alleged incident occurred early this morning at Capital City -- a club in Milledgeville, Georgia.

According
to law enforcement sources, the alleged victim -- who has already been
interviewed by police -- was treated at a local hospital and released.

We're
told in addition to the alleged victim, witnesses are being interviewed
-- and one law enforcement source says they will attempt to interview
Roethlisberger.

In addition to the Milledgeville Police Dept, we've learned the Georgia Bureau of Investigations is also investigating.

As
we previously reported, Roethlisberger is being sued by a Reno woman,
Andrea McNulty, who claims the QB sexually assaulted her in 2008.

UPDATE:
We're told Ben Roethlisberger has already been interviewed by police.
We're also told no formal charges have been filed at this point.

With Welker uncertain I am not surprised by it. Plus Moss said he thinks this will be his last year playing in NE. But imagine Welker get healthy faster than expected and they have Moss, Welker and Boldin. PatsRule could be the running back and they would still kill it.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that free agent Julius Peppers will receive $40 million in the first three years of his deal with Chicago.
<FONT color=blue>The $40 million is expected to be guaranteed, ensuring that Peppers will have received roughly $60 million between the 2008 and 2012 seasons, including his back-to-back franchise tags from the Panthers. Peppers' deal with the Bears is imminent and figures to be finalized within the next hour.</FONT></P>

He think they'll be the most dynamic safety tandem in the entire NFL (http://www.nydailynews.com/topics/National+Football+League).

"The
best in the league, hands down," Rolle said on a conference call with
reportersSaturday morning. "Without a doubt. Ö I mean, The sky's the
limit for us. We're definitely going to go out and make things happen."</p>

He's known Phillips since he presented him an award when Phillips was
still in high school. He knows he's a "dynamic athlete."</p>

Together, Rolle said, they can be "a dynamic duo" - the kind of safety tandem the Giants haven't had in years Ö or maybe ever.</p>"We're
going to have a brotherhood relationship," Rolle said. "He's never
going to leave my side now because I'm desperately going to need him.
And we're going to need each other. I'm going to make sure he's doing
whatever it takes to get back on the field, be my partner, side by
side."<div id="TixyyLink" style="border: medium none ; overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;">

Looks like DT Freddie Robbins is going to rejoin Steve Spagnuolo.
According to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, the Rams are nearing a deal
with the Giants unrestricted free agent tackle. Robbins should be in

Very few signing for the first 3 days. And i don't think any of the big deal were at all consistent with your prediction that the flood gate of cash would open.</P>

As a matter of fact, the two presumed biggest players, (cowboys and Skins) have been silent. All we've seen are teams filling specific hole as they always do. The $$$ is down due to unceratin economic conditions in the NFL.</P>

You can't argue with the fact that Julius Peppers is not a far superior player to Albert Hayensworth.</P>

And yet his contract is no better than Hayensworth contract (which is within $250,000/year of my prediction) Why , if you are right that the climate is much more condusive to big $$$$ with no cap, is Peppers contract not far greater than Hayensworth. Its not even in line with normal inflation in the NFL from year to year.</P>

I'm really not interested in competing with you in this, (all jokes aside) but I see an environment of caution from the owners.</P>

again lets tell the truth about what was said about the 8 mil, those weren't predictions, thats what he was reportedly asking for.

Saying we will spend less means nothing lol. That proves no point to your theory, we don't have the needs we had last year. Infact i'd say we're pretty much done with FA, minus a couple of small things here and there... we're draft bound now. "It's that time of year, it's good to get a little chippy," Bryant
said before adding that Barnes' play, which included swinging his knees
into Bryant's upper body after a made dunk and later faking a pass
right at Bryant's face on an inbounds play was, "entertaining."

"It is entertaining," Bryant said again, before adding, "There
was a lot of bumping going on. I've played with teams that were more
physical. Matt Barnes (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=1765) is physical in terms of putting hands on me and things like that, but him bumping me and Kenyon Martin (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=515) bumping me are two different things."
</p>Lamar Odom (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=617),
who was changing at a nearby locker, heard Barnes' name come up and
shouted to nobody in particular that Barnes was a "monkey" and added,
"He picked the right game to act tough."

dom's comments dripped of
sarcasm and he wasn't done there, later saying Barnes didn't accomplish
anything but that he got the crowd into the game.
</p>

"Ric Flair does the same thing," Odom said. "He had his wrestling gear on today. All he needed was, like, a cape and tights."

The woman accusing Ben Roethlisberger of sexual
assault was "hysterical" when she spoke with cops ... this according to
a source at the Milledgeville Police Department.

We're told
Ben's accuser arrived at the P.D. with three other women. According to
a source at the police department, Ben's accuser was extremely
emotional and looked like she had been crying for hours.

Ben's agent, Ryan Tollner, said on Friday, "we are skeptical of motive (http://www.tmz.com/2010/03/05/ben-roethlisberger-agent-statement-ryan-tollner-skeptical-dismissed/)." Our source begged to differ, saying Ben's accuser did not look like a girl who was making it up.

Ben Roethlisberger just made a helluva legal draft pick -- dude just picked up the same lawyer who got NFL superstar Ray Lewis out of a murder charge ten years ago.<div id="TixyyLink" style="border: medium none ; overflow: hidden; color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent; text-align: left; text-decoration: none;">

Ben Roethlisberger just made a helluva legal draft pick -- dude just picked up the same lawyer who got NFL superstar Ray Lewis out of a murder charge ten years ago.

Its not even in line with normal inflation in the NFL from year to year.</P>

</p>

"Ric Flair does the same thing," Odom said. "He had his wrestling gear on today. All he needed was, like, a cape and tights."
</p>

I watched the second half of that game and all BS aside, the tears need to stop.. they were fighting for position and they both were physical...

Only laker that should be crying is Fisher cuz he got leveled and maybe Bynum cuz he had some cream filled calls put on him... but even when he retaliated they gave a double foul just to appease him so he should be fine himself

Julius Peppers (http://www.fannation.com/tags/show_tag/1164)
would have stayed in Charlotte. The new Chicago Bear, who signed a
six-year contract that can earn him up to $91.5 million, insisted he
was willing to remain a Carolina Panther, but it came down to money.
According to Peppers, the two sides were split by a $6 million
difference for a four-year deal, or $1.5 million a year. Said Peppers,
"My feeling is they could have done that," Peppers said. "If they
wanted me to stay, it wouldn't have been that big of a deal."

I heard there was a big wreck in the race yesterday, but I didn't get to see it yet, was it Edwards?

It was, apparently these guys have some real beef...

Edwards was just getting the kid back, he didn't expect it to be such a big accident, that said he does deserve some kind of punishment, they'll likely start him at the back for the next race or two.

Are the Seattle Seahawks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=sea) getting competition for Brandon Marshall (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9705)?

ESPNís Adam Schefter is reporting (http://twitter.com/ADAM_SCHEFTER) Cincinnati is considering making a move on Marshall. The Pro Bowl receiver has been visiting with Seattle this weekend.

The Broncos put the first-round tender on Marshall. If the Bengals
are going to be in play with Marshall, they may want to act quickly.
Seattle could expedite the process.

If Cincinnati, which has the No. 21 pick in the first round, does
pursue Marshall, it will give Denver some leverage and could result in
a bidding war between Seattle and Cincinnati.

okay well then what top guys are left?

Dallas is surprising, Washington isn't. Snyder isn't making the calls there anymore, it Shanahan. Hes never really paid big money out to huge players. His team is not one piece away, he knows this. He has to revamp that team thru the draft.

Money is being thrown around, only one contract has been signed that supports ur theory while the rest support mine sir. I'm sorry but teams are still spending and records of money are still being broken... it may not be as dramatic as i originally thought, but its still happening.

who was there to be competitive with the Lakers and Celtics?? The bulls were so dominant and there was plenty of competition in the 90s! much more so than the 80s.
Knicks, Miami, Detroit(early decade) Pacers, were always in the mix come playoffs.....and that wasjust the EAST.

first off I am well aware of how good they were, i was brought up in a basketball family... that is my sports backround

and Irish basketball family who LOVED Larry Bird

but lets get realistic on this topic moorehead... Magic Johnson was a POINT GUARD. The main job of a pointguard IS to literally make everybody around them better... they facilitate the offense.

Jordan made EVERYONE around him better. Scottie Pippen wasn't Scottie Pippen, unless MJ was around. If you said Pip was overrated I wouldn't put up too much of a fight.

Gotta be honest, this may discredit any argument u'll ever make on here from this point forward

it also seems like ur arguing that the 80s had better NBA teams than the 90s... which is a JOKE

I heard there was a big wreck in the race yesterday, but I didn't get to see it yet, was it Edwards?

It was, apparently these guys have some real beef...

http://sports.espn.go.com/rpm/nascar/cup/columns/story?columnist=newton_david&amp;id=4974299

Edwards was just getting the kid back, he didn't expect it to be such a big accident, that said he does deserve some kind of punishment, they'll likely start him at the back for the next race or two.

It is so obvious though, you would think he knows that and at least wait until the next race...

he was 150 laps down, you put your own finish at risk while doing something like that, you never know, maybe the car reacts differently and while putting the other guy into the wall you wreck yourself too, or someone else on your team, etc etc.

the opportunity was there to take this guy out (whose taken Edwards out multiple times now) and not hurt his own finish or anyone else on the track, and cost the guy a top 5 finish.

that opportunity might not pop up again for a long time.

I seriously doubt it, they'll just probably start him from the back for the next race or two.

the TV numbers have been down a bit, so the league officials had told drivers to "Have at it" he did go a too far, but it wasn't without provocation from the other driver, and a promise of leniency from the officials.

starting from the back is nowhere near as bad as a suspension just an FYI also.

You are not wrong. But I have always watched B'Ball. I remember all of it. Why didn't the Celtics beat the Pistons (Bad Boys) teams? The Bulls killed the Lakers in the Finals when they played. Why didn't the Lakers win?

You are partial to the game the way it used to be played. Not to mention how many rules have been changed now. Can you possibly imagine how much better Jordan would have been if he played in todays rules with all the hand check fouls and ***** **** they call now? Jordan played in an era where it was hard to get a foul called. He beat everyone and anyone that was ever good. The Bulls team that went 72-10 would beat any championship team from any era hands down!

AND MJ dropping in Boston.</P>

We totally got away from my original post declaring Michael the best ever....
Without question the best offensive scorer...this seems to be all we've been talking about.

What solidified him as the best player EVER was that he was also the best defender to ever play shooting guard. PGs and Centers *should* be your best defenders in my eyes by default. Never will you see this again. Just tell me I'm right and we can call it a day.</P>

more 90s players i had to look up plus some carry overs from the 80s that were still legit:

Chris Webber, James Worthy, Dominique, Joe Dumars, Tom chambers, Danny Manning, Ron Harper (how could i forget), DC, Horace Grant, Cliff Robinson, LAtrell, Garnett, Larry Johnson, Juwan Howard, Antoine Walker, Steve Smith
</p>

I'm not sure what your point is here. Obviously there were great players in the 90's.</p>

Are you suggesting that these guys are all better than Larry or Magic?</p>

You never saw either play in their prime, but definition all you are basing your opinion on is what other people have said.</p>

Well I did see them play, so my view has more credibility.</p>

no i am pointing out that ur comment of level of competition was better in the 80s was absolutely ridiculous.

No they are not better than Magic or Bird. Magic or Bird are top 5 id not top 3 GOAT (possibly making room for Kobe and/or Lebron when its all said and done).... they just aren't THEE best

I love it when its me against the world.</p>

CONCLUSIONS:</p>

So what does it all mean? Was Larry better than Michael? Not necessarily.
Was Jordan the greatest player in the history of the game? Perhaps. Then
again, perhaps not. </p>

Michael Jordan filled the "greatness void" left by such
players as Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, and Julius Erving. He has been coddled
by referees and has amassed trophies and accolades in a league where no
one could challenge him. While the argument could be made that this is
the reason MJ is the best there ever was, I don't see it that way.
Jordan has made his mark in an era where expansion and million-dollar salaries
for mediocre players have watered down the overall talent in the league
beyond comparison to Bird's era. </p>

DON'TGETMEWRONG: Jordan is surely among the all-time
greatest players in the history of the NBA. The point of this statistical
comparison is to demonstrate that the answer to the question "Who
is the all-time best" is not as self-evident as one may think. As
a die-hard Celtic fan, even I was ready to relinquish that crown to Jordan
at one point. Yet when you look at their statistics and consider them in
terms of the makeup of the league during the heights of their careers...
I think the argument could be made either way. </p>

That having been said, <font color="#008000" size="4">as a clear partisan for Celtic Pride</font> I will
state my opinon, supported by the facts articulated above. <font color="#000000"><font size="+1">Larry
Bird is the greatest player in the history of the NBA.</font></font>
That's my story and I'm sticking with it.</p>

<font color="#0000ff">Another BIAS person...</font>
</p>

so because Bird couldn't dunk, had less steals, less blocks, had a slightly better offensive game and dramatically worse defensive game and had less rings, hes somehow better lol

gotta love boston fans...

thats all they do, try and make up reasons why their guy is better even... lol

no mention of the 94-95 season either lol... guy came back with 10 games left and tried to do it, n still did a decent job lol
