It's hard to believe this is happening. I never thought I'd hear this argument to be quite honest. lol

I've seenw people say they didn't LIKE Jordan...fine, whatever...

I LIKE Bird and Magic....like, alot....amazing players!

I just can't seem to find any reason to justify debating this, it's just tooooo painfully obvious to me. Sorry Morehead....it's over, man

Are the Seattle Seahawks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=sea) getting competition for Brandon Marshall (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9705)?

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting (http://twitter.com/ADAM_SCHEFTER) Cincinnati is considering making a move on Marshall. The Pro Bowl receiver has been visiting with Seattle this weekend.

The Broncos put the first-round tender on Marshall. If the Bengals are going to be in play with Marshall, they may want to act quickly. Seattle could expedite the process.

If Cincinnati, which has the No. 21 pick in the first round, does pursue Marshall, it will give Denver some leverage and could result in a bidding war between Seattle and Cincinnati.

He's never gonna say he's wrong or anything to that effect so i guess it doesnt matter lol.

Let's talk about more 90s basketball though! So amazing! =]

Since we were talking abt MJ, it made me think alot more about Scottie Pippen and how unique of a player he really was.
Ok, hear me out real quick. Pippen's play stylepaved the wayfor versatile players like Grant Hill became in the 90s, and was perfected by Lebron. I'm not a huge Lebron fan, but I can appreciate a guy who basically leads his team in every statistical category. Pts, Rebs and assists. Not entirely accurate, but you get the point. Revolutionized the Point-Forward concept in basketball also. The 3 guys I mentioned were some of the best jacks-of-all-trades. Pippen could run the ball at point, score from anywhere, and hang and bang in the trenches to rebound. But more or less was a PG in SF clothing.
Pretty cool if you ask me. Miss that guy too. He's eligible for the hall this year!!! Exciting stuff

I'd be totally ok with either really. (coming from abulls fan)

I'd guess it would be a difficult choice for him(then again, who can really know what goes on in that nutjob's head).Detroit is where he became a name,Chicago is where he became a celebrity player

heres a total change of subject but its just something i was watching on TV a couple of days ago..

it was like a documentry on southern rap.. crunk... throwin bowes and ****..

and I just think its so funny how like metal heads and those who like rap really can't understand each other at all... I mean these southern crowds basically mosh to that **** when they throw bowes, its EEERILY similar to pits...

its just funny how there is such a disconnect but yet they do similiar things

From November 1990 through June 1998, the Bulls never lost three games
in a row with Jordan. In his
final three Chicago seasons, in a 31-month stretch that started
November '95 and ended June '98, he played in 310 of a possible 310
games. He averaged 30.1 points
in the regular season and 33.4 points in the playoffs.

Isn't it ridiculous how MJ performed better in the Playoffs than the regular season....the PLAYOFFS where only the best teams go! Yet he beat them worse than teams in the regular season. Pretty awesome.

Also, did you watch the last game at MSG in 98 where he told the media he had a parting gift to NY, and he came out wearing the oldass Air Jordan's...I wanna say it was the One's but that'd be painfully obvious. Maybe the IVs? Then he had to take them off in the 2nd half cuz they were crampin his foot lol

I am not saying you are crazy, I am saying you are crazy to think anyone is better than MJ. I don't need to watch them in their primes. Little to base my opionion on? Look at the "facts" championships, mvp's, all star games, defensive awards, finals MVP's. No matter how you slice it Jordan is ahead of Bird in ALL statistical categories except for FT's, rebounding and 3's. So Bird was better at those 3 things. I will give you that. I know you are a die hard Celtics fan and I truly respect that. But walk up to anyone on the street in any city in the world and say who is the greatest basketball player of all time. For every person that says MJ you give me a dollar, and if someone says otherwise I'll give you 10...

Did you click on the link I provided?

P.S. Sorry if I offended you, not my intent at all. It is just blasphemous in my mind to think otherwise...

Bird's competitive nature often emerged in nearly constant trash-talking (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trash-talk) on the court. Some notable examples follow:

During the three-point shooting contest on All-Star Weekend 1986,
Bird entered the locker room, looked around without saying a word, then
finally said, "I want all of you to know I am winning this thing. I'm
just looking around to see who's gonna finish up second." He won the
shooting contest. During one game on Christmas Day against the Indiana Pacers, before the game Bird told Chuck Person (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chuck_Person)
that he had a Christmas present waiting for him. During the game, when
Person was on the bench, Bird shot a three-pointer on the baseline
right in front of Person. Immediately after releasing the ball, Bird
said to Person, "Merry ****in' Christmas!", and then the shot went in.
This was no doubt inspired by Person (nicknamed the "Rifleman") stating
prior to the game that "The Rifleman is Coming, and He's Going Bird
Hunting." Reggie Miller (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reggie_Miller)
recalled his encounter with Larry Bird's legendary trash talking
ability in his book "I Love Being The Enemy". Reggie tried to disrupt
Larry's concentration when he was shooting free throws late in a game.
Larry glared at him, made the first free throw and said, "Rook, I am
the best ****ing shooter in the league. In the league, understand? And
you're up here trying to ****ing tell me something?" Then Larry buried
the second free throw. Late in a tied game against the Seattle SuperSonics (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seattle_SuperSonics), Bird told Supersonics forward Xavier McDaniel (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xavier_McDaniel),
who was guarding him, exactly where he would hit the game winning shot.
After a timeout, Bird made two baseline cuts, then posted in the exact
spot he had indicated to McDaniel, paused, turned, and hit the shot in
his face.[22] (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Larry_Bird#cite_note-21)[/list]

PHILADELPHIA -- Donovan McNabb (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=1753) will be throwing passes to Terrell Owens (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=1056) again.

McNabb and Owens are teaming up on a basketball court instead of a football field in the new season of Spike TV's "Pros vs. Joes." The episode features NFL players that played college basketball against former NBA stars.

McNabb (Syracuse), Owens (Tennessee-Chattanooga) and Antonio Gates (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5362) (Kent State) will face Hakeem Olajuwon, Kenny Smith and Rick Fox.

Hakeem,Smith and Fox should destroy them. But Gates, Mcnabb and TO are all in shape. Could be fun to watch
You would think but I bet it will be close. Hakeem could beat TO and McNabb by himself I bet. lol

Wasn't Gates actually good at basketball though!? lol....those other guys are questionable at best
*I'm sure Rick Fox is still in adequate shape to compete. lol

Gates was a first-team all-state basketball & football player. I think Kenny can still knock down a jumper. But the dream has not played in yrs. I still get sick to think how well he played against my Knicks in the finals yrs back.

That's the only reason I wrote OLB for LT

I think LT is the best defensive player ever. Butkus was a mlb and a damn good one. Reggie White is second at best defensive players. Then Deacon Jones.

that's not true. We have done nothing but show the utmost respect, and give credit where it's due. It does not however, change the fact that stats dont lie, nor does the quality of competition. So we feel, anyway.

The Celtics only had to play the Lakers in the Finals. Plus they always won. The percentage of times the Celtics have been in the Finals and won is crazy. The Lakers have barely won half the time they have been there. You named 2 teams that the Celtics had to compete with, 2!!! Were there any others? The Bulls beat the Lakers, Blazers, Sonics, J*** twice, Knicks, Heat, Pacers, Hawks and countless others. Everyone wanted to beat the Bulls. They always got everyones best shot. I don't see how you can say in that era there were no other great teams. Look at the Dream Team of 92. He beat every one of their teams. The only reason the Rockets won 2 is because he retired. They would have won 8 championships in a row.

Its a pet peeve with me regarding Jordan. He's a great player but was partially responsible for ushering in the selfish brand of basketball. He's a one on one player. Geat at one on one offense, great at one on one defense. Great highlight reels. But wasn't the kind of team player that Magic and Larry were. Or Jerry West or Oscar Robertson for that matter.

truth comes out.

You dont/didn't like Michael Jordan. Wow, that was ****ing easy. This has NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to do with being the best player ever. See THAT's an opinion, but now that you typed all that out, I feel like you seriously wasted all of our time today with this.

Not a waste at all. I enjoyed this debate thoroughly. Glad Morehead got that part off his chest. It could not have helped that the Celtics were irrelevant for 2 decades either while everyone talked about MJ...

Unfortunately, everyone kept dying on them.

he made mediocre players play great

Another aspect that can never be overrated...

The best player Jordan every played with was Pippen, everyone else were role players.

time for my bias...

it depend what ur talkin about... Rodman was the best defender and rebounder...

i could make a case for rodman
Horace Grant as well, if not for injuries.. I remember many nights when he was one of the best players on the floor.

Of course I knew you would say that...Rodman was the best rebounder of all time and his defense can't be understated but he rarely scored and was an afterthought on anything offensive except screens. He was not a role player but I'm not sure he was all "that" important.

well i'd just say this and give up on the argument... Pippens best two attributes would prolly be scoring and defense..

BULL****!!! Artest is a shell of himself as you have said. Odom has been there for a minute and Gasol is Gasol. He is very good but this team doesn't compare to the 3peat teams with Shaq. Especially the year we played the Pacers in the Finals. They went 15-1 in the playoffs.

Can someone look up a list of sorts, or a page that shows a player's turnovers to assists? I'm curious to what kinda difference some players have. Like I used to love watching Jason Williams(WHITE CHOCOLATE! lol) handle the ball when he first came to the league, but I wonder how good he really was....same with AI actually....flashy yes, effective? i dont know.

Its not that he made this shot. Its that he maintained his form and calmly made the shot, as if it was routine.

I did forget about Oscar Robertson. I would put him in with Cousy at 5A.

Actually Cousy was an all time great passer and should be higher. But you noodle heads would whine and I can't take another day of that.
